Justification Stop one on the Mountain of God justified by faith part 2

Greg explains justification by faith as spiritual rebirth that makes you a new creature, as if you never sinned. He divides human nature into spirit, soul, and body, arguing the spirit revives at conversion while the soul becomes the battleground between flesh and Spirit. Baptism symbolizes dying to the flesh and rising with Christ.
Welcome to episode 171.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Episode 171. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, I'm gonna pick back up on the book of Romans, back on justified by faith. We're gonna do this as part 2 because this is the first step on the mountain. Like I told you before with the mountain of God teaching, is I kind of want to dig into each step and maybe go a little bit deeper and kind of dig in to to what some of these different stops on the mountain represent. And justification is a huge step, and we have to understand that when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, when our spiritual birth happens or our spiritual rebirth happens, we become a new creature and we are justified by faith, just as if we had never sinned. And we are translated from the And again, I've gotta have this picture in my head. I've got an island of hell, Hell Island, that's just crowded, it's dark, it's hot. There's only one way off of this island, and it is through Jesus Christ. And it is, all roads do not lead to Heaven Island. There is one. Jesus declared himself, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." No one gets to the Father except through me. The Father is on Heaven Island, or in heaven, but I'm just using the island. This is just for an example, just so we can picture this. But if you're on Hell Island now, you cannot see Heaven Island with your physical eyes. All you see is this great ocean, this great expanse. There's nothing— there's absolutely no way that you can get off this island. You are stuck on this island. There is no leaving this island. You are just stuck there. That's where you are. That's where you spend your whole life. And if you do not get to Heaven Island, you will spend eternity on Hell Island or in hell. It is imperative, I believe, that you hear the word of God. It— the only way to to get off of Hell Island is to hear the Word of God, the Gospel, the Good News. It is the power, it is the only way through salvation is the Gospel, it's the Good News, it is— there's one way to get off this island and it is through the Lord Jesus Christ. Now I am assuming that you've already accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior because you're listening to This Fanatic on this podcast episode. If you've just stumbled across this, I'm gonna link in the show notes to the salvation message that I had on a previous episode, but I do not want to use this 10 minutes or 12 minutes that I have to rehash something I've already got. So if you have not accepted Jesus Christ and you kind of feel like, mm, I need to listen to that, then I'll have that episode in the show notes. But I want to move on because we are justified. When you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are changed. You become a new creature. And what happens, your flesh is still unredeemed. There is no way that your flesh can ever become redeemed. Not with— not the body, not the flesh that you're currently in. That's why we're going to get a new body. We get a new body that is a totally redeemed body. But that's going to come when Jesus returns. Here's what I want you to picture: if we are three parts— spirit, soul, and body— and our spirit man was dead before Christ, so now we've got a dead flesh or dead body, we've got a dead spirit man, and our soul, our mind, will, and emotions— that's why we cannot— we can never be redeemed, because there's two of three that are dead. And two out of three, in a majority— it's a simple majority So your spirit that's dead and your body, your flesh that's irredeemable, they're going to fight against your soul. That's why you can never make heaven. You— when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, your spirit man comes alive. You become a new creature. You are translated from Hell Island to Heaven Island. You are now in a brand new, totally different kingdom. And so we need to start looking at our life in a different realm. We are now, we are no longer sinners, we are now saints. And that's why I wanted to talk about how we see ourselves. We have got to see ourselves now as a totally new creature. We can't see we were sinners, we sinned all the time, and sinners sin without Christ. That's the only thing sinners do is they just sin. Now, your mind, will, and emotion, you may have a conscience and you may think you're a good person, but you are gonna always fall into sin if you do not have Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. I didn't write any part of the book, that's just what it says. You are a slave to sin, but if you accept Jesus Christ, then you become a slave to righteousness. We're still, quote, slaves to one or the other, but why not be a slave to right standing? Why not be a slave to God, who is a loving and perfect Father, who whose characteristics are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Why not be on that team instead of the works of the flesh team, which are evident: adultery, fornication, uncleanliness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousy, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like. Of which I tell you beforehand, just as I told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not enter the kingdom of God. You are not gonna enter the kingdom of God, and that's what your flesh, these right here, is what you're always gonna fall into if you do not have the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God is the other, the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. You are going to be one or the other. And if your spirit man is alive, you have the fruit of the Spirit inside of you. Now what you have to do is you have to then understand, now we've got this battle going on. Our spirit man is at enmity. He is fighting against the flesh. Again, where the flesh is never going to be redeemed. We can— we're going to read into Romans how we're you know, what Paul was battling with this idea. And let's go to that real quick. And again, Romans is a difficult book if you try to understand it with your mind only. You have to— this has to be spiritually discerned. But we have to understand that our flesh is what dies. We got to kill our flesh. We got to get our spirit man reborn. When we accept Jesus Christ, our spirit man comes alive, and we put to death the works of the flesh. And I want you to see this, and that's why, again, why baptism is so important. It symbolizes what actually happened when we accepted Jesus. And let's go to Romans 6. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we were buried with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of his death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of his resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death that he died, he died to sin once for all, And the life that he lives, he lives to God. Likewise, you also reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you shall obey its lust. Unless you can picture your body dying, and you, you've got to put to death your mortal body. And that's what happens when we are baptized in Christ, in our spirit man, determine, hey, we're going to take the of the Spirit. Now we don't do it perfectly and we don't do it all the time, but what we do is we remember that we are spirit. Our spirit man is alive and our spirit man is who we have running the show now. And so the Holy Spirit is now alive in us and the Holy Spirit is who leads and guides and directs us. And now it— this three-part— instead of having a dead spirit and a dead body, We just have our body is dead, but we have our spirit is alive and our soul is alive. When our mind, will, and emotion, our soul, lines up with the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, then we walk in the Spirit. But when our soul, our mind, will, and emotion lines up with our flesh, with our carnal flesh, our five senses, when our soul lines up with that, then we're walking in the flesh. So the The goal, and that's why God says the just shall live by faith, and it's impossible to please God without faith. God is trying to get his kids to take this step in faith. You have got to learn to get in the Bible. Again, soapbox number 752, we have got to be in the Bible. We've got to learn to plant the Bible in our heart. There's a lot of things, that's why we're here, and I appreciate you being here. I know we do a lot of scripture, I know there's a lot of reading, and I know I have superior reading skills, but we have to hear the Bible and we got to keep hearing it and keep hearing it. And then we got to set up a side. The battle is for our soul and it's our spirit man against our flesh man. And we have got to tell ourselves over and over and over again, our spirit man is alive. We are a saint of God and that we don't— saints don't do this. And so you gotta constantly be battling your flesh because your flesh is gonna say, "Ooh, I wanna do that." And your spirit man and the word of God, you go in the word of God and the word of God, it doesn't line up and you say, "No, I can't do that. The Bible doesn't give me permission to do that." And then the next episode, we're gonna conclude this. I don't think we're gonna conclude the teaching, but we're gonna move into the fact that we are spirit. So I want to, pray real quick. God, I thank you so much for everything that you've done in my life. Lord, I thank you for what you're doing in this listener's life, and I pray in Jesus' name that you would encourage, empower, and inspire them to get into your word and to understand. Holy Spirit, help them to understand your word. If I've confused them at all, I bind that up in Jesus' name, and I release the power that's in the name of Jesus for wisdom and knowledge to them, and let them Let them understand like they've never understood this truth before. God, we thank you. We love you. We ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you on the next episode.
