How to Operate in the Spirit Realm

In episode 28 of the "No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe" podcast, host Greg Ryan opens with a sponsor message for 1211 Apparel, then candidly admits past scriptural citation errors to illustrate his human imperfection. He outlines a theological framework that humans consist of spirit, soul, and body, using a political analogy to explain the constant conflict between spirit and flesh over the soul (mind, will, emotions). Drawing on numerous biblical passages (John 6:63, John 1:14, Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24, Romans 10:9‑10, Colossians 2:6, Mark 11:22‑24, Genesis 1), Ryan argues that the Word of God is spirit and life, and that faith is "voice‑activated"—speaking God’s promises aloud brings healing and salvation. He shares a personal anecdote of a toothache he believes was healed through faith in the “by whose stripes you are healed” promise. The episode emphasizes speaking faith, anchoring on Scripture, and living out love, hope, and faith, concluding with a call to subscribe.

There were a couple episodes where I used my superior copying and pasting skills, and I copied and pasted, um, Rev— I think it was Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. And then I copied and pasted Romans, and I meant to do Romans 5:8, but for whatever reason it became Romans 5:28. And we all know, if you read your Bible, that there's no such animal as Romans 5:28. So I want to go on record to show that I am not perfect. At least me and my wife know that I'm not perfect. But that's enough said. I wanted to prove I'm not perfect. I'm not Jesus. I don't I make a horrible Holy Spirit, like I've said multiple times, but I am doing my best and I'm moving forward. Well, without further ado, I want to get this thing started.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 28. If this is your first time to join us, I made a commitment 28 days ago that I would do a podcast episode every day for the first 30 days, and I am almost home free. If you're a frequent flyer, I want to thank you for being a part of this. And I am currently working without a net. I am on the high wire. I have absolutely no idea if my microphone is working, so I'm just going to talk in this thing in this empty room, and I'm hoping it's recording. It's got the little line saying that it's recording, but I can't hear a thing. So here we go, episode 28. In episode— I want to say it was like 24, 25 I, I began the, the podcast talking about how I screwed up. And you know, it's kind of ironic, or maybe not, that we were talking about sin and missing the mark. And perfection, I've said multiple times, is not the goal in the Christian walk. I used to think that I was trying to be like Jesus and perfect, but if I have to take a picture representation, I am nowhere near the sun. I am like that like maybe a moon at the best if you're looking at a celestial planet or something. I have absolutely no light. The best I can do is reflect the light that Jesus gives or puts on me. So it's not my— I have nothing to glory in. I have— I mean, I'd screw up a rock fight. I'm not much. I'm not a whole lot to write home about. But, you know, I'm doing the best I can. And after 57 years, 29 of them without God and 28 now with God, I like the direction I'm heading anyway. Well, enough of that. I've been talking about the spirit realm, and I've been talking about sin, and I've talked about the gospel message. We've been talking about a lot on the last few episodes, but I, I want to reiterate that we are spirit, soul, and body. And I, I see this as a three-part majority to where if you can get the two sides, if you can think of it like we're voting, there's been a lot of politics lately. We were in election year, and, and there's a lot of turmoil. And that's another reason why I wanted to come on the podcast, is all the fear and all the angst and all the disunity or division or whatever the word is, all the hate that's just been stirred up. I mean, I just want to kind of be— let the word of God and let the Holy Spirit be more of a calming influence in your life. And that's why I just wanted to bring the word. But I've been talking about spirit, soul, and body. And the reason I bring up politics is because it— I see it as like a three— we're three parts, we're one person, but it's a two-part majority now. And what the body and the spirit man— it says that the body, that is the flesh, is enmity or is against the spirit. So the spirit and the body are never going to agree. They're never going to be on the same page. So we can just put that aside. So we got one side, let's call it the spirit side, and then we got the, the body side. And those two, if you hold your left and right hand up, I don't care which one you put it on, one of them's on the left, one of them's on the right, and the thing that they're fighting over is your soul. And that is your mind, will, and emotion. So your soul, you got your body and you got your spirit man trying to convince your soul to go to their side of the aisle. So, and that's just to keep this political analogy, I guess is a better word, going. So when we talk about the spirit realm or the physical realm, and how do you, you know, if you're trying to sway your soul, your mind, will, and emotion to come to one side or the other, now how do you do that? What's your practical application of all this mess you've been talking about? Maybe you're driving or working out going, now what do I do with all this? I think that's a great question, and I think Jesus answered it, and I touched on it briefly in the last episode, but it was in John. It's in John 6:63. It is the Spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. So I'm going to take this, what Jesus' words, because it is in red. And when he says that he— the words that he speak are spirit and they are life, Every word that Jesus speaks is a word of God. I mean, I— again, I got to go back to John 1:1 where it says the Word was with God and the Word was God and the Word became flesh. And I know that's