How to throw fear out of your life using the Bible in 2022

In episode 236 of the "No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe" podcast, host Greg Ryan opens the new year with a devotional aimed at helping listeners eliminate fear in 2022 by grounding themselves in Scripture. He begins by citing 2 Timothy 1:7, explaining that fear is not a God‑given spirit, and distinguishes natural, temporary fear from the pervasive, satanic fear amplified by the pandemic. Ryan emphasizes that faith comes from hearing God’s Word (Romans 10:17) and that believers must actively seek God (Hebrews 11:6). He introduces the concept of "faith is voice‑activated," likening speaking faith to using voice‑activated assistants like Alexa or Siri: one must speak aloud and believe the request. He then unpacks Mark 11:23‑24, urging listeners to speak to their "mountains" with confidence, and ties this to the earlier analogy. Ryan reads Psalm 91, portraying the secret place of the Most High as a refuge and reinforcing the need to verbalize trust in God. He interweaves cultural commentary, critiquing mask‑wearing during the COVID‑19 pandemic as a superficial band‑aid that fuels fear, while acknowledging proper mask usage. Finally, he announces an upcoming class on "planting the word" focused on 2 Timothy 1:7, offers a prayer asking listeners to internalize the lesson and cast out fear, and closes with a hopeful invitation to the next episode.
Chapters
Welcome to episode 236.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 236. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, I want to wish you a happy new year if you are listening to this on time, and if not, happy new year anyway if it's February or March when you hear this. I wanted to begin the new year with some lessons on how to be fearless in 2022, and in order to do that, we are going to go to the word of God. Imagine that. And we're going to start in 2 Timothy 1:7. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. God does not give fear. Now fear comes naturally when we're born. We're born with just a few fears. Like babies, they've got the fear of being dropped, right? Where you watch their hands go out. And there's a couple other fears, but mostly the fear that you walk around with is temporary, like the fight or flight fear. Most of that fear just comes natural. When you come on danger, you know that you're either gonna fight or flight. But the stuff that just, the nagging fear, that is that over-the-top, all-the-time fear. Like what's going on with the pandemic and all of this chaos that's in the world, that I believe is satanic.
Fear.
That is a spirit of fear. And that's what Paul's talking about, that the spirit of fear— God has not given you and I the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. So we're going to talk about that in the next episodes, but I want to kind of want to set the stage. We've got to get into the word of God. Again, this is soapbox moment number one for 2022. We've got to be in the word of God and we got to get the word of God in us. We've got to hear it. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. That's Romans 10:17. We have got to get that inside of us. And then we go to Hebrews 11:6, but without faith it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all of these things will be added unto you. God wants you to seek. It says, "Seek and you shall find. Knock and it will be opened to you. Ask and you shall receive." Those are the things that God— God wants you searching after him. He don't want you going through life. He wants you on purpose looking for and to him. And I wanna talk about being, faith being voice activated. We've talked about this before, but I just want you to picture if you have in your house, Some of those, like the Alexa with Amazon, or is it Siri with the iPhone? And I guess Google, if you've got an Android. It is voice activated. You say some certain commands and it kicks it on, and then you start asking the question. Like on, I think on, you say, hey Siri, or you say, hey Alexa. Then, once you know it's quote listening, is then you ask the question and then whoever you're talking to then gives you the response or gives you the answer or the best answer that they can find. And I want you to kind of picture your faith. I want you to understand that God is never sleeping. God knows every, he knows every hair on your head. It's easier to keep count on my head recently. I've got some hair falling out, but thank God it ain't all fell out. Most of it's turning gray, but it's at least holding on a little better than some people my age, but that's a whole nother topic. We need to speak our faith out of our mouth. Faith is voice activated. And I want you to think of those earthly tools that we have at our disposal. And I know a lot of people have the Amazon little cube or the iPhone or the iPad or whatever it is that they've got that has Siri on there. Obviously, I don't have one. If you're listening to this podcast and you do have one, you know how they work, and you know that you have to speak. You can't just think it, and you can't just ponder it. You've got to say out loud what you're wondering or what you want Siri or Alexa to do. You have to then— you got to activate it, and then you have to speak it out. I want you to picture that in the spirit realm. You have got to speak it. And you have got to not only speak it, but you have to believe whatever it is that you say you shall have. And we're going to go to one of our anchor scriptures, and it is in Mark 11:23-24. For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Now, with the example that I talked about with Alexa or with Siri or with Google, when you ask them a question, you're not doubting. You're just asking to see if you can get an answer. Or if you're listening