Jesus was Gods free gift to the world He died one time for all sin

Greg walks through Scripture to explain why Jesus's death was a single, complete sacrifice for all sin, past and present. He connects Old Testament sacrifices to Christ's offering, emphasizing that believers are secure in their salvation and need not be reborn. The episode urges regular Bible reading, prayer, and repentance.
Welcome to episode 201.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 201. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, I am moving into another era in this podcasting journey that we, you and I, are on. And right now I am going to tape, or I am going to upload episodes on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. And I'm going to follow the same protocol that I was doing. I was going to, I'm going to do a Tuesday, Thursday episode with teaching, and then my Saturday episode is going to be biblical worldview and how I see— and I may change, I may tweak a little bit. I've been threatening to interview some people, some other Christians, and just kind of see what, you know, what their take is, talk to some other people, maybe get some different perspectives for you out there. And because I know you've just continued to listen to me and you love my superior reading skills and my communication techniques, I am above reproach on any of that. I understand, but it's nice to hear maybe some more professional people than this, some just yahoo in Louisiana telling you what God is telling him and showing you how you can still be messed up and follow holy God the Father and Jesus his Son and the Holy Spirit. You don't have to be perfect. In fact, perfection is nowhere near what we're looking for. We are looking for reflection or correction at the most part. When we mess up, we just correct. We correct course, but we keep our eyes on the mark, which is Jesus Christ. If we continue to walk toward the mark in our life, which is Jesus, then we may get a little off. We may get a little off target, and we may, you know, take a side street here and there,. But overall, if we continue to go toward Jesus and toward God, if you've ever heard anybody speak from NASA talking about the moonshot or when they shot the people to the moon, it's just a series, multiple thousand corrections as it's going. It was not a straight line. There's always corrections. And that is, that's life. You know, we are not called, no one, God does not expect us to be perfect. One of the scriptures we use over and over is Romans 3:23, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and Jesus died on the cross and took all sin. And I know I've talked about that multiple times, but I want to go back into and get the specific scriptures. Hebrews 9:27, and it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for him, he will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. And we talked about the types and shadows before, and it says in 10:1, for the law, having a shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the things, can never, with the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. Now I'm skipping down to 4. Hebrews 10:4. For if it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away the sins, therefore when he came into the world, he said, sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you have prepared for me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you had no pleasure. Then I said, behold, I have come In the volume of the book it is written of me, to do your will, O God. And when I tell you that Jesus is the Word and the Word became flesh, you just need to read Hebrews 10:5. Now I know I've every episode I talk about John 1:1 and John 1:14, but this is Jesus' words. This was in, I think this was in Psalm, I think this is like Psalms 40 or it's in the 40s, I think. Where this is a prophetic— and let's, let's just go to it. Let me, instead of just giving you possible maybes— and it is a direct quote from Psalms, and it was 40. Psalm 46: Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, my ears you have opened. Burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, behold, I come. In the scroll of the book it is written of me, I delight to do your will, O my God, and your law is within my heart. And I honestly don't know how you can read the Bible and look at how God just pulled all these different threads together and made this beautiful tapestry that's called the Bible. I mean, it is incredible. We have multiple writers, but there was one author. And the author— I've never said this, but you've got to know that the Holy Spirit was the author of the Bible, and he knitted together all of these different pictures, all of these different symbolisms, all of this different verbiage. And, and just like a good writer— and I heard somebody say recently that if you could read the Bible like you would read a fiction novel— and he did not imply that the Bible was fiction. If you've ever read, like, when I talk about This Present Darkness, Frank Peretti wrote This Present Darkness And he kind of— when I told you before that it kind of fleshed up prayer for me to when I could, when I— because I just thought it was, you know, it was just too big. Why does God, as infinite and massive as God is, why does he need me to pray? And obviously the simple answer is he does not need me to pray, but he allows me to have a communication with him because he loves me and he likes to hear from me. He likes to have me say, hey, Good morning, God. Good morning, Father. And he enjoys the communication. Now, I didn't see that because I didn't realize that God was just everywhere all the time and that he just enjoyed being around his kid. We are not a burden to Father God. God loves being around us. God loves hearing from us. He really especially likes when we thank him for all the wonderful things that he's given us. He's not against us worshiping him. He's not against us giving him glory and honor and praising his name. None of that upsets God. But I do