Endued with power transforming from a stud to an extension chord in the spirit realm Part 3

Greg Ryan uses the metaphor of an extension cord to explain how believers access God's power through the Holy Spirit. He cites Matthew 10:8 and Acts to argue that churches often lack the fire-hose-level empowerment available through baptism in the Spirit, and that pride blocks this connection.
Welcome to episode 185, In the Beginning Was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 185. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I told you that I was going to finish up today. I am not going to finish up today with Endued with Power, but I am going to finish up the analogy that goes with the extension cord. If this is your first time here, we have been talking about becoming endued with power and we have become a new creation based on the Word of God that when we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we became an extension cord. And I've got to picture everything, and so I'm picturing myself as this extension cord, and I've got a male end and I've got a female end. When we are baptized and dude with power, Jesus plugs us into the power source, and the Holy Spirit is the power source, or is the one that conducts the power of God And so we are now plugged in and ready to go. And I just want to continue this lesson with that in mind, and I want to talk about this extension cord, because there's another end to this extension cord. And that is what I want to talk about now, is that the extension cord laying on my garage floor doesn't do us any good until I plug another appliance into that extension cord. And I just want you to picture my wife giving me a project that needs a hole in a piece of wood. And I've got this 2x4, and I've got this drawing that says I need a 3/4-inch hole in this piece of wood, and I need it right here. I've got it all marked out, but I have no way of getting that hole in there without my drill. So then I go get my drill, and my drill is useless. I want you to see this, and I know I'm being oversimplistic, but I've got this drill that has got a cord on it and it has a male outlet and it has, it is looking for a power source. And it has no ability on its own to drill the hole. It has got to have some help. And that is why I believe the Bible says that God tells us to give love one to another. We have to take our love, the love of God and the love for our fellow man. If somebody needs help, and I'm specifically talking about healing now, that if somebody needs healing, I need you to think about this drill. I need this hole, and I've got this drill. It's got a power cord on it, but it's not attached to anything. So I've got my extension cord laying in my garage. It's plugged to the power source, and it's just laying there. Well, I take the power cord, and I take the drill, and I connect them. Based on the connection, and then now that drill comes to life. That drill now has power, and it's not the drill's power, and it's not the extension cord's power. It is SWEPCO's power. This is the power that SWEPCO has given me to run my house. This is the power. I have absolutely no idea how SWEPCO makes the power. Don't know, don't care. I just know that the power is at my house and it's on my command. The extension cord laying there and it's plugged up to the power source, I am spending a penny with that extension cord being plugged into that wall because I'm not drawing any power out of it. So it's not costing me anything to have that thing plugged into my garage and having it on the floor. The other thing it really cost me is when Mona says, what are you gonna do with that power cord? I'm sick of that extension cord laying there. Now that does cost me some love points, but it doesn't cost me anything money-wise. It cost me nothing to be connected to the power source, but when I draw on that power Swept Co. charges me a fee for that power. Now, it's not a big fee, but I— and I'm not even going to talk about the fee because God so freely gives. He tells us in Matthew, and I'm going to go to that, let's go to that right real quick. And this is in Matthew 10:8: Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. We have received this gift of healing and this power freely from God. Now, the disciples were given authority because Jesus had the authority here on earth to give us that. But when Jesus went to the right hand of the Father, he said— and it's one of our favorite scriptures, it's in John 16:7— nevertheless, I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I depart, I will send him to you. And you and I both know that Jesus is gone. He's sitting at the right hand of the Father. He has sent his Spirit, and that is what we're talking about. That, that is what being endued with power is all about. It is about receiving this gift from the Holy Spirit, allowing Jesus to plug us into this power source. And that's all I want. It's nothing fancy, it's nothing convoluted. This is just the next step, and we're going to see when we go up the mountain, or when we get— after we're endued with power. Jesus told us to wait, and we've already talked about this, but we need to be endued with power. And, and I've heard an example, you know, do you want to take on hell? And if you figure this fiery gates, you know, everyone's seen the, the picture of hell, you know, brimstone, all this just hot in hell. Do you want to go? It says the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church. Do you want to go take on the gates of hell with a squirt gun, or do you want to take it on with a fire hose? Do you want this just massive fire hose? When they have these big wildfires and they drop this, these plane loads full of water, they just fly over. And just think about this never-ending water source, and that you have this big plane