Discover the Jesus pattern and how to apply it to your life part 7

Greg Ryan outlines the Jesus Pattern as a model for Christian life: preaching, teaching, healing, and inviting repentance. The core work is leading people to believe in Jesus. He introduces a practical tool: a t-shirt ministry built on wearing, praying, and sharing the gospel.
Welcome to episode 136.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Episode 136. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are still, if you can believe it, in the Jesus Pattern, and it's a second week. I thought I'd be done. God had different plans, and here we are. Before I get started, I want to tell you, you know the word that I had at the beginning of the year was relentless, and so I have been relentless in making these podcasts. But I also want to figure out how to use these podcasts to draw more people to Jesus and to get them into the Word of God. And I figured if I'm going to do this, I might as well promote it a little bit. So here's what I did. I went out and found a transcription— I guess that's the word— service. They transcribe the podcasts. And what I'm planning on doing— and this is, you know, this is a one-man band, so this is as I'm getting all this together— I'm going to have every episode transcribed. I'm going to put it up on the website, and then I'm going to take those transcriptions, and my goal is to have each lesson on the website but have the total teaching. Like for the Jesus Pattern, there— if there's, say there's 10 episodes that talk about the Jesus Pattern and how to apply that to your life, I'm going to have all 10 of those in a PDF. I'm gonna make a PDF. I have some skills. I don't want to talk about them right now, but there's some skills in the background that I don't talk about a lot, and I've got some sneaky PDF skills. So I'm gonna put those together and see about having those available if anybody wants those. And if you think anybody might want to read it, because I kind of like holding on to something, I like having a PDF and So the other thing that I was thinking is with this PDF, you would have to give me— get kind of sneaky here— you would have to give me your email and your name. And another thing, I've been trying to figure out how to communicate with everybody, and I think this would be an excellent way to communicate, and we could have a two-way communication. You would have my email, then I would have your email, and then I could— we could talk amongst ourselves. Or I could tell you all these wonderful things that are coming up, and I could remind you to remember, tell Bubba about the podcast and all that stuff. So it's all about promotion, but it's not about promoting me or this podcast, it's about promoting the word of God. And that is what we're here to do, and that's what I'm fixing to do. I appreciate you giving me the minute to tell you about this. I think it's pretty cool, but we'll find out. If it's too much, then I'll just throw my hands up and I'll let you know on another service announcement that we're not doing this PDF thing because, as per usual, I sometimes bite off more than I can chew. But I don't think I have. I think I've got this thing nailed down, and we'll just see. But let's get into scripture. I want to go to Matthew 4:17. From that time, Jesus began to preach and to say, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Now I want to take you to the same book in Matthew but different chapter Matthew 5:2, then he opened his mouth and taught them, saying— and in the next verses he talks— this is called the Beatitudes. So he says, blessed are the poor in spirit. I'm not going to read those, you can read those, it's a great chapter. But he— I just want you to hear the words that he opened his mouth and taught them, saying. And then the last scripture, same book, different chapter, Matthew 8:2, and behold, a leper came and worshiped him, saying, Lord, If you are willing, you can make me clean. Then Jesus put out his hand and touched him, saying, I am willing. Be cleansed. Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And I just need you to bear with me, we're going to go to a couple more scriptures in same book, Matthew 4:23. And Jesus went about all Galilee teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. And now the last verse is in Matthew as well. It's chapter 9, verse 35. Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. If this is your first time to the podcast, I should have warned you. I normally do at the front of any episode that I am gonna— this is a Bible study. We are going to look into the Bible This is not what Greg— I make a horrible Holy Spirit. I don't even pretend to be God or even pretend to know what God's thinking. I just jump up and down and flail my arms and say, get in his word. If you want to have a relationship with Jesus, you need to be in God's word because Jesus is the word. Jesus is the truth, and your relationship will be built on that. And as you read it, and as the Holy Spirit— he's here with us. He said he'd never leave us nor forsake us. He will lead us into all truth, and the Holy Spirit is the one that's going to teach us what's all this mean and how am I supposed to apply this to my life. And remember, we're talking about the Jesus pattern. When I say pattern, I don't, you know, I didn't want to define it, but a recognizable series of events, maybe. I, I don't know, a recognizable step-by-step. Because