to music on Alexa or whatever, you want them to turn it down or change songs or whatever. I've I've heard people use those things. I don't really know how to operate it, but in faith, it's very similar, except if you just read Mark 11:23 again, Jesus is teaching. This is— these are all in red. These words are all in red, so this is God speaking. And in the previous verse, it says, have— Jesus answered and said to them, have faith in God. They were questioning how Jesus could kill the fig tree with just words. Jesus spoke it and it just died from the roots up. This fig tree, he didn't touch it, he didn't grab it, he didn't chop it down with a chainsaw, he didn't do anything to— he didn't have a chainsaw, but he didn't put an axe to it. But he didn't do anything but talk to it. And God's wanting you to see this, and the word of God is— it's all through the word of God. Where God is telling us to talk to our issues, talk to our mountains, talk to our problems, and we are gonna see how to be fearless. And that, since that's my word of 2022, I thought we needed to get involved with kicking fear out of our lives. And as I'm doing it in my life, I wanna help you do it in your life. So that is the journey that we're gonna take in the first part of 2022. We are gonna kick fear out because God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. So we have got power and a sound mind and love coming from the Holy Spirit, and we got fear from the punk. If you really wanna pick a side, I don't know why you wouldn't pick power, love, and a sound mind. I don't know why you'd pick fear. And I think anyone listening to this podcast is gonna pick power, love, and a sound mind. There are ways that we have to operate in the spirit realm. And so that is what we want to talk about in these next episodes. I just want to kick this year off with just you thinking and kind of pondering. I want to go to Psalm 91 to finish, and this whole psalm is about safety and abiding in the presence of God. But there's safety in that, and we're going to read the first couple of scripture, first couple of verses in this. He who abides in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in him I will trust. Now I just want you to read those for yourself. Look how the writer segues, is talking in general. He who abides in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Then he's just saying he who dwells in the secret place He's just telling, if you're dwelling, he who dwells in the secret place shall abide. He's kind of setting the picture or painting the picture of what's happening. And then he tells you how to activate that. I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in him I will trust. Notice that he says, I will say. You have got to speak it out. Faith is voice activated. I'm going to continue to say that. You have got to speak to the mountain. Go back to Mark 11:23 and 24. If you say unto the mountain, be thou removed and cast in the sea, and do not doubt in your heart, but believe that those things you say you shall have, you shall have whatever it is you say. And I probably just chopped that all up. You're going to say it and you're going to not doubt it. And you have got to say that. And you've got to seek and keep seeking. We're going to dig all in the middle of this Bible, but we are going to get fear out of our lives in 2022. Satan has had a field day and he's last couple of years with the world and putting masks on people. And I'm not against masks, I just don't think they help. I just think it's kind of a Band-Aid on a big old cut. It just has really no purpose other than everybody can see that you're wearing a mask. If you don't have a proper mask on, you know, there's people that wear cloth masks and there's people that wear other masks. And I've got the same mask I've had for a year and a half, and you can't tell me that that's doing me any good. But when I'm putting air quotes up to make people feel better, I'll put that on when everybody gets all nervous and anxious. It's just a piece of paper over my face. It is not blocking anything. You've got to have that N95, and then you got to wear it properly, and then you can't touch it, and it's got to be sealed up. I mean, there are proper ways. If what you're really trying to do is mask up, you need to mask up. Most people aren't doing it. They're just jumping through the motions. They're just appeasing whoever's in power. And making all these rules. I think if you'll just continue, we got to learn to not walk in fear. We have got to learn to walk by faith and not by fear. And we're going to start, we're going to jump all in the middle of this. I think I'm going to start a class and it's going to be on how to plant the word of God. We're going to learn to plant 2 Timothy 1:7. I think that's going to be the first seed that we're going to put in this class. And I'm thinking I'm going to start somewhere in January 20th or whatever, whenever there's a Monday in there. I think I'm going to start in the early 20s in January. Kind of give me a couple weeks to get all this put together. Let's stop right now. God, I want to thank you for everything you're— you've done in my life. I want to thank you for the things that you're doing in this listener's life, and I want to pray in Jesus' name that the person listening to this podcast episode will get into your word, Lord, and the word will get into them and they will throw fear out of their life and they'll throw them out of their house. And I pray in Jesus' name that they will take hold of this lesson and take hold of your Bible. And let's get after this and let's throw Satan out of our lives for good. Lord, we thank you, we love you, we ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, happy new year, and I look forward to visiting with you in the next episode.
