Seek first the Kingdom of God and the law of incrementalism

In episode 230 of the "No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe" podcast, host Greg Ryan introduces and elaborates on his self‑coined "Law of Incrementalism," which he frames as the biblical principle of seedtime and harvest that underlies the Kingdom of God. He ties this law to Genesis 8:22‑20, describing God’s covenant with creation that guarantees the cycles of seasons, harvest, and day/night. Ryan argues that these natural laws are immutable, just as physical laws like gravity, and that the Bible’s non‑negotiable law is the seed‑time/harvest principle. He critiques contemporary cultural trends—lawlessness, defunding police, pandemic responses, and climate‑change debates—suggesting they stem from a departure from biblical worldview. He emphasizes the importance of the fivefold ministry (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers) and daily Scripture immersion as the prism through which believers should view life. Ryan shares his personal journey: from zero episodes in 2019‑2020 to over 200 episodes by late 2021, attributing his growth to incremental effort and a spreadsheet tool he created to track spiritual and practical progress. He urges listeners to seek God’s kingdom first, trusting that other needs will be added, and invites them to apply the Law of Incrementalism in upcoming episodes.
Chapters
Welcome to episode 230.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 230. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. In the last couple episodes, I introduced goals, and you may be thinking, what does that have to do with the Bible? I don't see any reason why we need to separate the church and state. We need to separate— these need to be two separate entities. And I think that's part of the problem, and the wheel in the middle of the wheel is what I believe is gonna help bring all of that together. And before I get ahead of my skis here, I need to introduce the concept of the kingdom of God or God's way of doing things. And I've talked about this on multiple episodes back in the day, and I'll try to link to the beginning of that teaching. But the kingdom of God, God's way of doing things, is seedtime and harvest. And I've made up, and I'm putting air quotes up, I've made up a term called the law of incrementalism. Sir Isaac Newton came up with the law of gravity, or he discovered gravity, and he discovered the law of relativity, I believe. Again, I— it's been a long time since I've had physics. In summary, I believe it's the body at rest tends to want to stay at rest, and that's what I'm talking about. If that's not the theory of relativity, then I apologize. There are laws out there that are working whether you believe in them or not. You cannot believe in gravity and step off a 10-story building and the law of gravity will show you that it's real. I'm just here to tell you that you don't need a lot of faith to understand that gravity is real. The law of aerodynamics— I have absolutely no idea about the law of aerodynamics, but if I went in and studied it you would see that there is lift and there is— I think there's drag, I don't know, I'm not even gonna start talking about that. But there are certain laws. Just because I don't know about it doesn't mean it's not here. And I believe that God set all of this up from the beginning when God said, "Let there be." All of this was put in place. Gravity was here on Earth when God said, "Let there be." Now it took a minute for us to figure out or what to call it. We may not even thought about it until the apple fell on Newton's head.
Head.
And I don't even know if that's a true story, but that's the story that I've heard. You know, he was sitting under an apple tree pondering life, I guess, I don't know, and an apple fell and hit him on the head. And then he started thinking, well, why did that apple fall straight down? And I start studying the Bible, and I want— when I start reading in, how can I apply that to my life is what I tend to start asking myself. And as I ask myself those questions, and then I take this prism that I have on my life, that it is the biblical worldview, that I look at the Bible instead of looking at what's going on in the world and what's going on in my body. I look at what's going on in the Bible and then try to get my body and this worldview to submit to what the Bible says. And I know some of y'all are probably putting your eyebrow up right now or cocking your head and going, mm-mm, I think you're a little out there. Which may be true, but there are certain laws in this world that are non-negotiable. And I believe the non-negotiable law of the Bible is the seed time and harvest. And if you're wondering where I'm picking that up, we're going to go to when Noah stepped off the boat and God made a covenant with creation. And this is in Genesis 8:22. 'While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.' So God spoke those words, and if you want to argue with it, just go out there and tell me that there's not a night and day, and tell me that there's not a winter and summer, and tell me that there's not seasons and the seedtime and harvest. So we're going to take the word of God. If you're going to listen to this podcast, we're going to try to, in the best of our ability, is to apply the word of God to our lives.. And what we use to do that is we use the Word of God, obviously, and then we use preaching and teaching from the Word of God. The fivefold ministry— and I'm, I don't know that I've got them in order, but it's apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. The fivefold ministry, that's who encourages and builds up the body of Christ. That is where we get our inspiration, if you will. But the Word of God is where everything comes together. And if it's not in the word of God— this is the biblical worldview, and this is soapbox moment number 727— you need to be in the word of God, and you need to get the word of God in you. If you're not reading the Bible, if you're not studying the Bible, if you're not using the Bible as the prism to look through your life, I'm just— in my humble opinion, I believe you're susceptible to the deceiver and deception and all of this anxious fear, nervousness, hate, crime, everything. All this lawlessness that's going on, there's no real answer for that if you don't go into the Bible and go, hey, this is crazy. And if you've ever said— my wife and I sit and we every now and then we'll turn