Finding your place in building Gods Kingdom

Greg Ryan reflects on his father's funeral to explore mortality and God's timelessness. He cites Psalm 90:12 and urges listeners to "number their days" and find their place in God's kingdom rather than building their own. Faith, he says, is the only tool to fulfill God's plan.
Welcome to episode 205.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 205. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, today I want to talk about what I talked about last episode. I want to continue on the thought none of us are going to make it out of here alive. I just nicely got out of my father's funeral, and so I'm a little bit raw, and I just want to take advantage of those feelings. I want to take advantage of the time. And I want to talk about time, and I want to talk about how God's time is not like our time, but we are stuck in time. And that's a lot of time going on in this episode. Kind of wanted to throw out a couple of verses and maybe get you thinking, because I've been thinking for about a week. This is where I'm at, so I figured might as well share where I'm— what's going on in my pea brain and see if any of y'all out there are kind of feeling the same way, or maybe You could use these episodes or this episode to help you refocus on the things that are important. And with that in mind, let's go to Psalm 90:12. So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. And after you walk out of a funeral, you understand pretty clearly that your days here on this earth are numbered. For some reason, we never really take serious the thought of us being in that box. And I don't know what it is. I don't know if we put that in the back of our mind, if we don't really want to think about it, if that's something that other people should be thinking about. But it got me thinking. The kingdom of God— one of the characteristics of the kingdom of God, or God's characteristics, is he knows the end from the beginning. And we talked about that in the last episode in Psalm 139. Where he knew the number of days that were written in the book before you and I were ever born. So God knows my day. He knows what day I'm slated to come up there to him. He knows the exact minute, the exact second. He knows right when I'm going. So nothing is going to take God by surprise. But I have no idea. I have no idea if it's tomorrow, next Thursday, if it's 40 years from now. I have no idea. And to number my days. And I was praying one time and asking God, I can't exactly remember what I was praying, but I thought, you know, I'm going to ask God to help me number my days. And I got the thought in my head and said, don't pray that prayer. If you had a week to live, you'd learn to number your days. I think that God's kind of protecting us. I, you know, I don't know if that was indigestion or pizza. But I had the thought that don't, don't pray that, because the only real way you could number your days is if you got like a death sentence. You got 2 weeks to live and you'd know you got 14 days, and then the countdown would hit. And I don't think that's a good place for anybody to be in. I think that God is just merciful and he knows everything and he knows the end from the beginning. But if we could take this same knowledge that we have a day out there in the future that we are going to stand before God, and then use that day to work backwards in our life. And that's kind of what I talked about before with the Kingdom of God teaching, but I never really had the funeral of my dad as the backdrop. And so with that backdrop in my mind, clearly in my mind, it brings on a whole new dimension for me. It brings me to a different place that one day we're going to be standing in front of God, and we are going to hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant," or we're going to hear, "Welcome." I don't know about you, but I just want to hear, "Well done." I want to hear Father God say, "Attaboy, Greg! Well done, my good and faithful servant." That is my goal. That is my eternity goal. And in order to do that, and that's why I'm here on this podcast, is I want to just encourage you And I think that's kind of what God gave me. He gave me the gift of teaching, and he gave me a little bit of a gift of encouragement. I guess I tell people sometimes my superpower, it's not that difficult for me to encourage people. Like, if I see somebody doing something good, I try to catch people doing something good. And so when I see that, I try to encourage people. I mean, all that aside, I think my well done, my good and faithful servant as I'm praying, as I'm seeking God, and as I'm walking through this life, is to help you, or to help people in the body of Christ, hear well done. If I can help you, maybe get you aware that that day's coming, and get you in the word of God, and get you all fired up about growing the kingdom of God, and finding you your place in the kingdom of God and in the body of Christ. Instead of building our kingdom, instead of Greg building Greg's kingdom, I I think God wants me to build his kingdom, and then Greg will be rewarded. When you boil everything down, we're gonna live, we're gonna die, and then we're gonna stand before God. And when you stand before God, I think what God is expecting you and I to do is build his kingdom and to bring his kids into his kingdom or into his heaven, or into his world, on his side, to be translated into his family. If we don't lead other brothers and sisters to Christ, it's kind of brutal. Hell is— hell is forever. Eternity is