I struggle with the definition, I had to pull out my handy-dandy dictionary my Webster dictionary that's older than I am. And I've already talked about it, so I'm not going to tell you and paint the picture of its old yellow pages and worn-out look, but it's, it's older than I am. And I read the definition before I clicked the microphone back on, but a pattern is a model, sample, or specimen, anything cut out or formed into a shape to be copied. In Ireland, a festival or holiday in honor of a patron saint. And after I read that, I started thinking myself, so We might not should have called these things a Jesus pattern, but then it says to imitate a model, and that's the one that I want to go by. This is a mo— we're to imitate. Remember, we've talked about us, we are to imitate Christ. Our goal is not perfection. I think it's correction, and I think it's correction because it sounds cool and it rhymes, but it's also a true statement that we're not going to go from perfectly from A to B, from salvation to well done, my good and faithful servant, if that is our goal, that's our destination in heaven when Jesus talks to us or Father God says well done, our goal from A to B is not gonna be a straight line. It is gonna probably be, at best, it's gonna be kind of a turn, a weave here and a weave, and now we may be going up, but we're not going straight from A, salvation, to B, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant.' I don't care how good you are, it's not gonna happen. The pattern is not gonna be from point A to point B at a straight line. Now, there was one straight line, and it was Jesus. He was perfect. He never went off track. He never got off the beaten path. He never varied. He never sinned. It is so unbelievably wonderful that I can't stop thinking about it or talking about it. And that's why I'm here, because Jesus never sinned, but Greg has and Greg does. And so we all have sinned. Romans 3:23 says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We have all sinned and we all mess up. So we're gonna mess up. We need an answer for our sin or our mess-ups, and that answer is Jesus. But we also need a model to imitate. And while we're walking through that, we're told to imitate Christ. And as we imitate him, you know, it's hard to be God. In fact, it's impossible to be God. So the best we can do is to imitate what we see. And why I'm here and why I'm teaching this episode, or this teaching, this lesson, is because this pattern— I think it's a pretty cool pattern if you will apply it to your life.— or to your ministry and use this to help lead people to God. Because the whole goal of this Christian walk, I believe, is to get people out of the camp of the enemy and into the kingdom of God. So we are to help people break free of all the lies, deceit, deception and then help them be ushered into the kingdom of God. God's way of doing things. And the first way of doing things, and the first thing that we see in that pattern, remember, it is being about the Father's business. And then I put the fourth thing just because it's probably the second thing, but we had to talk about some other things. What is Father's business? And it is if we're gonna do the work of God, And remember it said it in John 6:29, "Then Jesus answered and said to them, 'This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he sent.'" So the work is, our work is to help people believe in him whom he sent. We are to help people believe in Jesus whom Father God sent. And that's our job. That's the, we're working for God. If we're telling people about Jesus, And I've heard somebody say, and I can't give credit to it, but do in everything you do in, in your life, tell somebody about the Lord Jesus. And when you absolutely have no other way to do it, use words. Now that sounds kind of cool, and I think that, that he was meaning if someone's watching you and you know the people are watching you, that you're not always going to be able to tell people about Jesus. So tell people in your world about Jesus by the way you act, by the way that you react. But I believe in order to do the works of God, in order to have them believe in him whom he sent, we have to speak out the word of God. We have to tell them the good news. We have to tell them about Jesus. We have to tell them about repentance., and we have to pray for them. Because in the same chapter in John, it says that unless the Father draws a man to himself, it is impossible for him to be saved. And that is in John 6:44: No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. And in John 6:56: And he said, therefore I have said to you that no one can come to me unless it's been granted to him by my Father. And I want us to think— and I've got a t-shirt company, and I'm not going to talk about that, but it is based around a concept of helping people witness, be a better witness for Christ. And it's based on prayer, wear, and share. And the prayer is asking God, Father God, to draw someone in your life to them. I think that prayer is important, and that's probably the next step in our Jesus model But I'm gonna pick this up on the next episode. But let's pray. God, I thank you so much for sending your Son. Holy Spirit, thank you for never leaving us nor forsaking us. Thank you for being so kind and faithful and for leading us into all truth. We thank you, we love you, and we ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you on the next episode.
