How to be fearless using faith in the word of God and your voice

Greg Ryan teaches that faith becomes active when you speak Scripture aloud. He distinguishes God-given fear from the spirit of fear believers shouldn't accept, arguing that action and spoken confession destroy anxiety. Romans 10:9, Colossians 2:6, and Mark 11:22-24 show how speaking the Word empowers daily living.
Welcome to episode 237.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 237. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, I am continuing on with our Fearless teaching, and we are going to learn how to kick fear just dead in the teeth. And with that, we're going to have to take it on head-on. We can't play with fear. This is something that we need to destroy out of our lives. Now, there are some natural fears. We talked about this in the previous episode. There are things that are natural, the quick fear, the fight-or-flight fear, that is natural, that's God-given, but God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. So if you're constantly fearful, if you're constantly anxious or nervous or worried, you have got to bind that up in Jesus' name and we have got to throw it out. We gotta get it out of our lives and it's easier said than done, But in my life and in the last year or so, I have really found that action destroys fear. When we're just sitting around, and I think Satan has had a field day with all of this COVID, all of this nervous, anxious, lockdown garbage that we have— he's kind of planted us in a spot. And so we're kind of sitting around and we're in our head more than we should be, and we're not taking action. And if you are like that, if you've been sitting around and you're fearful or you're worried about taking action, that's from the enemy. I don't think you need to be crazy, and I don't think you need to go out looking for trouble, but I also believe that you have got to trust in the Word of God. You have got to trust that God is looking out for you. And again, we're going to talk about faith being voice activated. We have got to speak with our mouth. We've got to believe in our heart, and we've got to say it out loud. The same way that we were saved— we're going to go to Colossians real quick— but the same way that we are saved is the same way that we exercise our faith. Because the first step of faith that you and I have to, or need to, or have already taken is that step of faith that accepts Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. And what Paul is going to say, and we're going to go to that real quick, and it's in Colossians 2:6, as you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him. And that is telling you, as you receive Jesus, and then we got to go to Romans because we— I have to remind you how you received, or how you are to receive Jesus if you haven't done it yet. I can't imagine that you haven't if you're listening to this podcast, unless you just stumbled across it. But let's go to Romans real quick. Romans 10:9, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture says, whoever believes on him will not be put to shame. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon him. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. And if you haven't listened to the previous episode, episode 236, I want to encourage you to go back and listen to that because I don't want to run back through a lot of that information. But we talked about your faith being voice activated, and you have to speak out of your mouth, and you get the confidence to speak after you hear the word of God, because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. You have got to be in the word of God. Again, here's your soapbox moment, probably number 2 this year, but you have got to listen. You have got to hear the word of God, and then that gives you the confidence to then start speaking what you have got inside of you. Faith, faith comes out of your mouth. You have got its voice activated You've got to speak it, and this is clear in Romans 10:9, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. And then Colossians 2:6, with that in mind, as you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him. How did you receive him? You spoke with your mouth the Lord Jesus, then you believed in your heart that God raised Christ from the dead, you shall be saved. Okay, so now we're going to take that to the next level. We know that we have an enemy. We know that the enemy comes to steal, to kill, and destroy. Jesus calls him the thief in John 10:10, and he said, I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly. And he uses the word they. I threw you in there because I want it to be about you. I don't want to— I don't know who they are, but they is just anybody who receives this. Jesus said, the thief does not come except to steal, to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. And they being anyone that accepts Jesus. If you, you are a they but you personally are the only person that I'm talking to right now, and I want to make this personal. And it's okay that if you can substitute— as long as you don't substitute the meaning— you substitute some words and personalize the Word of God for you. God is speaking directly to you when he is saying— he's telling you that Satan is a punk. He comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. We've talked about this on numerous episodes, but Satan's only job, the only thing the punk does, is steal, kill, or destroy. And he does all of that all the time, and he blames— he's very good at what he does. He's very deceptive. He lurks around in the spirit realm and then comes forth and does things in the physical realm, and then the sneaky little chump blames God for it. And if you don't believe me, look at any kind of insurance policy, and they call it an act of God. Like a tornado is an act of God, or a