Faith and Hope How t Deal with Unbelief Part 3

In episode 99 of the No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, host Greg Ryan delivers an extended teaching on the nature of unbelief and the minimal faith required for a Christian life. He begins by recalling Jesus’ teaching that even a mustard‑seed amount of faith can move mountains, referencing Matthew 17:20‑21 and Luke 17. Greg argues that the real obstacle is not a lack of faith but entrenched unbelief, which is reinforced by the world, the flesh, and Satan. He emphasizes the necessity of renewing the mind through Scripture (Romans 12:2) to replace sensory‑based, worldly programming with God‑centered thinking. Using analogies of operating‑system incompatibility, he illustrates how believers must “re‑install” God’s Word to overwrite old mental tracks. Greg also discusses the three enemies (Satan, flesh, world), the distinction between spirit, soul, and body, and the transformative miracle of salvation that grants each believer a measure of faith (Romans 12:3). The episode ends with a prayer for listeners and a teaser for the upcoming 100th episode.
Welcome to episode 99, In the Beginning Was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 99, and you and I both know that math is not an exact science, but we are one episode away from the century mark, and I'm excited. I, to be honest with you, I, I did not clearly see this day, but it's just— and we're going to talk about that on episode 100, but I'm a little bit fired up to see what God's going to do with all of these episodes. I am just I got my head down and I am getting after it. I am loving— I love teaching the Bible. I hope you like listening. I appreciate you being out there, and I just want to say thank you. If you come and listen every day, I want to thank you for being a part of my life, and I'm excited about continuing on in this. And I thank you for all the encouraging words, and I really do appreciate it. Well, enough of that. Let's keep going on with the unbelief We concluded yesterday with Jesus getting on to his disciples and telling them that it was because of their unbelief. And I want to make sure that we all understand how little faith we need. Now, in the previous episode, I talked about how if you had the faith where Jesus said, if you just had the faith of a mustard seed, you could say unto the mountain, be thou removed, and it would have to obey you. And I'm paraphrasing, and that's in Matthew 17:20-21. So Jesus made the example, or Jesus said, you know, you don't need more faith, you need the faith of a mustard seed. You need a little faith and less unbelief is the point that he was making. I want us to take, take us to Luke 17, and we're going to start in verse 1. Then he said to his disciples, it is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they come. It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Take heed to yourself! If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you 7 times in a day, and 7 times in a day returns to you saying, 'I repent,' you shall forgive him. And the apostle said to him, Lord, Increase our faith. So the Lord said, if you have the faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea, and it would obey you. Again, this is a second time where Jesus is talking about just having small faith. This is what I want— this is the point I want to make, is that it's not the faith that's holding us back, it is our unbelief. It is the stuff. And that's why we got to get out of this world. Remember, we've got 3 enemies We've got Satan, we've got our flesh, but we have the world. And if all we're listening to and if all we're taking into our five senses is the news or anything on Facebook or anything that's not the Word of God— and here we go, soapbox time— you have got to get in the Word of God to fight against Satan, the world, and your flesh. That is why you get into the Word, is so that you can walk in the Spirit. And it's not so, you know, the Christian walk is simple. But it's not easy. The simple part is all you got to do is read it and believe it and then walk it out. The difficult part is, is you're thinking and you're looking with your eyes of your head and your ears on your head, and you're looking through all of these senses that you have, and your body's going, this can't be right, or, you know, that pain, I've got that pain. In my back or in my shoulder or my head, there's no way I can get that out with just speaking to it. That's where the unbelief is, because over and over again we've done it one way, and so we've got laid down tracks in our brain that this is how it works. And so your mind— that's why it says in Romans 12:2, and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. You've got to renew your mind because you've laid these tracks down of the old you. I, I know I did it for the first 29 years of my life. I've told you I didn't know God from a billy goat, so everything that I did was based on my 5 senses. People would argue that some of it, most of it was sin, but I didn't go around sinning all the time. I'd messed up all the time, But most of the time I was trying to do right. I was trying not to hurt people. I was trying to do what I thought was the right thing. I mean, when I tell you I was a schmo, it was based on the word of God. I was still kind to people. I wasn't trying to take advantage of people