Learn how to plant the Word, eat the Bread and weld the Sword

Greg Ryan discusses using Scripture as spiritual nourishment, seed, and weapon through a new 30-day "Destroy Fear" course. He centers on 2 Timothy 1:7, Proverbs 29:25, and Psalm 91 to confront fear with God's power, and shares his plan to launch a paid membership community with daily readings, journal prompts, and sword-drill exercises.
Welcome to episode 241.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 241. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, let's get right into this episode. I want to start with our original scripture that we started with at the very beginning of these teachings, 2 Timothy 1:7. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. And then I want to go to Proverbs 29:25. The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. And then we went to Psalm 91. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in him I will trust. And I wanna try to combine all three of those scriptures and start talking about what's going on in my life, 'cause if you are a frequent flyer here, if you're a fanatic, you'll know that this podcast, what I've created here, is just an ordinary guy that's not perfect following after a perfect example. I am imperfect, but I'm gonna follow after Jesus, and I'm gonna, as I do that, I'm gonna make mistakes. And I've talked about multiple mistakes I've made, all last year. And one of the mistakes I continue to make is I start over-promising and I under-deliver. And if I was a truly wonderful marketer, I would under-promise and over-deliver, but that hasn't been the case. And so what I've been doing in the background is I've been trying to build a membership site, and I want to pull everything off of Facebook. And, and I've talked about that 10% of the people love you and 20% of the people hate you and 70% of the people don't care. And what I want to do, and in my goal, my perfect— and I'm putting air quotes up— my perfect community would be 10% of the people that are like me. And I know that's probably a stretch, but somebody that loves Jesus may not do everything right and don't do a lot of things right, but are willing to commit to staying in the Word and listening to the Holy Spirit and just trusting the process, not getting in a big hurry. But while we're doing that, I think it would be wonderful to be able to lock arms and to be able to communicate. And one of the things that I've talked about here on this podcast is it's a one-way communication. It's me talking to you, but it's hard for you to talk back to me. And in order to solve that problem, I got a problem, and I know it's probably my problem, But I've got a problem with Facebook, and I'm not crazy about YouTube. I'm trying to learn YouTube, but I'm not crazy about YouTube either. And it's these social platforms that they can deplatform you, or they can say, "No, you're not going to say that here." And I don't know that I'm going to say anything controversial, but I've talked in a previous episode about the 7 things that most believers don't believe, these 7 truths that are in the Bible. These are radical truths, and you know, one of them is marriage is between a woman and a man. And there's a lot of people in the church that think that that's a little antiquated and it's dated and we should not be talking about that. I didn't write one word of the Bible. This Bible is not from me. I am studying to show myself approved. I am trying to get into the Word of God, allow the Word of God to get into me, And the Bible is clear. God made marriage between one man and one woman. That's it. There's not a bunch of different variations. There's a man and a woman. There's two genders, if you will, male and female. And it doesn't matter what you're self-identifying as, a male or a female or something in between. If you've got two X chromosomes, you're a woman. If you've got an X and a Y, you're a man. Now, that may be— there may be different variations of male. There may be alpha males and beta males and I-don't-care males. God loves variety, and we don't all have to be the exact same. In fact, Paul is clear about talking about different parts of the same body. None of us have the same role. None of us have the same aggressive level or aggression. Some people are in-your-face aggressive. Some people are passive-aggressive. Some people blurt their— whatever's going on in their mind. Some people have a filter and don't say anything. Some people hold their tongue. Everybody's different, but we're all part of the same body. And what I want to do, and what I'm trying to create, is a community of believers. And what I'm willing to do is I'm willing to build this community up, and I'm going to try to get access. If you're interested in this, I'm going to try to get you one month free access, and I'm putting air quotes up. Because this is going to be a paid membership site. And there's two reasons why I'm doing this. One is if you don't pay for something, you really don't appreciate it. And two— actually, there's probably