load of water living on the inside of you, and every time you see a fire you just pull this cord, you have the ability to put out any fire that the enemy puts either in your life or in one of your loved ones or anybody that you come in contact with. You have that power on the inside of you, and that's what we're talking about. That is what I believe is missing in the church. We're going to get into what— when some of Jesus' teachings— and I think he was specifically talking about, because God sees the end from the beginning, but he saw this was going to be a problem. And I think this is a problem in the church today, and I think it's one of the reasons why people are leaving. Now, there's multiple reasons, and the Bible did say that there's going to be a great apostasy in the end times, and that is falling away. That's a fancy-pants Christian word for falling away, that there's going to be a falling away from scriptural truths and from following the truth of God. And that, I believe, is happening But I don't think it has to happen. I think that if we came in, I believe God is going to supernaturally pour out his Spirit again one more time just because he's so compassionate before he comes back. I think, and I'm getting ready for, and I'm trying to get you ready for this outpouring of the Holy Spirit. You start reading Acts and it talks about a former and a latter rain. We are the latter rain. I believe that you and I are going to be part of that latter rain and that we will have the ability to allow the Holy Spirit to work through us. But we gotta be plugged in before he's gonna be able to work through us. And again, I want to take you to the, to the squirt gun or this big old plane with this lever that every time you see a problem, you just dump this big old bucket, this plane-filled bucket of water. And it's Holy Spirit, why? It's living water. And living water is like a million times more powerful than H2O here on earth for putting out a fire. Most of the church is walking around with a little squirt gun, and they see a problem and they go, "Squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt," and they start squirting at this problem. And I think Satan just kind of gets out of the way or says, "That's kind of dumb." And so we walk away. I don't know how it looks in the spirit realm, but I know that when I'm submitted, I read the Bible and it says, "Submit yourself therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee." We have to be submitted, and that's in James, I think it's 4:6, 4:7. But when we submit ourselves to God, then we can resist the devil. And then he'll— and resisting doesn't mean, "Dear devil, please quit bothering me." Resisting is getting in his face in the power of God, and he is not afraid. And we've already talked about this on multiple episodes, but Satan's not afraid of you. Satan is not afraid of me. If I start shaking my fist at Satan, he can mash me, and I understand that. But when I am fully submitted to Jesus and I have presented myself to him a living sacrifice, it's no longer me living. We've already done that. The crucified with Christ, it's no longer me who lives, but the Holy Spirit lives inside of us. But by faith, when we walk into this situation, and by faith we know it's God's Spirit on the inside of us when we submit ourselves to God, then we resist the devil, then we get in his face, then we kick the gates of hell. The gates of hell shall not prevail against his church. But the church has to have some power. The church has to be submitted, fully submitted and humble before God, and know that it's not our power, but it's also God has given us this power so that we will use it and we'll use it for good and we'll use it to build his kingdom. And I believe this is where— and I'm looking at the clock and I'm— there is no way I'm going to finish this today. This has got to get on the inside of you. You have got to see yourself powerful. If this is something missing in your life, I just believe that you just need to start seeking this free gift. It is a gift of God. It is easy to get. It was really the, the biggest problem with me is that I have kept getting in the way. God, I'm sure, was wanting to give it to me, but I was so prideful. I'll try to link to my testimony of when I got baptized in the Holy Spirit, but I'm telling you, it was all Greg. It was Greg's problem. It was not God's problem. God wasn't withholding anything from me, but he resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. And I was proud. I didn't know I was prideful, but I was. I was prideful, but I was thinking I was going to do— I'm not going to make this stuff up. I'm not going to walk around and mumbo jumbo talk and all that stuff. And that's just the wrong attitude. It's— I come to God now, I don't make any declarations on how God uses me or what he could do. I just tell God, here I am, I'm ready. And so I want to stop there. I want to pray. God, I thank you so much for this listener. I thank you for this person that follows us. Lord, if he's— if he or she is here for the first time, I pray in Jesus' name that you would just encourage them Lord, and I pray that you would empower them to take the next step. And for this fanatic, Lord, if they keep coming back, praise God for this fanatic, but I want to encourage them, if they have not been baptized in the Holy Spirit, that you would start quickening in their spirit the need to be endued with power, Lord, that your word is true and that it's for today. It's not— it didn't go away the after the first 100 years after you had gone to be at the right hand of the Father. Your Spirit is available to us today, just as it was for the apostles back at the early church. Lord, we thank you, we love you, we ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you on the next episode.