and stuff like that, but I was without God. The whole point that I'm trying to make is I was laying down— the only tracks in my mind that I was laying down was based on my 5 senses. So when you renew your mind, when you start— that's how you get the unbelief out, is that you start putting in new thoughts and you start putting in new seeds and you start putting in new tracks. So when something comes on you, you then go, oh no, the Word of God says this, and you start bringing the Word of God to it instead of what your mind or what your old programming— if you can think of yourself as if you've got an iPhone You've got, I think, the ISO programming in there. Now, if you have an Android, you've got the— and I don't even know, I'm talking out of school— but you've got two different types of programs that are written on two different types of phones. If you put the ISO on an Android phone, it wouldn't work properly, or it may not work at all. If you're trying to run an Apple program on a Microsoft product, you have to have some kind of conversion program to get that to work. You can't just run that just straight. You just can't take some kind of Apple program and throw it on a Microsoft program, or inverse vice. You can't do Microsoft— you can't do Windows and put it on an Apple product. You've got to have some kind of converting software, or you have to have a Windows software that's written specifically for the Mac. And the point I'm trying to make is we come wired with the wrong wiring. We, we have to renew our minds with the Word of God. That's why we read the Bible. That's why we listen to the Bible. And faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. And it's not with the ears that we're talking about. You can listen to the Bible on CD or in, in your car, on a podcast or anything. You can listen to someone read you the Bible, but that's not— I don't believe that's what the Bible is talking about when it says faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. It's not just talking about hearing, it's talking about thinking about it and meditating on it and digging it around inside of you and turning it over and studying it. And it says that if you seek me, you will find me when you seek me with all your heart. God wants you to put— go all in on him, and he wants you to just throw into this thing. It's impossible to please him without faith. The just shall live by faith. But you don't need a huge amount of faith. In fact, you get the measure of faith when you get saved. And you find that in the next verse in Romans 12:3. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each man the measure of faith. You have a measure of faith that was given to you. It's Jesus's faith. Jesus— God gives you the faith to believe and to be saved. That's salvation faith. Then you— that's the same faith— you become— your spirit man becomes just like Jesus in a, in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye. You go from having a dead spirit to being alive in Christ. You go— and I don't know how it happens, don't, don't ask me to explain how it happens. It is a miracle of God. It is the first miracle and the best miracle. And it is when you're changed from— you're a— you are translated from the kingdom of Satan to the kingdom of God. You are— you go into an entirely new kingdom. That's why the Bible says we are not of this world, because we've been taken out of this world. That is our spirit man. Our spirit man is in heavenly places. Don't really understand that either, but our spirit man is not here. It's here and it's there. And don't, don't ask me to explain it. I'm still trying to get all this in my head. But I know that I am 100%— one-third of me is 100% just like Jesus. My spirit man is exactly how it's going to be in heaven for eternity. So I am 100% God-like on the inside of my spirit. Now my body is zero godlike. I mean, my body is just a tent. We've talked about this before. It is the reason that we're walking around. We got to have something here on earth. It's got to have a body. So I'm walking around in this body, and my soul is what we're battling over. And that's your mind, will, and emotion. And that's what we've got to change. And that's where the unbelief is living. And that's where we've got to dig it out.
And I—
there is no way that I'm going to finish this teaching on unbelief. And I'm going to have to pick this teaching up next week because this is going to go longer if I start going into the next point. It's going to go a lot longer than I want. And so I want to stop here and I'm going to pray. God, I thank you so much for the person listening to this. Lord, I thank you for giving me the word relentless. And Lord, we're going to talk about this on the next episode, but thank you for giving me the ability to just put my head down and just go for what you're putting me on. And I thank you, Lord, and I thank you for the person listening. And I pray right now in the name of Jesus that you would touch them, Lord. You know what they need, and I pray in Jesus' name that they would receive it from you right now, Lord. As they're reaching out by faith, I pray that your hand— it is not short, I know it is not short, Lord— touch them where they need.. And I thank you, Lord. We love you, and we ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you on the 100th episode. I'll talk to you then.