three— is there's no real transformation without a transaction. And I want to be able to keep out trolls, just your regular trolls. If people just— there's mean, mean people. And when I've told you about the 10% that love you or love this idea 20% hate it, 70% don't care. The 90% that, that either hate it or don't care, I don't want them in the community. I don't want them wrecking the community. And I think that would happen with a free community. And I'm not going to make it so outrageously expensive that no one can afford it. In fact, I think it's going to be underpriced, and I think that's going to be a problem. But I want it to be a problem on that side, that than a problem that somebody really wants to get in and can't afford it. So I'm working out all those details, and I'm gonna have it attached to the class that I've talked about, this 30 Days to Destroying Fear. We're gonna plant the seed, and I, I don't know that that is the true name of the course yet, but it is gonna be a 30-day course, and it's gonna be 30 very small videos, or lessons if you will, with a little daily journal. And I know, I know, I bought multiple journals. I have never consistently written in them, but I'm gonna try to take the plunge this time. I'm gonna print it out. Word— it's not gonna be anything that we can buy. I may one day have this journal, but I'm gonna have a PDF that you can download. I'm kind of pulling all this stuff together. The Word of God, we know, is Jesus. Jesus is the Word. The Word was with God, the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. The Word is Jesus, but the Word is also multiple things. The Word is the Bread of Life. Jesus called himself the Bread of Life. It is also the incorruptible seed, and that is found in 1 Peter 1:23, having been born again not of corruptible seed but incorruptible through the Word of God, which lives and abides forever. And then The word is also a sword. The sword of the Spirit and the word of God. So in this 30-day class, I'm going to teach you how to use the word as bread, as seed, and as a sword. We'll have daily readings, and we'll have a planting, and then we'll have what I guess amounts to sword drills. If you're going to be a warrior, you're going to have to learn how to wield your sword. Against the enemy. And so that's kind of in my mind, that's kind of what we're going to do. The first seed that we're going to plant is in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." I believe that is so important in the day that we're living because the Bible is clear things are not going to get better, they're going to get worse. And if they're going to get worse than they are today, then you and I need to be prepared for battle. And that does not mean that we get ready to fight and we go take on the enemy. That means that we are to stand and stand therefore. And that is found in Ephesians 6, and let's start in verse 10. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore. And I'm gonna stop right there. You can finish reading Ephesians 6. The point that I wanna make is we are not supposed to go running after— I know that I say Satan is a punk. In fact, I'm wearing that t-shirt today, but it just reminds me that he is our enemy. We are not to make friends with the punk. We are not to invite him in our house. In fact, if he's in your house, you need to kick him out in Jesus' name. But we are to stand when the enemy comes in the evil day. Therefore, take up— and this is 13— therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore. It doesn't say go run after him. It doesn't say to fight like a madman. It says just to stand there. And we're going to talk about this in that class. And I'm excited about the class. I am here to tell you that I said it was going to be the 20th in the 20-week of January. It's probably going to be closer to the first week in February. I know I'm trying to be more responsible. I have a life going on here. And I have— I need to make an announcement. I have kicked COVID's butt 3 times in this life. I am 3-0 against COVID. COVID's a punk. And I know it's real, and I'm not trying to make light— as you, some of you already know, my dad died of COVID So I'm not here to say that it is not a legitimate disease, but it has been used as a weapon by the enemy to make people afraid. They're running around in fear. And I'm here to tell you, in the name of Jesus, we can destroy COVID and the works of the enemy, and we don't have to live in fear. But that's enough. I feel myself going off on another tangent and chasing after another rabbit. Let's pray real quick. God, I thank you so much for this listener. I pray in Jesus' name that there— if there is any fear in them or around them, I bind it up in Jesus' name and I cast it out, and I release the power, the love, and the sound mind into this person right now and into their world and into their home and into their car or wherever they are right now, in Jesus' name. Lord, we thank you, we love you, we ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you on the next episode.
