Justification Stop one on the Mountain of God justified by faith part 5

Greg Ryan teaches that believers are justified by faith in their redeemed spirit, not their flesh, which cannot be saved. He grounds this in Romans 8, Hebrews 11, and Habakkuk 2, urging listeners to walk by faith and immerse themselves in Scripture. Ryan emphasizes a stark choice: slaves to righteousness or slaves to sin, with no middle ground.
Welcome to episode 174, In the Beginning Was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 174. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, we have continued to talk about justified by faith. I know I've gone over and chased a bunch of different rabbits and gone up and down, all around on this topic. The key that I want you to take away from all of this is that we can make mistakes and still be justified.
We're—
our spirit man is completely redeemed. Our body, not so much. We cannot do anything to redeem our body. There is absolutely nothing to do. We're gonna, we're gonna go to scripture right now. Let's go to Romans 8:1. There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin. He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. Now I've talked a long time about how the flesh is our enemy and there's no way that it can be redeemed. These, these scriptures right here pretty much back that up, and it's one of the scriptures that I go to When you try to think, well, isn't there something we could do to make the flesh behave? In Romans 8:7, because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. So if you are carnally minded, you cannot please God. If you are only walking by your five senses, you cannot please Father God. And remember what the writer in Hebrews says in 11:6, but without faith is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Now there you have two clear things. You cannot please God by being carnal. That is in Romans 8:8, so then those who are in the flesh cannot please God. And then Hebrews 11:6, but without faith it is impossible to please him. For he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. So you cannot please God by being carnally minded. Without faith, you cannot please God. So it just says that God is pleased when you are in faith, and the just shall live by faith. And remember what the just means— just as if I had not sinned. Justified. It says the just shall live by faith. Let's go by it. Let's go to this real quick. Hebrews 10:35. Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith, but if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are justified. You are— it is just as if you had never sinned. So the just shall live by faith. That's what Hebrews 38 is saying. And this scripture, it originated in Habakkuk, and that is in Habakkuk 2: I will stand by my watch and set myself on the rampart and watch to see what he will say to me and what I will answer when I am corrected. Then the Lord answered me and said, write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it, because it will surely come and it will not tarry. Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him, but the just shall live by his faith. That is where it is in the Old Testament. It is in Habakkuk 2— and I think that's 4. But Paul also mentions it in Romans 1:17, and I'll go back to 16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." And as I've told you in the past, Romans is a complicated book or a complex book, and you got to use other truths in the Bible to help you. As Paul is writing in Romans, he's talking about faith, and we've talked about faith. And if you don't know what faith is, I'm going to click the link. I, I've got a whole series of lessons that I taught on faith and hope and love and all of that, and I'll put that in the show notes. And I'm not going to rehash all of that but it is impossible to please God without faith. So it is important that you and I walk in faith. And what does that look like? Again, we have to— we have to use our spirit man, and we have to use our spiritual eyes. And the way we walk in faith is by reading the word of God. Jesus said, the words that I speak, they are spirit and they are life. The spirit is in the word of God, and the just shall live by faith. And you have got to get in the Word of God. I know, I know, soapbox moment number however many now. Get in the Word of God. We have got to be in the Word, and we have got to have the Word in us. And that's how we'll start walking this faith walk, and we'll start being in the Spirit more. When our walk and when our life lines up with the Word of God then it just gets easier. And that is never going to be easy. But when we hook into Jesus' yoke, remember, we are yoked either to righteousness or we're yoked to sin. Remember, you are going to be a slave either to sin by the flesh, or you're going to be a slave to obedience under righteousness. You're going to be a slave either way. I'd love to tell you that we're in control. God gave us free will, but we're going to be in one or the other camp. We're either going to be in the righteousness camp or we're going to be in the sin camp. There's no middle ground. And I think that's why Jesus spews out of his mouth in Revelation the lukewarm believer, because those people think that they can walk the middle of the road. There's no middle of the road in Christianity. There's no middle of the road in this world. You're either going to be a slave to righteousness or you're going to be a slave to sin. And that's all Paul's saying, is we got to understand that our carnal mind and our carnality, our five senses, are never gonna fall in line with the Word of God. We have got to make them fall in line based on the Spirit, based on the Word. And then when our spirit man takes over, when our spirit man takes control and it says, no, the Word of God says this, then our soul, if we, if we believe it and receive it, if we believe what we read and believe what we say, then we shall have whatever it is we say. That's called faith. The just shall live by faith. We have to make our spirit come alive and live by the word of God. And then when our soul, our mind, will, and emotion agrees 100% wholeheartedly with what the word of God and what our spirit man is saying, then our spirit and our soul are in agreement. Now it's two-thirds majority. Your spirit and soul say yes, and your body has to follow along. But on the other side of that equation, if your body is the one calling the shots and your body is the one saying, oh no, I've got a sore here, my, my elbow is killing me, my elbow is hurting, and if you keep continually talking about the pain in your elbow, even though the Bible says that by his stripes you were healed, if you side with your five senses your mind, will, and emotion goes with your flesh, then your flesh is going to win the day. And I think it's just as simple as that. I mean, I know that's oversimplified, but you are spirit, soul, and body. And I— you've got to remember that your body is never ever going to be redeemed. So your body is always going to not line up with the truth. Or a better way to say that, your body is never gonna line up with your truth. The only thing that you can do is get your mind, will, and emotion, your soul, to line up with the Word of God. The only thing that's gonna line up with the Word of God is your mind, will, and emotion, and that's why you plant the Word into your soul. You plant the Word in, and you keep reading it, and you keep meditating on it, and sooner or later, your mind, will, and emotion will lean over to the Spirit. You gotta walk by faith and not by sight. You can't expect to see it until it's already happened. And that's why it's so— that's why it's such a narrow gate and difficult is the way. You're not gonna be able to see the results until it just happens. You have got to see the results with your mind's eye, with your hope, the evidence of things hoped for. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith requires that you don't see it. But you have to— hope is that a vision, that imagination. And again, I'm going to link to the series about faith and hope and love and all of that stuff in the previous lessons. But hope is being able to see it with your mind's eye, with your spirit eye, or with your imagination, however you want to picture it. Hope is where you just continually start seeing it as not as you are, not without a sore elbow, If you're like a tennis player and you got tennis elbow or whatever, you got to see yourself without your sore elbow. And so then you got to see yourself in your mind's eye playing tennis without having a sore elbow. You got to walk around like you don't have a sore elbow, and you can't keep talking about how sore your elbow is. And I've kind of illustrated that with my sore tooth or whatever, but I'm not going to go back and rehash all that. But you have just got to call those things which are not as though they are. You don't have to lie to yourself, but you got to find a scripture in the Word which allows you to stand on that scripture until it comes to pass. And I've, I've gone over a lot of the scriptures, and I, I don't want to rehash that, but I, I do want you to know that faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. The just shall live by faith. It's all interconnected. It's voice activated. All of these things, you got to speak it out loud, you got to read it You got to hear it and you got to believe it, and you just got to keep doing— you got to keep meditating. We're going to move into this next episode. We're going to talk about this a little bit further, but let's pray real quick. God, I thank you so much for the person listening to this episode. God, I pray in Jesus' name that if I've confused them, Lord, that you would straighten it out. Holy Spirit, thank you for being there. Your truths, but Lord that you would just correct me and help lead, guide, and direct me and the person listening to this episode.