not John 1:1, that's 1:14, but the, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. So the Word is God. And we just read in John 6:63 that Jesus said the words that he speaks are spirit and they are life. And in John 14:6, I believe, is where he declares himself the way, the truth, and the life. So Jesus is the life. Jesus is the word. The words that he speaks are spirit and they're life. You put all of that together, and in a 10-minute or 15-minute podcast, I can't bring it all together, but I want you to think When you see the Spirit, when you see the Word of God, I want you to think that this is, this is what the Spirit— this is what feeds your spirit. And if you can find it in the Word and then you anchor on what you find in the Word— and I'm going to bring it back to my toothache. And the reason I believe that I was able to come against that, that pain and that toothache is because in Isaiah 53 5, it said, but he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed. And then I think I said yesterday that it was in 2 Peter, but it's actually 1 Peter 2:24. So in my defense, there was a lot of 2s in there, so I got the 2 Peter and the 2:24. It's 1 Peter 2:24, who him— who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree. That we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness, by whose stripes you were healed. So there's a lot in that scripture. I love the 1 Peter 2:24 because when I say that, that Jesus died a perfect death and he took all our sin and they nailed it to the cross, I mean, if you can picture Jesus taking on his own body the sins, that, that's kind of represented in this. But I want to go to by whose stripes you were healed. So that by whose stripes you were healed, that's, that's past tense. If you, if you're reading that, and you know, English is not my first language, but that's past tense, means it's already happened. And then you go to Isaiah, and he says in Isaiah, the, at the very end, and it says, by his stripes we are healed. And are healed is— I think that's future. Again, we're talking English now, and it kind of gets outside my comfort zone. But I— if you can, if you can imagine Isaiah, I think it was 400 or 800 years before Jesus died on the cross, Isaiah was prophesying how all this stuff was going to happen. So again, to try to get inside of my mind and how I see things, I'm looking at Isaiah who's looking into the future and he's watching this happen to Jesus, and he's prophesying, or he's giving, he's giving his testimony, or his, what the word of the God gave him. And he's saying, you know, he was bruised. He saw the beating that Jesus took, and he was trying to put it into words and why it was happening. But he says, and by his stripes you are healed. Well, Peter is looking at the same, same event. Peter saw it And he's saying— he's looking back and saying it and says the exact same beating and the, the stripes that Jesus took, but he says, by whose stripes you were healed. So you're looking at the same event. One's looking from the before it happened and one's looking back after it happened. But that's the stripes, and that's where I grab— that's where I take faith and where I grab these promises in the word of God because it says in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Now I promise you, I'm going— trying to make a point, and then we're going to go to Colossians, and it is found Colossians 2 And it's 2:6. As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him. And how did we receive him? We just read that, how we received him in Romans 10:9-10, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Christ from the dead, you shall be saved. The exact same way that you receive salvation is the exact same way you receive your healing. It's all the grace of God. You mix it with grace and faith, and you mix it all together, and it's voice activated. Your, your faith is voice activated. And that's really what I want to teach you on this podcast, is you've got to speak to your problem. And it, and it's one of our anchor scriptures. You go all the way back to episode 1 where Mark— it's Mark 11:22-24. 3, I believe, where it— where Jesus had cursed the fig tree and said, have faith in God. For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be removed and cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. And I want to go back to Genesis 1, way back at the beginning of the book. And it says, where it says, in the beginning, and I've alluded to it a few times, but I want, I want to show you in, in specific verse and chapter and verse. It's, it's all in Genesis 1, where it said in Genesis 1:1, in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And then it goes on to in verse 3, Genesis 1:3, then God said, let there be light, and there was light. And then in verse 4, and it said, "And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness." Then in 1:6, "Then God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." And then in verse 10, "And God called the dry land Earth: and gathered together of the waters he called Seas: and God saw that it was good." And I'm not gonna keep reading that, But God said it, and then he saw it. I want, I want you to see that that's how things are created. And so that's how things get done here, is we take our— the word of God and we apply faith. We believe it, then we speak the faith that we have, that we've mustered up. And we're going to talk a whole lot more about faith, hope, and love, because that is what this whole— all of this is going to be anchored on. Because if you go back to Gen— or 1 Corinthians 1:13. 1 Corinthians 1:13 is what I call the love chapter, but at the end of it, it says, "Now abide faith, hope, love, these three, but the greatest of these is love." This is going a lot longer than I thought, and I feel myself about to start teaching a different lesson, so I'm going to stop this here. I want to thank you for being a part of this episode. I want to thank you for being a part of my life. If you haven't hit the subscribe button, please do. I'm looking for subscribers.