forever. We're either saying that the Bible isn't true, or we don't have a place in God's kingdom. If we're not going out and actively participating in building his kingdom, then there's a disconnect somewhere. The Most High God is trying, and I think this is really, honestly, I think the Bible, the more I read it and the more I study, the more I think it's a love story in the middle of a turf war. That's as simple and as concise as I can put this, is that we're in the middle of this turf war from different warring entities, principalities and powers, the sons of God. There's divine beings fighting it out. There's one true and superior God, Most High God, and he towers far and above. But he set these ground rules out, and these other lesser gods are battling using the rules that God set forth. And part of the rules, you and I have to use faith. It's impossible to please God without faith. And that as we walk through this life using our faith, building with, with kingdom resolution, we building the kingdom of God by faith, even though we can't see what's being built, even though we're not gonna see the finished product, we're putting our piece together as we're called to do. If we can see our place in God's body and how we are to build his kingdom, I think we're gonna hear, well done. That's what God's waiting on. He's waiting on you and I to start getting in to God's kingdom building plan. I hope I got my ladder up against the Kingdom of God plan. Now, I've put my ladder up against all kinds of different things and started climbing and got about halfway up and thought, well, crud, I'm on the wrong dadgum wall. I'm climbing up on the wrong ladder. So then I got to climb down, or I got to fall down, or whatever I got to do. And then I grab my ladder and I push it up against something else. But I am now dedicating— and this relentless word, I mean, I've continue. I did not want to come on here this week. I just be honest with you, I kind of wanted to sit and have a pity party. Because I said come rain or shine I was gonna make an episode, that's what I'm doing. I hope as I'm thinking, as I'm studying, that this kingdom of God, the end from the beginning, if we can see the end with this in mind, and next week I'm going to talk about what I think we ought to start doing and kind of maybe get a game plan. But I just want to touch base. I just want you to get to thinking, and it's kind of where I'm at, is that we're all going to face the end one day, and, and God knows that day. And I want to remind you that God's days are not like yours and my days. And we'll go to 2 Peter 3:8, but beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day. God's days are not like our days, and God's time— he's really not caught in time, but God's not in any hurry. Remember we talked about before that God walked almost everywhere he went when he was here on earth. So remember, God's not in a hurry and he's not nervous or anxious. So let's just trust God and get in his word, and let's get after this, and let's finish in Psalm Psalm 139:16. Your eyes saw my substance being yet unformed, and in your book they were written, the days fashioned for me when as yet there were none of them. So before I was ever born, before I was ever took one breath on this earth, God had the book out and he wrote all my days out. He had them all planned out. Now that doesn't mean he micromanaged. This is what God created me to do. And the more I get into his will and the more I start doing the things that he created me to do, I think the easier life is going to be and the better and more joyful and more happy— I don't know about happy, but the, the more fulfilled maybe that I'll be. I don't know, I'm just, I'm praying, I'm seeking, and I'm knocking, and I'm asking. And I just believe that God's going to open some doors for you and I that weren't ready to be opened yet. And I pray that he would just continue to just lead me down this path and just open the doors that no man can shut. I'm walking this path. I'm being faithful. We're not always going to want to be out there. And I don't even want to sound like I'm whining. I mean, I'm glad I'm talking to you, but it is with a heavy heart that I'm coming with you. I'm still not over it. And I don't know when you get over it. It's going to be a minute, I think. I'm going to continue to come on here. I'm going to continue to talk. I'm going to stay in his word, and that's where I get the most comfort. And the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, and I think he leads us into all truth. As I'm reading his word and I'm praying and meditating on life and on his word, I think the Holy Spirit is just leading me, and I pray that he's leading you as we walk through this life together. So let's pray real quick. God, I thank you so much for everything that you're doing in my life. God, I thank you for the days that I've had thus far, and I thank you for the days that are ahead of me, whether it be 1 or 30 more years, Lord. I just thank you for every one, and to help me live and learn to live in the present. And God, I thank you, you sent your Son for me, and he died for me,, and I thank you that he died for the whole world. And this listener that's listening right now, I thank you that, that you sent Jesus to die for him or her, and it's awesome. It is great news, Lord. It's, it's, it's better than good news, but I think it's incredible, and I'm so thankful that you are my God. God, we thank you. We love you. We ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you in the next episode.
