Biblical Worldview, the Covid-19 vaccination and mask mandates

Greg Ryan argues that Christians should base decisions about COVID vaccines and masks on Scripture, not government guidance. He shares that he's never taken a flu shot and refuses the COVID vaccine, trusting God's healing instead of medical intervention.
Welcome to episode 183.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 183. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, we've made it through another week and we are at the Saturday's episode, so it's the 6th episode. And like I started last week, I'm going to take a topic that is current affairs worthy, something that's going on right now, and I'm going to give you my biblical explanation and my fanatic Christian answer and why it may even matter. Today, as you probably saw on the title of this episode, I'm going to be dealing with should a Christian get the COVID-19 vaccination? And what's the deal with the mask mandates or the no mask mandates? Who's right and who's wrong? And I know anyone that's just tuning in on this has probably got an eyebrow up already, and I'm okay with that. I am not going to tell you that the Bible specifically tells you do not get a vaccination. And really, because I am who I am, I am going to give you this imperfect Christian's response as I follow after my perfect Savior. And in a nutshell, why I believe most people that are not following after a biblical worldview is because they want something to change. I am entirely the exact opposite. I don't think we're going to get better than the scripture. I don't think we're going to get better than God's word, and it's a standard, and I had absolutely nothing to do with writing it. And you should take comfort in the fact that I did not write one word in this Bible. I make a horrible Holy Spirit. All I do is I read this word and I apply it to my life, and this standard never changes. This biblical worldview, if you get into God's word and you allow God's word to get into you, This standard never changes. And if you will apply these truths, if you'll just go to Proverbs and apply those truths, whether you believe in God or not, those truths in God's word, in just Proverbs, will change your life. Now, if you take the next step and you go to and abide in the word like it says in John 8:31-32, and we talked about this on an earlier episode this week, but it says, then Jesus said to those Jews who believed him, If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Do you want true freedom? Abide in God's word. I know this is soapbox moment number 932, but you have got to get into the word of God. And it's just the rock. It is. And Jesus said in Matthew 7, right after he said— and I'm going to just go up In Matthew 7:22, many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, cast out demons in your name, and done many wonders in your name? And then I will declare to them, I never knew you. Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness. Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rains descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But whoever hears these sayings of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it fell. And great was its fall. If this is your first time here, we open up the Bible and we read a lot of Bible verses, and I have superior reading skills, and I know that you were fired up about that. But really what I want to talk about is the standard, is that we have a standard with the Bible that— and that is just something that I hold on to. It is something that I can learn and I can get into me, and I can put my life on this rock, and I can look at his teachings and I can apply my everyday life to what Jesus said. If you just stay in the Gospels— Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John— if you don't read anything else and you just try to imitate Christ, you will live a much better life than trying to figure out what the next thing is to do, or what Instagram, or what Facebook, or what YouTube, or what any kind of influencer is saying or doing. And that takes me to the CDC and the standard that we have with all of these vaccines and these mandates and all of this stuff. I want to go on the record as saying I have never gotten a flu shot. I've never put a flu vaccination in my body, and it's because— and my mom, God blessed her soul, she is in heaven right now— but her and I had a disagreement multiple times about getting this flu shot. And I constantly had to bind up— she would say, Greg, you need to get your flu shot. And I said, Mom, I'm not getting a flu shot. I was saved 20-some years ago, and Jesus is going to take care of me. And so she kind of rolled her eyes like some of you are probably doing, and she said, "You need to get—" And I said, "Mom, I bind that up in Jesus' name. I'm not gonna get the flu." And I'm here to tell you, I have never gotten the flu. I do not get the flu shots, I don't get the flu, so why should I get the by his stripes we were healed? I have faith and I know we're not supposed to talk. The just shall live by faith. And so I'm here to tell you my imperfect actions following after this perfect Savior, I do not get my inspiration or my direction from the world. I get it from the Bible and from the Holy Spirit. And I know some of you may think that I'm crazy. That's okay. I think some of this stuff going on in this world is crazy myself. But when the CDC comes out and Fauci— I guess he's the head of the CDC, I don't pay a lot of attention to him— but when he said at the beginning that masks really don't matter Then he changed his mind and said, yes, you need mask, everybody needs to mask up. So then we masked up. We need social distancing. You know, with social distancing, these words just originated when this disease came in on the scene. So now we've got social distancing, we got mask mandates, we've got a bunch of brand new terminology and a brand new way of looking at life. But I'm telling you what I see, and what I see daily is a bunch of stinking fear. And anytime you make a decision that's based and rooted in fear, I believe you're, you're on the wrong team. You are looking at the world through the punk's eyes. You are looking at it with your 5 senses, and you're not using the Word of God as your standard. And I know I'm a fanatic, and I'm not going to make any apologies for being a Jesus fanatic. I get in the Word, I follow the Word, I mean, I'm not to the place where Paul says to live is Christ and to die is gain. And then I'm not advocating not getting the vaccine, and I'm not advocating not putting a mask on. What I'm trying to tell you is why there's a resistance with some Christians in the Christian community. It's because there's no standard. You have absolutely no standard. You cannot point to one thing and say with certainty that this is how it is. I can point to the scripture and tell you with certainty that's what I believe. And that's what makes