Christian Podcast How you can overcome evil in the world using the Truth

In this episode of the "No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe" podcast, host Greg Ryan exhorts listeners to combat evil by anchoring themselves in the truth of Scripture. He argues that the Bible is the ultimate source of truth that sets people free, citing John 8:31‑32 and John 18:37 to illustrate Jesus’ role as the bearer of truth. Ryan explains that God, from the foundation of the world, prepared Jesus as the Word to redeem humanity, framing the biblical narrative as a love story set against a supernatural war between good and evil. He emphasizes the necessity of personal, consistent Bible study, a determined mindset, and reliance on the Holy Spirit, which he claims is present whenever believers gather in Jesus’ name. Ryan also addresses contemporary cultural confusion—particularly around gender identity—asserting that the biblical definition of male and female is a fixed truth that, when abandoned, leads to societal chaos. Throughout, he interweaves theological exposition with practical advice (e.g., creating Bible bookmarks, daily reading plans) and personal reflections on inner thoughts, which he attributes to a “punk” (Satan) attempting to distract believers. The episode concludes with a prayer asking the Holy Spirit to guide listeners into all truth, reinforcing the central claim that Jesus is the sole way, truth, and life.
Chapters
Welcome to episode 261.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, I'm going to continue to talk about or to teach on how to overcome evil using the Word of God. And I believe it's important in this day and age, in any day and age to be quite honest, that we use the Bible. And again, this is awful early, and I'm getting earlier and earlier if you hadn't noticed, on my soapbox moment is that we have got to get into this Word. We have got to allow the word of God to get into us so that we may know the truth, and the truth shall set us free. And we go to John 8:31-32, and he says that my disciple— that you are my disciple indeed if you abide in my word. And I know I probably just chopped all that up. Jesus' disciples will abide in his word. That's from the mouth of God. And then he said, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. And I wanna go to a, I don't know if this is a real popular verse, but this is when Jesus is having a brief conversation with Pilate, and he didn't talk a lot. And Pilate was, you know, he was amazed that all these accusations were flying, and Jesus just kept his mouth shut. Because Jesus knew why he was there. Jesus was there to die for you and I. He wasn't there to tell everyone that he's right and that he needs to be released. Jesus was not there to be released that day. Jesus was there to die that day, and he was there to take the stripes. And if you look at that and you think about what Jesus did for you and I, it is amazing that he allowed all of this to happen. He came on that day. He, in fact, at the foundations of the world when God created the world. And that's the thing, you can kind of get your, your mind kind of goes crazy if you start thinking and pondering all of this stuff that God did. God created man knowing that man was going to fall. God created man even though he knew Satan was going to tempt him and that Adam and Eve were both, uh, bite from the fruit of the knowledge of the tree of good and evil. So God knew all that, and he prepared Jesus, the Word, from the foundations of the world. He knew we were going to need a Savior, and Jesus said, yeah, I'll do that. I love man just like you do. They're made in our image. And so with that in mind, and I got to have that as the backdrop because I've said multiple times that the Bible is just a love story that is put in the backdrop of a supernatural war of good and evil and this love story of God's relationship with man and him trying to get that relationship back with you and I. If you read the Bible with that in mind, it will mean so much more to you. And you've got to picture Father God as loving and kind and merciful and full of justice, full of grace, all of those things. When you read the word of God, you have to associate Father God with love, because God is love. And so when we're reading this and we got to know that Jesus came to die, and he did die, and he also said, hey, I'm going to send the Helper, because if I don't go to the right hand of my Father, the Helper will not come. But it's to your advantage that I go. And he told his disciples that. It's in John 16:7 where Jesus was sitting down and saying, look, I've got to leave but it's, it's going to be to your advantage. And I just want to reiterate how important that scripture is, but how important that you and I understand that the Holy Spirit is here right now. And where two or more are gathered in my name, there the Holy Spirit is. So with, with me talking to you and you listening to this podcast episode, the Holy Spirit is there. I didn't write any part of this Bible, so I just want you to be aware that the Bible is truth, and the Bible is the word of God, and with that in mind, I wanna read, because the world is searching for truth. The world is, I mean, they are starving for wisdom. They are drowning in information. You and I are drowning in information, and we are starving for wisdom. And the truth is what's gonna set us free. And the truth of the matter, and there's so much propaganda going on, no one really knows what's going on because there's so much information. You can get any kind of anything on just about any social media channel that you're looking for. But that's another reason, and this is a double soapbox, that's why we need to be in the truth, because the only real truth is this Bible. We're gonna go to John. The world, and Pilate is representative of the Roman Empire and the world system or a worldview, did not believe in Jesus, was not a Jew. They had their own law, and it was probably based on, and I'm not here to talk about that, but I'm sure it was based on the Jewish laws. I want to go to John 18:37. Pilate therefore said to him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, for this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice. Pilate said to him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out to the Jews and said to them, I find no fault in him at all. Jesus is pretty clear. I have come into the world that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice. So this right here, when people start telling me that, you know, God's not speaking, and if I hear God's voice or if I hear God speaking, some people say that's blasphemy. And I know that there's some crazy Christians out there, and I may be one of them. But I want you to understand that the Bible is clear that the people of the truth hear his voice. Jesus also said that he was the good shepherd and his sheep hear his voice. So there is a voice of God, there is a voice of Jesus. I believe it's the Holy Spirit that leads us into all truth. That's what the Bible says. But we have got to learn to listen. We get into the Word of God, we start reading it, and I've told you multiple times, when the Word stops me, when I read something and all of a sudden it's just like, whoa, when the Word or