Bible Study Lesson- The Kingdom Of God - The Power Of A Seed Part 3

Greg Ryan teaches that sowing God's Word as spiritual seed requires patience and faith. He contrasts sowing to the flesh versus the Spirit using Galatians 6:7-9, and uses Abram's 13-year wait for Isaac to show why believers must trust God's timing instead of demanding instant results.
Welcome to episode 34. We're going to go to the Gospel of John, chapter 1.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 34. I'm going to continue to talk about the power of the seed and what that means to you and I. In the previous episode, I talked about how it's our job, as we saw in Mark 4:26, it's our, it's our job to throw the seed out. So the seed was created by God. You can go back and read all about that in Genesis 1 when he started speaking things into existence, and he spoke the grass and the herbs and the animals, and it said, each to his kind. And that's found in Genesis 1. But the man is to scatter the seed. So we are the ones to plant the seed, and I And the other thing that we are to do is after the seed has ripened and come to fruition, then we are to bring forth the harvest. So we really have two jobs here. We throw seed out and we harvest it based on the Word of God. And I kind of want to dig a little bit deeper to when we're talking about the seed, and I want to go to Galatians, and I'm going to read 6:7-9. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart. Paul brings this in from the physical to the spiritual realm, and we're going to end up going there, but I want to stay on the physical right now in the throwing of the seed. Seed, because there is spiritual seed and there is physical seed. And right now I want to talk about the physical seed. When we're planting a garden and when we're growing seed, there's still supernatural power inside of the seed that I want to talk about. And I understand that the Word of God is seed, and we will get to that, but I want us to keep, kind of keep our focus on seedtime and harvest. And I want to go to Matthew 6:33, but seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all all these things will be added unto you. So we've got to figure out God's way of doing things. And if we're going to restore the power that has left the church, or that is gone, or is that we've got a power shortage— and we're right in the middle, and I've talked about it a little bit, but we're kind of in the middle of kind of a winter event, for lack of a better word. The, the winter has come to Louisiana here in February. And it's shutting this whole place down. We can't go anywhere. We can't drive. There's snow on the ground. And I was born and raised up in Michigan, and, you know, people kind of laugh, you know, up there probably when they see snow. We get 4 or 5 inches and it shuts the whole city down. But we're just not— we're not equipped down here to deal with it. And, you know, if you're not plowing the roads and if there's snow and ice on the roads, it's dangerous to drive. I don't care how good a driver you are. It's still dangerous to drive through all of this mess when, you know, when it freezes and then it thaws and then it freezes again. So everything shut down and we've got a problem with the water. You know, the power shortage— when you, when you lose power, there's a lot of things that shut down. And, and one of the examples that I wanted to use is, you know, we're, we're doing— they're doing, for whatever reason, and I don't know, but like a rolling blackout., and they're, they're saying that the power grid is— there's too much power coming through or being pulled, I don't know. But, but they're shutting the power down, and some of the unintended consequences of shutting that power down— there's no power at the water company. And I think one of the, one of the water companies in a town close to where I live, they had, uh, backup generators that were supposed to kick on when the power went off. Well, those didn't work. So then there was no power to shove the water through the water lines. And so when the pumps didn't work, then the water stopped flowing. And then when the water stopped flowing, then it froze because we got it down— we got down to 2 degrees. Well, when the water freezes, it expands, and it started breaking stuff. So the unintended consequences of losing power, I mean, it created all kinds of It kind of— all kinds of issues here in the physical realm. And in the spirit realm, I want to bring it back to the church. And you and I, we talked on a previous episode, you and I are the church. So when we lose power, you know, you think you can walk around and not— it not affect anything. But us walking around with Christ in us and representing and, and to reflect God's glory, you know, in us or through us And if we don't use the power that God gave us that's in the Word, then there's some unintended consequences that happen. And I think we're kind of living in that. So if we were to walk as the church in the power that God gave us, if we were walking in the same power that Jesus walked in when he was here, and, and we're the same— I mean, God does not see us any different than he sees Jesus. If you've been saved and you're born again, you have the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Living