believe that God rejoices with us as we rejoice in him. But my point is, if you read the Bible, or this person's, this teacher's point was that if you read the Bible as a fiction novel, your mind gives it a different pace. In a different space in your mind, you picture things differently. And his point was that if we would picture this as a fictional novel and then we would assign characters and we'd assign symbolism and all of that, that it would be a much deeper and more personal read. And I don't disagree with that, as long as you understand there's not a more true or more truthful book in the world than the Bible. I'm not telling you to read it because I think it's fiction. I'm telling you to read it as you would a fictional novel and give it the place in your mind where you can create characters and kind of picture them for yourselves and put yourself in those situations. That's what I'm saying. And I want to go back to Hebrews 10, and it go— and then I want to skip down to 9. Then he said, behold, I have come to do your will, O God. He takes away the first that he may establish the second. By that we will have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Now, God did not make Jesus die multiple times, and you don't have to get born again again. Once you're born again, once you're in the body of Christ, once you become a resident in heaven— and I call it on Heaven's Island— you don't get off of Heaven's Island. You stay on Heaven's Island. You are now a citizen of heaven. You are seated in heavenly places. Again, I don't really understand all of that. I know our spirit man probably can go back and forth. I, I really honestly have not— I have not experienced that. I still kind of feel stuck here on earth with my body, but I know my mind, will, and emotion, my soul and my spirit, when my body is no longer here to be absent with the body is to be present with the Lord. I will be in his presence, that will be my soul and my spirit, and we will wait on a new body. And that's kind of how I've got it all pictured in my head, is that I'm either going to get a new body at rapture, and I'll be changed in the blink or in the twinkling of an eye, in the split second. I will go from this mortal body to immortality Or I will die and be put in the ground and wait for Jesus' return, and then at the trumpet blast I will be changed. It says the dead in Christ shall rise first, and then we that remain shall meet him in the air. So either way, once you accept Jesus, it's for eternity. He died once for all sin, past, present, and future sin. And I want to give a couple of more scriptures because I don't think that I've just hammered this home like I should. And I want you to just own this. I want you to know that you're not bound by the law anymore, and you're not bound by sin. We are to be— we're to not have a sin conscience anymore. We are not to think about or worry with sin because Jesus paid all sin. Now, that doesn't mean we go out and sin, or that doesn't give us a license to sin. Because when we sin, when we open the door to Satan, and like I've told before, it's an open door. We open the door when we sin. That opens the door to Satan in our life, and we don't want him in our life, period. So that is where repentance comes in, and I'm not going to reteach that lesson, but it is a big deal that we don't sin. But if we do, there is an answer for that, and the name— the answer is Jesus. And then we're going to continue in Hebrews 10 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting, till his enemies are made his footstool. 10:13 For by one offering he has perfected forever those who have been sanctified. 10:14 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them. Then he adds, their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin. And I just want you to read the entire chapter 10 of Hebrews. In fact, if you just got a little extra time and you want a great book in the Bible. Hebrews is a wonderful book to just dial into and get into and read because it is so rich and is so comforting that it's forever, that our salvation is forever, and Jesus died one time for all sin. And, you know, and if just common sense, if you're just thinking about it, Jesus died over 2,000 years ago If he didn't die one time for your sin, and when I accepted Jesus back in 1993, January 10th, 1993, I had gotten pretty good at sin, and I told you that early on in this podcast when it started. Or you are listening to an imperfect man. Now, I am following after a perfect example, but I am by no means here to tell you that I've got this all figured out. But what I do know is that sin is no longer the issue. Sin has been dealt with. It was buried in the ground with Jesus. God put every sin, past, present, future, of the whole world on Jesus. He put that in the ground. Jesus was the Lamb of God that took away the sin of the world. And that is so awesome. That is such an awesome God that we serve., and I just want to encourage you just to dig in and just understand that God loves you. You are God's favorite. Remember I told you to read Psalm 139? I want to encourage you to get back into Psalm 139 and read that for a solid week. Just read it over and over and over again, every morning, every evening, and just see how much God loves you. God is not mad at you. God is awesome. Well, let's pray. God, I thank you so much for your Son. I thank you so much for dying one time, Jesus. Jesus for all sin. You don't have to continue to die over and over again. And God, I thank you that we don't have to get saved over and over again. We can be saved one time forever. And I thank you, Lord. I pray in Jesus' name that the person listening to this episode, if they have not accepted your free gift for salvation, I pray in Jesus' name that, that you would quicken in their spirit the need for a Savior and that they would freely and openly ask you to become Lord of their life. God, we thank you, we love you, we ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you in the next episode.