the Holy Spirit or whatever it is you want to give credit to stops you from read— when you're reading, and not that I, I just don't feel like picking up the book today, I'm not talking about that kind of stopping you, because you do have opposition to this. The punk doesn't want you in the Word of God. There's no part of that animal that wants you in the Bible. So just know straight up that if you're gonna read the Bible, you gotta make up your mind. I've talked multiple times on the power of a made-up mind, and so you have to get into your mind that I'm gonna get in this word, and I'm gonna allow this truth to get into me, and that just needs to be done. And you just need to make up your mind. If you're ever gonna read the Bible consistently, you've got to make up your mind that I'm gonna read that. And I've got some bookmarks that I'm making. I think they're pretty cool, but they're gonna have all of the different scriptures, the verses every day, your daily reading, like Old Testament, New Testament, and something you can stick in your Bible. That way you don't have to buy a Bible reading plan for a year. You know, you just use the Bible you got. So that makes the most sense to me. But anyway, that's a side note and a rabbit that I didn't really even wanna chase. But we have to know the truth, and we've got to be in this Bible, and we've got to listen to the voice of God. And the voice of God, I believe, is in your head just the same way that you can talk to yourself. You can talk to yourself if you just quiet your— yourself and don't let words come out of your mouth, but the thoughts that are in your head, wherever you start thinking thoughts, and if you think them out loud in your head— and that's kind of— and it's hard to describe over a podcast But when I'm thinking, I hear a little voice box in my head, and I just— and it's back here, and I've told you before, but it's kind of back right, I think. And it's kind of— it's me talking to me. And I'll, you know, I'll say, come on, you can do this. Or, you know, when I'm blasting somebody when I'm driving, you know, it's usually, dang it, look at this guy. And I'm trying not to say it out loud anymore because I'm a little more calm, but I still kind of scream in my head. The punk talks to us the same way. And if you don't believe that, have you ever, I just want to ask you a question, have you ever had a just gnarly, nasty thought, or maybe I'm the only one that does, but just a thought, just random stinking thought that comes out of nowhere that's just nasty or vile, or you're like, what the heck? And I give credit to the punk, 'cause I mean, it's nowhere near what I'm thinking, But then all of a sudden I just got this thought, and I've heard it talked about that you can't keep birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from making a nest in your hair. And if you don't have any hair on top of your head, if you're thinking thoughts all the time, sometimes that's the punk, I think, coming in and bringing you thoughts that you should be thinking, or he wants you to think. And so, and if you just keep pondering that and keep milling over that, you know, worry and anxiety are thoughts. You know, they're, they're thoughts that aren't concentrating on the truth. And I don't want to chase that rabbit. We're going to go down there. But what happens if we don't understand the truth? Everyone's searching for the truth. And Pilate right here says, what is the truth? Most people run up against the truth. When Pilate saw the truth, he didn't even recognize the truth. Because he had been around the world so long that the world system— the world system has nothing to do with the truth. I don't know if you've ever thought about that, but the, the stuff, the propaganda that's going on right now, all of this transgender stuff, our Supreme Court nominee— I mean, I've just got to get this off my chest for a minute— she can't define what a woman is. Are you kidding me? You don't know what a woman is? Have we gotten that far away from the truth that we can't define what a man and a woman is without offending somebody? There's always going to be somebody offended, and I'm not here to offend anybody, but when you look at the book, the book says there are male and female. That's it. Now, there can be varieties of different males and females, and God loves variety, but there is a male and there is a female, and that is something that you can anchor in. Society has been anchored on that truth for so long. And if you wonder why the society is unraveling maybe a little bit, it's because we're taking the truth out of everything. And so when you start taking male and female and you start questioning that, and you get 56 or 84 different genders, I mean, nothing but confusion and chaos and division and all the deception, all of this stuff starts coming into the arena. And because again, I'm talking about the spiritual realm and the physical realm, and if you bring these ideas here into earth, you let them percolate— I don't even know if that's a good word— but you let them manifest into this arena, into the world, and then it gets out of control in a hurry. And if you can't tell it's out of control, you're not paying attention. If you can't tell women and men are at each other's throats. I don't understand it. I mean, I'm kind of into sports. I try real hard not to talk about sports all the time, but I am— have been brought up in sports. I love sports. And you start seeing what transgender women— and see, I don't even understand it. To me, it's a man dressing up as a woman competing against women. So I mean, it's not hard for me to understand what is right and what is wrong. And so when we start moving the goalposts and we start moving the definition of what a man and a woman is, you're going to have chaos, you're going to have misunderstandings, and that is not the truth. So if you're looking for the truth, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. And Pilate right here is asking the question, what is the truth?, and we're going to dig into this in the next episode. I just looked up at the clock. I hate that. I feel like I've rambled around, but I just want you to understand that we have an enemy, and this enemy doesn't want anything to do with the truth. And there is one truth, and it is Jesus. There is one truth, and it's the Bible. The Old Testament points to the Messiah. The New Testament shows the Messiah. I've heard it said that the Old Testament is Jesus concealed, and the New Testament is Jesus revealed. And that's simplistic. The Old Testament and New Testament, they work hand in glove, and it is amazing how cool God is, how he brings those two together.
And I— it—
the more I'm in it, the, the more fascinated I am by God. So I want to stop there because I can feel myself going to go on another tangent. But let's pray real quick. God, I thank you so much for your word. Jesus, thank you for coming. And living a life that I could not live and dying a death that I deserve to die. For me and for this listener, I pray in Jesus' name that Holy Spirit, that you would help lead and guide and direct us into all truth because you are truth. Lord, we thank you, we love you, we ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you in the next episode.
