God's timing is not on our timetable. Free Online Bible Study

God's timing operates on a different scale than ours. The speaker uses 2 Peter 3:8-9 and Abraham's story, who waited decades for God's promise at age 99, to show how discouragement becomes a weapon when we see no immediate results. Worship and persistent faith matter more than the timeline.

Hey, good morning everybody. Hey, I want to go back to— we're still talking about Abram, but I want to talk about God's timing. And this probably— this teaching is probably more for me than for you, but there's probably somebody out there that needs to hear this too. But as I was studying, uh, 2 Peter— it's 2 Peter 3:8 and 9— came into my head, and it says, but beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. So God's timing, and I've taught that God's timing, you've probably heard that God's ways are not our ways, it's in the word, and his timings are not our timing. But just because you're believing the word of God doesn't speed him up. And that's kind of where sometimes we get tripped up and why people, ah, this is so hard, because we're believing, we're using the word and we're declaring it and believing it, but things are still the same. And so I just want— I wanted to bring this scripture out to remind you that, you know, all the power is in the spirit realm. God is a spirit, and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth. And we are really trying to— we're really trying to just pull it, pull out, and that's where faith comes as we go into the spirit realm and pull out promises. But I want to talk about Abram, and, and I apologize, my phone, I forgot to silence it. You can tell this is live, this is unscripted. So anyway, I wanted, I wanted to go back. We're talking about, you know, God's timing is not the same as, as our timing, and that God is, is spirit, and we must worship him in spirit and in truth. God is in the spirit realm, so we got to reach out there and do that. But then when we, we reach out there and we believe a word and it doesn't happen, then we get discouraged. And that comes from the other guy, that comes from the punk. But, and that's one of his, it's a physical weapon that he's got, is discouragement. It works on our emotions. But I want you to, I want you to read, uh, remember when Abram got, was called out of his land, his father's country, he was 75 years old. And in Genesis 17 it says, when Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, I am Almighty God, walk before me and be be blameless. And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly. Then Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be called Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. And so I just want to, I mean, to encourage you that if you're believing and you're standing on the Word of God, I mean, Abram was also believing God, and a lot of things happened in those 24 years, and we'll touch on some of that, but I mean, you don't have to be perfect because Abram wasn't perfect, but he just kept believing. He just held on to that word. And that's what I just want to encourage you today. I want you to hold on even when you got distractions, you know, like when your live feed screws up or you get a phone call. I mean, things happen in life. So I just want to encourage you that, you know, God is with you. He has never left you nor forsaken you. He knows right where you are, and his timing is perfect, but he's not working on the same calendar we are. So I want to encourage you, I hope that helps. Sorry about all the disruptions, but I mean, I control as much as I can control. But take care of yourself. Thanks again for stopping by, and I'll pick this up and try to put it all together tomorrow. Take care, bye.
