Introduction to the 30-day Bible challenge to destroy fear in your life

Greg Ryan walks through a 30-day Bible study on the Parable of the Sower, using Mark 4:13-20 as the foundation for understanding all of Jesus' parables. Each day focuses on removing spiritual obstacles—rocks, weeds, thorns—so God's Word can take root. The core work: humility, repentance, and faith applied daily.

Welcome to episode 244, In the Beginning Was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg. Welcome to episode 244. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, I am going to do something a little bit different. I've recorded a video for my new episode, the new course that I'm doing. It is an introduction video, and I really just wanted the audio and I wanted a transcript. And so instead of trying to redo and record a brand new podcast episode, I thought it would be such a wonderful treat for you to have the audio of the video of the one I recorded for the class that I've talked about. And this is the introduction class, and I know that you're so excited about doing that, and I've had some serious issues, if you can imagine, with my website. It crashed 2 or 3 times while I'm trying to do this. No good deed is going to go unpunished. You know that, right? So I am doing that. I'm probably going to move it to a different teaching course because I can't get my website to work, but I will make the adjustments on the back end and I will plow through this because the word of the year is fearless and the word from last year is relentless and I refuse to give up. So there you have it, and I am going to put in this audio. It's going to talk about the video, but You'll pick up what I'm laying down. Hey, Greg Ryan here, and I wanna do this quick video. This is gonna be on the sower, the parable of the sower of seed. And the seed, of course, is the word of God, and we're gonna dig into all that. But I've got a handy-dandy PowerPoint video, and I wanna put all this together, and I got my mug sitting here, but I really want you to get into this. I want you to pray about, ask the Holy Spirit, what is it that you want me to understand about this specific topic? Jesus said, if you don't understand this one, How are you going to understand any of the parables? So that tells me, without having huge discernment skills, that we need to understand this parable first. If we understand this one, then we got a shot of understanding the other ones. But if we don't understand this one, how are we going to understand any of them? Again, I've told you multiple times, I never wrote one word in the Bible, not one the, not one and, not one a. Not a word of it is mine. I have got nothing to do with writing of the Bible. What God has called me to do is get into the Bible every day and help the Bible, the Word of God, get into me and then encourage you to do the same. And that's the only reason I'm here. This specific lesson is for Christians only. This will not help you at all if you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, because the Bible is clear: The just shall live by faith. You have to appropriate this to your spirit man, to your— your spirit man's probably already got it, but to your soul, your mind, will, and emotion by faith. The just shall live by faith. So if you've listened to anything on my podcast, and there I am, my mug with pointing up there, Satan is a punk, love that shirt. But No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe is the podcast. It's where I go in there and we dig in the word of God, 10 or 15 minutes on one topic. It covers clearly how I believe the just, how I am justified, not by anything I did, but by what Jesus did, and I appropriated everything that Jesus did. I am appropriating everything Jesus did for me at Calvary and before, and as he walked on this earth, I'm by faith reaching out and grabbing that. And that's what faith is. Grace and faith. It's a combination, it's a combo package, it's a one-two punch, if you will. God's grace is what he poured out when he died. He— the grace of God is an unmerited, unworthy gift. I am not worthy to accept it. You're not worthy to get it. But God gives us by faith, he gives us the ability to accept everything that grace did for us by faith. You got to have faith to reach over there in that spirit realm and appropriate it to you here in this realm. That's a whole nother topic. That's a different rabbit. I'm not going to chase after that rabbit right now. Now, my goal is to help you get more out of your life using the Word of God. Now, it starts with knowing that Jesus is the Word and the Truth. Jesus said that you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. The only freedom that you truly get is by knowing the Word of God. And understanding the parable of the sower is the first step. And I, I hate that I'm reading all this to you, It's in Mark 4:13. Now, I put this picture up here because I believe that most people believe that this is what their spiritual field looks like. All of their life, no one's gonna take a snapshot picture and make it look like that, where you got weeds, you got rocks and hard path, and that your heart, where you're planting this seed, it's probably, most of us, if we would be honest, Most of us have probably got a garden that looks something like this. You've got hard paths, you've got weeds, you probably got some rocks in there. And we're, we're thinking it's going to look like this. Now, this is the kind of ground— this is, this is a field, and this is where you sow the good seed. You've got to take some steps. The farmer that sowed this field and allowed me to use this picture This field was plowed, it was prepared, they dug all the stones out. We're going to read about— it's not about having more of something, it's about having less of some things. And that's what we're going to talk about in this parable. And I'm going to read this to you because I have superior reading skills. It says, listen, behold, there went out a sower to sow. And it came to pass, as he sowed, Some fell by the wayside, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth, and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up, it was scorched, and because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit, that sprang up, and increased, and brought forth some 30, and some 60, and some 100. And he said to them, He that has ears to hear, let him hear. I want you to hear that. Since I'm on a podcast, I want to just emphasize this because when I hear things now, because I listen to podcasts, I do a podcast, notice Jesus said, listen. He ends it with, he who has ears to hear, let him