hurricane is an act of God. And that is so wrong, it's so misleading. There's probably some people that look at that and think, you know, why would God cause tornadoes? Well, God did not cause a tornado. God made a perfect world and we introduced sin into this world, and that's what got it all jacked up. The sin that came into the world has got everything out of balance, and I'm chasing a rabbit that I don't need to be running after. But I wanted you to understand, faith is voice activated, and the same way that you got saved is the same way that you walk in him. So you say it with your mouth and you believe it in your heart, and that is why you have to get the Bible inside of you. Because you have got to say it and you've got to believe it in your heart. And we go back to Mark 11:23, actually 22 and 23, where it says, have faith in God. For assuredly I say, whoever says to this mountain, be removed and cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you will have them. Now Jesus, he don't mix words on this thing, but we're just look at, and I want you to go to your own Bible and I want you to look at Mark 11:22-24, and I want you to see that when he starts saying, say, have faith in God, he's talking directly to you. Have faith in God. He's talking to his disciples, but you, if you abide in his word, you are his disciple. And so if you're in the word of God, if you've opened up this word to try to understand it, God is telling you to have faith in God. For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain— I want you to see how many times Jesus talked about faith being voice activated. Faith, you have got to say unto your mountain. And he's not talking about moving mountains, and I'm talking about like Mount Everest, or if you're in the Rockies or anywhere— I'm not very good with geography— but if you're staring at a mountain, God's not just talking about a mountain. This is how you move mountains. No, a mountain is anything that's standing in your way, any huge obstacle that you see in your life. And the one thing that I want to encourage you, if you see God, how big God is, if you can get Father God to be as big as he truly is, instead of putting him in a little box, instead of saying it's just God up in heaven somewhere. That God sent the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is with us all the time. Where any two or more gathered is touching any one thing, there he is with you. The Holy Spirit is always with you. It is incredible to think about how big and how powerful God is. He holds the whole universe in his hands. Can you imagine how big God is? And I want you to see how big your Father is and how much he loves you. But there is nothing to fear. And it says that fear of man is a snare. And when I'm talking on these podcasts, I just need to tell you, and I need to reiterate, that I am talking to myself. And what I find that I'm struggling with, or something that I need to be in the Bible and in the Word in, that's what I tend to teach on. And I, since I have declared that I'm going to be fearless, I have had a little bit of a, let's call it a hesitation, to promote the podcast and to promote the things that I'm doing. And so I'm going to kick fear out. I'm going to do the promotion. I'm going to do things that I believe that God is calling me to do. He said he would be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. He's not showing me the whole road. He's showing me a small portion of the path that I'm on, and he's, he's putting lamp down at my feet to make sure I don't stumble, and then he's lighting the path just ahead of me so that I know what to take, the next step to take. And what I'm doing is I'm just kicking fear dead in the teeth, and I'm going to allow you to, to be a part of this. And I want to encourage you that as I'm digging into these scriptures is I'm exercising my faith, and we're doing that by speaking out loud. And you're gonna feel a little bit— and maybe not, maybe you don't feel strange speaking out loud to inanimate objects. I mean, I know I do. When Jesus— if you go into Mark 11, he's teaching the lesson because he cursed the fig tree, and Jesus didn't grab it, Jesus didn't take an axe to it, Jesus spoke to it. He spoke to the fig tree. But the one thing I want you to see, and we're going to go up to Mark 11, finish up this podcast episode on this. Mark 11:14, in response, Jesus said to it, let no one eat fruit from you ever again. And his disciples heard it. Jesus spoke to the fig tree. That's how he cursed the fig tree. But I want you to see that the fig tree was talking to him. The fig tree had said, hey, I've got figs, I've got leaves. So the fig tree is talking to Jesus, and you can go back and read the whole story. It starts at Mark 11:12, and I'll let you read that because I know I have superior reading skills, but I just don't want to exercise them yet. I want you to kind of get— dig into the Bible instead of having me read it to you. I know you enjoy that, but I need you to start digging into the Word of God, and I need you to go to Mark 11:12-24. I want you to read that whole story and what kind of what went on, but I want you to think about how your faith is voice activated. And we got to have faith because faith— what we're trying to build, if you can picture a coin, that there's faith on one side and there's fear on the other. You can't operate in fear if you're operating in faith. So to be fearless, we've got to take action, and we got to take action by faith, and we got to use our voice. Well, that's enough. Let's pray real quick. God, I thank you so much for your word. I thank you, Jesus, for coming and living a perfect life for me and this listener and for anybody in this whole world. God, you are so good, and I thank you. We love you. We ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you on the next episode.
