Do You Have A Different Spirit Conclusion

Caleb and Joshua trusted God when the other 10 spies panicked. The host says only about 16-20% of believers have this "different spirit" that moves from just reading the Bible to truly believing it. He ends with a prayer affirming listeners as God's favorite.

Welcome to episode 80. We're going to begin this episode like we do every other episode, in the Gospel of John 1:1.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 80. If you have been with me for a while, I know you and I both know you are a word fanatic. And if this is your first time, we are— you're kind of coming in at the middle or at the end of the play, but we are on the conclusion. I want to welcome you for coming in, but I— we are on the conclusion of do you have a different spirit. We've been talking about the 12 spies that's found in Numbers 13 and 14, and all of the anticipation. God was giving his children a gift. We're going to kind of— I'm going to kind of rehash where we've been. God was all fired up that he was about to send— give his children the land that's flowing with milk and honey. He had been preparing this land. He got the grapes huge. He had sent the spies. He had commanded Moses to send 12 spies out. The 12 spies went out and they brought a bad report back. When we left yesterday, the glory of the Lord had entered into the tabernacle of meeting before all of the children. And that was found in Numbers 14:10. Let me read it. And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. Now the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of meeting before all of the children of Israel. 7 Then the LORD said to Moses, How long will these people reject me, and how long will they not believe me, with all the signs which I performed among them? I will strike them with pestilence, and disinherit them, and I will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they. 8 And then Moses said to the LORD, Then the Egyptians will hear it, For by your might you brought these people up from among them, and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you, Lord, are among these people, that you, Lord, are seen face to face, and your cloud stands before— stands above them, and you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night. Now if you kill these people As one man, then the nations which have heard of your fame will speak, saying, because the Lord was not able to bring this people to the land which he swore to give them, therefore he killed them in the wilderness. So Moses is pleading. Moses knows the score. Moses knows that if he don't do something— and again, I want you to remember, this is before Jesus, this is Old Testament, and so there is not a savior. So God, in the Old Testament way of handling things and the New Testament way of handling things, this is the same God. He loves his people, but he is fired up. And when I told you way back, way at the beginning, there's 3 things that I wanted you to remind you of: that you are God's favorite, that God is not mad at you, and that Jesus is one day closer to his return today than he was yesterday. Those 3 things, I can assure you that right now God is not mad at you, but I can promise you God was mad at the Israelis here, the Israelites. They made him mad, and he was ready to wipe them out as one man and start over with Moses. And if you remember, I mean, you know, the rocks would cry. You know, they said that if you don't praise the Lord, the rocks will cry out. God can do whatever God wants to do, and God was wanting to use the people to show his power and his might through his people. And he wants to do that with you and I today, but we have to be a willing vessel. But we're getting back. Moses stood in the gap. Now, Moses was the— their mediator. We have Jesus now. We have a much stronger and a much better mediator. Not that Moses was bad. Moses did a good thing here standing before the people. And then Moses then prays. He says, and now I pray, let the power of your— of my Lord be great, just as you have spoken, saying, the Lord is long-suffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgressions, but he by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation. Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of your mercy, just as you have forgiven this people from Egypt even until now. 19 Then the LORD said, I have pardoned according to your word. 20 But truly as I live, all of the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD! 21 Because all these men who have seen my glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put me to the test now these 10 times, and have not heeded my voice, 22 they certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of them who have rejected me see it. But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it. And then he reiterates in 14:38. Let's go back to 36. Now the men who Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation complain against him by bringing a bad report of the land, Those very men who brought the evil report about the land died by the plague before the Lord. But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive of all the men who went out to spy. Well, there you go. Caleb and Joshua had the different spirit. And if you were wondering what it means to have a different spirit, I believe it just means to believe the word of God. And I've said this, um, I don't know if a million times, I've said it multiple times, we need to stop reading our Bible, stop carrying your Bible, stop reading your Bible, and start believing what you read. There is a huge difference. I know it don't sound like much, but you just start calling words when you start reading your Bible But if you take time to believe what you read, it will change your life. I'm telling you, if you want to be the 16.7%, 16.67%, or I'm gonna round it to 20%, that 80/20 rule, if you wanna be the 20% that has a different spirit, you've got to start believing what you read. You can't just read it, you've gotta just meditate on it. You've gotta start planning it. You've got, it is the incorruptible seed, and you need to plant it into your heart and into your soul, and you need to let it take root, and you need to let it start growing and producing. And again, like I've talked in a previous episode, you cannot plant a seed of corn and have that corn ready to harvest the next day. It, that just does not happen. It does not happen in the Word, with the Word of God. It does not happen with a natural seed. And it does not happen anywhere that it takes growth. Growth does not happen overnight. Now you see the overnight successes, and I will promise you it's probably a 10 or 20 year trek, and maybe even more, because I started this almost 30 years ago. I, I guess I'm 28 years old in the Lord in 1993, and this has been a process. And all of that which you're hearing today has been a process of just, you know, going, following the Lord, messing up, falling down, picking myself back up and striving to do better. Not always doing better. And that's why I say perfection is not the goal. Perfection is not the goal. The enemy is going to come to condemn you, but there is now therefore no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. We are spirit people. We are people of the word. We need to start living by the spirit, and we need to start living by his word. And his word is spirit, and it's truth. The Holy Spirit is with us. Jesus is the word. All of this is going to tie together, but we have got to get in. And the first thing we've got to do besides read the Bible, we got to believe what we read. Well, I just looked up at the clock and that is— we're getting close to my 10-minute mark. I want to thank you for being a part of this. Caleb and Joshua, 2 of the 12, 1 out of 6. That's where I get that 16.67%. It is a math equation.
It is.
And these were, these were leaders. These were Israelis, the Israelites. These were people of God. These were God's chosen people who he led out of Egypt. So we can't say these were of the— this 20 thing is of the world. This 80/20 thing is of the church. And when we look at— and in tomorrow's episode, I'm gonna one more time— I— this is the conclusion for the, the 80/20 thing, but I want to kind of describe again why I think it may be— it's simple to— the Christian walk is simple, but why Jesus said it was wide and narrow. But let me pray. God, I thank you for the person listening to this podcast right now. You know right where they are. Holy Spirit, you are with them. You've never left them nor forsake them. They are your favorite. God, I want you to remind them that the person listening to my voice is absolutely your favorite, and if you had a refrigerator in heaven, their picture would be all over it. Lord, show— Holy Spirit, show them the love that's in you, that is in God. And I pray that you would just love on your child right there, your favorite. And I pray that whatever they're doing today, they will do it to the best of the ability to give you glory. God, I thank you for being a part of me. I thank you for being a part of this world, and I thank you for being with this person that is listening right now. And I ask it all in Jesus' name.
Amen.
Well, thank you for being here, and I will talk to you on the next episode.