hear. And I just want you to hear what the Spirit is saying to you because you've got stony ground. You have got rocks probably in your soul, things that need to be dug out. The cares of this world is what Jesus calls them. We need to get the cares out of your heart. It says to— if you love the world, you're in enmity, you're at odds with God. We got to get away from the love of the world. Now that don't mean we gotta hate the world and we gotta do stupid stuff around in this world. No, that just means that we love the thought we're not of this world. So the kingdom that we're kings of is a different world. It is a spiritual world, and we are still in this world. If you're listening to this video, you're in this world because your time is not up. Now God is telling you and me to pay attention to this parable. Jesus explains to his disciples why he speaks in parables. You'll find that in Mark 4:11-12. He then asks them a couple of important questions. He says, "You do not understand this parable? How will you understand all of the parables?" I believe this is God telling you and me that understanding this parable— and I started with this— is the beginning of all understanding of the parables. And Jesus spoke in parables That's how he communicated. He kind of— he didn't want to keep it hidden, but he wanted to make sure that you dug in. The Bible is clear. It says, ask and keep asking, seek and keep seeking, knock and keep knocking. These are the things God wants you to get involved and get into his word. And that's why I'm here. And the kingdom of God is not about having a bunch of stuff and a bunch of things right. It's about clearing it out. It's about humbling yourself. And I think that's how you just crack— if you've got a hard surface on your heart, you need to humble yourself before God and just apologize and say, God, I am so sorry for, with, you know, this decision, or the way I've lived my life, or the things that I've done. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Remember, we're— it's God's grace. That's, that's all of those promises and all of the things in the spirit realm that God has given you and I. That's the grace of God, and we appropriate those promises by faith. And remember, the just shall live by faith. So there's a lot of moving parts here, but I just want you to understand that you've got to humble yourself. You have got to bow the knee. You've got to repent. And repentance, it's a fancy-pants word, but it means to change your mind. I mean, it's just a simple— look, you just need to change your mind on this thing. If you've been thinking that you're all that Just change your mind on it. Just think, maybe I'm not all that. Maybe God is all-powerful. Maybe God is all-knowing. And maybe God is omnipresent. Maybe he's everywhere. Just change your mind. Just remember that God is that good. And I don't want this to go on a long time. I want to set the stage. What we need to do if we're going to plant this seed, this incorruptible seed in our heart, we've got to humble ourselves before God. And I want to encourage you after you watch this video, just turn it off. You don't have to go to the next one, but I want you to just humble yourself and just apologize to God for just being a little bit maybe prideful or proud or maybe not seeking him as much. God's okay with you admitting that. He knows it already. God, remember, he knows everything. So God knows where you're at. Just tell him, look, I'm sorry. That's all you got to do. Say, "I'm sorry," and then start digging some of the stuff out. Get it a little— dig it down a little more instead of having just a shallow earth so that that root don't go too deep. Dig it down a little more. Maybe spend a little more time with God, and then pull out some of these cares of the world, those rocks. Get your field ready for the next 30 days. That's all I'm encouraging you to do is just get all this garbage out so that when we put this incorruptible seed, this Word of God, into your soul, into your mind, will, and emotions. I believe it's already in your spirit man. I believe your spirit man is 100% just like Jesus. So your spirit man doesn't need the Word of God. Your spirit man is— that's what is in contact with Jesus. You got the mind of Christ. I'm not here to explain all of that, not sure I can, but you have all of that already. It's your soul, your mind, will, and emotion that needs to come under the guidance of the word of God. Your physical man, your flesh, this tent that Paul and Peter sometimes refer to, your, your vehicle that you're going through this life in, this physical being, this person that I am, the, the flesh and bones that I am, it's not going to get to heaven. The flesh and bones are not, but my soul, my mind, will, and emotion, and my spirit man, they're going to make it. So what I want to do in this quick little video— and I know it's— we're working on more than 10 minutes. I really want this to be quick, but I want you to kind of get my heart. I want you to understand that we got to humble ourselves. We've got to get ourselves in a position to where we can receive the Word of God. We can plant this Word, this incorruptible seed, in our heart, and then it will take root. And when we use what we're going to do for the next 30 days after we humble ourselves, and once you get your heart right, then we're going to plant this seed, and the word of God will not come back void. And faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Your faith is going to build up. And this one course, I think this one course can change how you read the Bible and what you do with the Bible. And not to get in a big hurry, because we don't need to go— this is not like trying to get to the next book and the next book. This is about applying what you hear, to be a doer of the word and not a hearer only. I want you to do with this word, and I just want to thank you for being a part of this. I'm excited to be here with you, and I'm excited about what God's going to do in this course. Thanks again. Well, that was the audio to the video, and I know that's probably a little bit confusing. I want to thank you for being a part of my life, and I want to pray real quick. God, I thank you so much for this listener, and I thank you that they are digging in to your word. God, I thank you for everything they're doing in their lives, and I bind up anything— if the enemy is trying to come against this listener, I bind the enemy up right now in Jesus' name, and I cast him out of this person's life. Lord, we thank you, we love you, we ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you in the next episode.