people so irritated with Christians, is because there's no wiggle room, and there shouldn't be. There should be a standard. There should be a rock that you can anchor your life on, and that is the Bible. In my world, it is— I have a biblical worldview, and if it's not in the Bible and if it doesn't line up with the Bible, I don't do it. Now, am I perfect at it? Heck no, I'm not even close to perfect. In fact, I tell people all the time, and I'm just going to tell you about my twisted sense of humor because I do have a twisted sense, and you probably, if you're following me, you probably know this, but I've told multiple people, and I think I've told you on occasion here in this podcast, that I've never considered myself— if I walk into a room with 4 or 5 people I never consider myself the smartest person in that room. I, I'm just not that smart, and I'm okay with it. You know, I'm not an idiot either. I mean, if it's raining, I usually come inside. You know, you don't have to tell me to come in from out of the rain. But I can get out of my own way most times. But I don't go into a room thinking I'm the smartest. I go into a room thinking someone can help me or someone can teach me. So I'm open— I'm semi-open-minded as long as it doesn't go against the Bible. I mean, that is my standard. That's where I walk. That's my walk that I walk. And that's when I come on here every day and try to help you with this biblical worldview. If you get in the Bible, the Holy Spirit will lead and guide and direct you. My wife gave me control, or asked me to change out— we got a little board that she puts little sayings on. I don't know if you've ever seen these, but you put little letters on this felt board, they stick on there. And so we have it in our kitchen to when someone comes in our kitchen, you know, they see it. If they look at it, they'll see this board. And she has inspirational things on here. And so she gave me control of the board because she didn't have time, or I don't even know why she did. She probably never gonna do it again. I put on there, just to show you my distorted sense of humor, and I'm gonna apologize after I tell you: if you're not the sharpest tool in the shed, You can still be the hoe. And I'm sorry, it's distorted. I know it's probably off-color, but it's just funny. And I think that God, you know, he may have cued the eye roll. God's got a sense of humor. I've got a sense of humor. Now, it may not be funny to you, but it made me laugh, and I thought that was funny. And so I put it on my little board. It's probably gonna— it, you know, it stays up for a month. That's one of the rules. So it's going to be up in my kitchen for a month, but it is just funny. And it's just, we just need to lighten up, you know. And one of the things that I can't understand at all is why vaccinated people are anxious and nervous about unvaccinated people. If you've got the vaccine, and I'm not against or for, I'm just telling you I'm not going to get the vaccine and I've already had the disease. I've already had the COVID And I've already got the antibodies, so I'm not going to get— why would I get a vaccine of man-made antibodies when I already have the natural antibodies? It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. There's no common sense going on here at all. It's all fear, it's all name-calling, and it's putting one against the other. We're not supposed to war against each other. We're supposed to war against Satan and against his demons and all this fear and all of this principalities and powers. You know the scripture, it's in Ephesians 6:12, but we are not battling against flesh and blood, and it just seems like we're pitted against one another, and I'm against that. And, and you know, America used to be free to where you could do whatever you wanted to do. When this COVID came out and they told us to social distance and they told us to shut everything down, I got away from everybody and I did all that stuff. But it didn't help. If you look at it, the cases went up. Yeah, they may have come down a little bit, but it goes up and down. The economy took a beating. There's just so many negative things that happened for us to be shut down again, and I'm against it. I mean, I'm telling you, I'm against it. Am I right? I don't know. I've got an opinion, and that's why you're coming here listening to this. It is just that whether we shut down, whether we mask up, whether we get vaccinated, that is your personal opinion. That is your personal choice. And that's what America used to be. We used to be free to make decisions. We used to be free to walk and to talk and to say things that were on our mind without being canceled or whatever. And that's another thing, and we may talk about that and all this wokeness and all this cancel society. But for right now, I just looked at the clock and this is going way longer than normal, and I knew there was no way I was going to be able to get everything out. But I just wanted to open this can of worms up, and I just wanted to stir it around a little bit and get you thinking what's going on in this world. It is, there's no standard. If you are not locked down on a biblical worldview, you don't have to see the world as I see the world, but you need to have a standard. And if you're putting your standard on anything besides the words of God, it says that you are building your house on sand. And I, if you can't look at the world and see how messed up it is, and you can't see all the different changes. I'm in sales, and I don't understand how you sell getting the vaccine if you started selling it like you're going to be okay, you're not going to have— you're going to go back to your normal life, and now all of a sudden, no, you can't go back to your normal life. You got to put the stinking mask on. You got to do like everybody else is doing. And not only that, now you need to hate the people and be scared of the people that are unvaccinated. Why? Why are you scared of me that's unvaccinated, that's got antibodies? I've got an— I can't get this crap again, and if I get it I see it again, my body is prepared to fight it. Where's the common sense? I don't know, but let's, let's pray. God, I thank you so much for your word. I thank you for the standard that you've put in my life, and I pray in Jesus' name that the listener to this podcast will get into your word and look for your standard and try to apply it to their life. Holy Spirit, help them, lead them, guide them, direct them into your word. What you want them to do with their lives. God, this is freedom— well, you gave us free will and we thank you for that. God, you're a dangerous loving God that give us free will and let us mess up or let us succeed based on what we think is right. God, we thank you, we love you, we ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen! Well, thanks for being a part of this and I look forward to visiting with you on the next episode.
