How you can destroy fear by taking action

Welcome to episode 243. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, I am continuing, and I think I'm going to finish up on fear today. I think probably everyone's going, finally, maybe we can quit being so fearful. But the whole idea is to remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind. And we started with 2 Timothy 1:7. And I want to end this podcast on how to destroy the fear. And we've talked about this on multiple episodes, but there's a few things that you really gotta have to just put a fist in fear's face. You just got to shove your fist in fear by taking action. No one can do anything sitting and thinking and wishing about getting something done. You just can't get something done wishing and talking about it. And I am the king, if you can imagine me owning a podcast, and when I had 3 different things to pick from, I took talking. I'm good at that, so I thought. Anyway, this whole idea of just becoming a podcast guy was never even on the radar a couple years ago. I listened to a few podcasts, but I didn't know it was a thing that I could actually do. And until you jump into something that you've been thinking about or God puts on your heart, you're always going to have that hesitation or that fear. And then you've got that voice inside of your head that starts talking to you and it's negative. And I remember, I don't know what episode it was, but I recommended that book about soundtracks. And I think it's John Acuff or something like that, but he wrote a book on Changing those negative thoughts in your head to positive. And all of this stuff requires action. And another book that is really good book, if you're a reader and have never read Atomic Habits, that's a great book. I think the guy's name is James Clear with Atomic Habits. So I'm throwing out a bunch of books, but the number one book— and here comes the soapbox moment— is the Bible. You can try your best to figure this thing out with worldly wisdom, but the way to destroy fear is punching it in the face with action, but with the word of God. And just getting into the word of God and letting the word of God get into you. And that's where my big announcement, and I'm putting my air quotes up, I am starting. Now it is absolutely no part of this thing is done. And I just got to be completely honest and transparent that I have got an alligator mouth and a hummingbird backside. I've got all these dreams and I've got all these ideas, but when it starts getting rubber to the road stuff, I either get distracted, I've got life coming on, I make excuses. My dream is to have the 10%, and I talked about a couple episodes ago, where 10% of the people love you, 20% of the people hate you, and 70% of the people don't care. And I see this analogy played out in the Bible, and it's in, I think it's in Matthew 7, and I'm gonna go to that real quick. And it's Matthew 7:13. It's a familiar verse that we've talked about multiple times, but it says, enter by the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way, which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Remember we talked about the narrow gate and the wide gate, many and few, narrow and wide. And I've talked about this multiple times. I've never written one word in the Bible, so this is not me, this is not what I've written, but I'm trying to apply the word to my life and to my world and what I want to do and what I want to get excited about and what I wanted for the rest of this year. What I want to do is I want to create this membership site that takes the many and weeds it down to the few, and the 10% that love Jesus, the fanatics, if you will. And I'm going to reach out with ads, I'm going to do the marketing, I'm going to do the promotion, and I'm going to find those 10% of the people. And I'm going to need your help. "Hey, look, I just conquered this thing, and I just want to encourage you that if you just keep going." You get the idea. I want it to be a positive place for Christians getting after the Word of God and want to lock arms with one another can hang out. One of my sons came over to the house this weekend and was telling me how God had been moving him back into the Word of God, and I'm telling you, brought a tear to my eye. I mean, it was exciting. I mean, he hasn't really listened to the podcast. He said he started listening, but he started at the beginning, so he'll probably never hear this episode. I just wanted to put something out there, you know, if my family came across this, that they would say, "Man, that is awesome." You are family. You're a child of the King. You and I are brothers or sisters in Christ. I'm your brother regardless of you're my brother or my sister. We are gonna get after this together, and Jesus sent his people out two by two. We're not supposed to be by ourselves. We're not supposed to be the Lone Ranger, and I kind of feel like the Lone Ranger here in this room all by myself, and I'm gonna stop that. Right now.