on the news and we just start shaking our head and going, man, this is crazy, what is going on in this world? And what it is, it's lawlessness. If you cannot see them attacking the law. If you cannot see— you see people in San Francisco just raiding stores, just breaking in and stealing merchandise out of stores, and they're not prosecuting. And all it does is create more and more lawlessness. And who wants to live like that? Who wants to live in a city or a world survival of the fittest? Everybody wants to go hug a tree But no one wants to talk about the elephant in the room, that if you start just turning your back on people that are more aggressive than you, I mean, you can't hug everybody and you can't love everybody into submission to your idea. What happens is you get people that are bent toward lawlessness, that have no care about the word of God. All they want to do is conquer. They don't have a problem. Hitting you over the head and taking your stuff. And that is from the punk that he's motivating these people that do not look at God as their source. They look at, well, there's a weak person right there and I'm going to go take what he has and I'm going to make it mine. That is not God-like, that is not biblical. And then our law, we defund the police. Are you kidding me? Why would you defund the police? And again, this is what happens when you put people in charge that are not God-fearing, that don't use the Bible as their guide. They're using whatever last paper or whatever their professor said 20 years ago, and they've just let that marinate until they used all of this crap that's going on in the world. And I know I probably shouldn't say crap, but all this stuff that's going on with the pandemic, and then you think there's global warming. And you— and I'm not going to argue that it's not getting hotter or colder. What I argue with the global warming is that there's not anything that we can do to stop it. Now, we can be good stewards and we can do all of those things, and I'm not against being a good steward, but I'm against saying that you've got to control me to control the earth. That is just crazy. That is asinine. It is crazy to think that I can do one thing to cool this planet down. And I have gone off on a rabbit tangent. I was wanting to talk about the Law of Incrementalism, if you remember from our beginning of this. And it is a law that I found. It goes into the seed time and harvest, and it's the kingdom of God where Jesus said, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. And all of these things are the stuff that you and I need to get after during the day. That, that is just like clothing, it's food, it's all of these things that make life more enjoyable. Jesus himself said that if the first thing you do is seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness all of these things will be added unto you. And we're gonna dip into that in the next few episodes, and we're gonna talk specifically about how you apply that teaching to your life. And it's the Law of Incrementalism, and I know I'm making that up, but it, over the last 2 years, I can promise you, it has changed my life. This past year, starting in January, mid-January, I started this podcast and now it's, I think, middle of December-ish right now when you're gonna be listening to this. And I have done over 200 episodes that in 2019, 2020, I had none. I had zero. So in 2021, I have got 200+ episodes on a podcast that are never going down. And it just took time. It's just a little bit here, a little bit there., and I just want to encourage you to tune in to the next episode. I'm going to pull back the curtain and I'm going to show you how I did this thing. I'm going to make, make available to you one of the coolest things that I've created, and I think God kind of showed it to me on the books that I read and as I'm studying and as I'm listening to my pastor and other Christian teachers. It is an incredible spreadsheet that I created, and I'm telling you, if you will give it time, it will change your life. Here's the problem we're gonna run into, is that everybody wants it right now. And if you want it right now, if you're not committed to put a little bit of time and effort into this thing, it ain't gonna matter what we talk about. If you want it next Thursday, that's not the kingdom of God. That is not how the kingdom of God works. To close this up, we're gonna go back to Genesis. I want you to hear what God says it's gonna remain. And I wanna go up to Genesis 8:20 because I just wanna set the stage for when God spoke to Noah. But Noah had just got off the ark and he built an altar to God. And he just wanted to show his appreciation for getting through all of this. And then let's go to 8:20. Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took of every clean animal and every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 17:25 And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma; then the LORD said in his heart, I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. 17:26 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease. God spoke these words and he put into effect or made a covenant with Noah, which still stands today. While the earth remains, the earth remains. So you've got seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and night and day. I just wanna encourage you to think about how we just take so much in this life for granted. We take the days and the nights and all of it running together. We're coming up on a brand new calendar. 2022. We don't thank God enough for the day and the night, for the sun and the moon. It is incredible what God has put into place. And the winter and summer. And you've got the different seasons because you, you grow stuff, then you harvest stuff, then you let it rest. I mean, winter is when you cut back and you prune. I'm going to stop here. Let's pray real quick. God, I thank you so much for your word. I thank you, God, for just putting inside of me the desire to help your people. God, I pray if this person is struggling or this person is hungry and looking for answers to this world, I pray that they would get into your word. God, you have helped me through your word. Holy Spirit, you have helped me through your guidance. And I pray in Jesus' name that you would help this listener the same way you helped me. God, we thank you. We love you. We ask it all in Jesus' name.
Amen.
Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you on the next episode.