on the inside of you, one-third of you is exactly the same as Jesus. And we're going to get into that in a different, in a different teaching. It's going to be in the Spirit, Soul, and Body teaching. But I want to just introduce the fact that you are— one-third of you is spirit, and it is totally just like Jesus. And when God looks at you, he sees his son, he sees the spirit that is alive in you. And that's why he can look at you and he can, you know, he cannot see the problems. He— all he sees is the spirit that's alive and well. Now, the— when we talked about in the previous couple episodes ago where you— body, soul, and spirit— the spirit and the, and the body are fighting against each other. So what we're trying to do is we're trying to get that back. We're trying to get the spirit, the soul, back to the spirit side. And by that, we got to start planting seeds, and we have got to learn about the power, the power that's in the seed, the little bitty small seed that is, you know, just any little thing. It has got immense power when it is planted in the ground. And we're, we're not to worry about how all that goes, comes to pass. We're going to talk about that in another— in the next episode or two, I don't even know. I've got it kind of planned out. But what I wanted to talk about today is the time. You know, we're throwing seed out and then we harvest, but in between that, there's time that elapses. You know, in our instantaneous world that we're living in, our drive-through dinners and our Instant Pot suppers and our instant mashed potatoes and all of the stuff that we're— we combined all of, put all that together that we wanted, and we want it right now. You know, patience is one of the, is one of the gifts and one of the things of love, but— or one of the fruits of the Spirit, and it's part of love. Love is patient and love is kind. But don't, don't bother me with patience down here. I want it right now. But I just want to take you just to kind of to see about time and how God did it in the Old Testament I want us to read Genesis 16:6 and 17:1, and I just want you to see how God dealt with it back with Abram. And in Genesis 16:6, Abram was 86 years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram. And then in 17:1, this is— in my Bible, it may be like a quarter of an inch difference because it goes from 16:16 to 17:1. That's the changing of the chapter. And it— and then it says, when Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, I am Almighty God. Walk before me and be blameless. Now I want you to just picture for a minute that quarter of an inch that is represented in my Bible. And I don't know how big a gap it is in yours, but You know, the chapters were put in there so make it easier to read. They weren't put in the original Torah. Abram, from 1616 to 171, that little gap represented 13 years that the, the Lord— the Bible just went silent for 13 years. And you know something was happening. With Abram and Hagar and Ishmael and Sarah, that Abram was having to deal with that every day for 13 years. There is a new baby. If you've ever had a baby, you know that things happen with that child, and you know, life happens and you've got to deal with it. But you also have two women under the same tent. I don't know if they're in the same tent or different tents, but Abram had two women that he was dealing with, and I think— I haven't studied— someone told me that the Chinese symbol for chaos is having two women under the same roof. We have a kind of a chaotic situation and something that probably was not, and I'm certain that it was not, part of God's plan for Abram. You know, it happened anyway. And so Abram has a child with Hagar, who's his maidservant, not his wife. Now we, we go— the Bible just goes silent for 13 years. And so if you want something like tomorrow, right now, God, you start praying and you say, God, and God, and you get a word from God, that word takes years. I think from the time God told Abram that he was gonna be the father of many nations. I want to say it was 25 years, and I'll look that up because I'm about to close this, this episode down because it's going longer than I want. But Abram got the word of God that he was going to be the father of many nations, and from the time he got that word to when Isaac was born was, I think, 25 years. But I know Ishmael was born when Abram was 86, because it says, it says so in Genesis 16:16. And then in Genesis 17:1, it says when Abram was 99 years old. So in that 13 years, something happened. And we're going to have to get to heaven to figure out what happened, but I guarantee you, life happened. Just like life happens to us and we think, you know, in the last, you know, you— we think 2020 was a, was a horrible year and it was not fun. It was, it was terrible in many instances, but it was just one year. Abram went 13 years of living waiting on the promise. So that's enough for now. We're going to get back into this thing, but we, we need to know that there's seed time and there's harvest, and then in between all of that there's time. So we just, we need to slow it down a little bit. But that's enough. Speaking of slowing it down, I need to shut it down, and I'll talk to you in the next episode.
