Spiritual Warfare The Armor of God Part 12

In episode 63 of the "No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe" podcast, host Greg Ryan dives into the biblical concept of the Armor of God, drawing from Ephesians 6:14‑17. He shares his personal journey preparing this teaching, noting how the process has deepened his own understanding. Greg emphasizes the necessity of standing firm and facing spiritual enemies, citing biblical examples such as David, Gideon, and the fall of Jericho. He warns listeners about the lies of the enemy that undermine self‑worth and encourages believers to recognize their identity as children of God. The episode outlines the four pieces of armor to wear (helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, shoes of the gospel of peace) and the two items to carry (shield of faith, sword of the Spirit), with prayer as the spoken component. Greg stresses that putting on the armor should be a daily practice and previews upcoming episodes that will explore each piece in depth. He concludes with a call to subscribe, leave reviews, and support the podcast’s mission to empower Christians in their spiritual walk.
Welcome to episode 63, In the Beginning Was the Word.
And the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 63. I believe I'm finally going to be released to talking about putting on the whole armor of God. If you've been with me on the other 11 episodes, I apologize. If you're kind of a doer and you want to get to the bottom line, I mean, that's kind of how I am, and that— and God's kind of in his own way changing me because I want to get to the— I hurry up and I read through this, the book, to get to the end. I, I want to get to getting that armor on, but God had different plan for this teaching, obviously, because I figured this would be a week, maybe two at the most, and here I am on the second full week of teaching and I hadn't put the first article of clothes on yet. I hope you've gotten something out of this teaching and out of this, these lessons, because I certainly have. And part of the whole reason that I'm here is because I need this. I need to hear from God, and I need to get into his word, and I need to dig out some things that he's trying to teach me, because I'm walking through this life just like you are, and I need these truths in my life as much as you need 'em in your life. So I am trying to get to the armor of God, and I'm really not trying to delay this or drag this on. I just wanna let you know I've learned so much in prepping teaching this in the armor of God that I hadn't really discovered before. And so I hope, I mean, I hope maybe you've gotten a nugget too. You may have already known this, but some of this stuff I didn't even know was part of the armor of God or the preparatory work of the armor of God. And, and God had pretty much showed me, look, we, you need to be able to conduct my power and you need to be able to, and it's I just don't think you could spend too much time in the Word of God. Now, you have to go to your work, and you do have to sleep, and you do have to eat, and you do have to have interaction with, with brothers and sisters and, and people out in the world. So I'm not saying that you just keep your head down in your Bible all day, every day, and tell God all of his secrets to life. I'm not saying that. I'm saying that if you just get into the Word, God and the Holy Spirit will build you up. And part of what he's doing in my life, it's humbling because— and I, I guess I would need to turn that back into the humbling part. We did— I did humble myself and tell him, look, if you want me to do a podcast, I'll do a podcast. And to be honest with you, I don't think he cares whether I do a podcast or not. I just think he wants me in his word, and he knows that if I'm not trying to teach somebody, something that I'm not going to spend as much time. And I don't know, maybe it's just the way I'm— maybe it's just the way he made me. But if I start— if I know I'm going to have to teach you something, then I start digging in. I start trying to figure out what it is God wants me to teach you. And in the process, God is so cool that he teaches me something in the process. And I, you know, the way God and the Holy Spirit is, what he's probably teaching me about his word, it may not be what he's teaching you, and that's fine. I mean, I'm fine with that as long as you're getting something. And it says that the word will not come back void, so you're going to get something out of this because we are studying the word of God. And with that in mind, let's go to the word of God. And I want to pick it up in Ephesians 6:14. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all of the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Well, we're finally to putting on the whole armor of God, but before we start putting something on, I wanna remind you, and you've probably heard this if you've ever heard a teaching on the armor of God, that there is no armor on your backside. There's nothing protecting your back. There's nothing protecting your hamstrings and the backside of your glutes. And I think that's why Paul told us before we start putting this on to stand, stand therefore. You face your enemy. In life, anytime you come against an enemy, The only position God is going to have you take is one of facing your enemy. Now, he may, he may have you just stand still, watch him, and listen for his word, but you are going to stand in front and face your enemy. That King David did not run away from the giant, he ran towards the giant. And Gideon We, we talked about Gideon. He did not run away from the camp. He stood with his trumpet and his pots, and he blew the trumpets and broke the pots and stood there facing his enemy. And the same goes for Jericho. When they marched around the city, in, um, Jericho, they marched around. Remember, they did it one day for 6 days, and then they did it the 7th day. They did 7 times. And when they blew the trumpets The walls fell down flat, and then they faced their enemy. So we are going to face our enemy. That's what we need to make sure that we understand, is that God gives us the victory. We are more than conquerors. I just feel like that for whatever reason, the body of Christ is not using the power and the authority that God has given them. And I don't— I think it's more of a deception. I think that Satan has just either beaten us down or convinced us that, you know, that we're worms or we're nothing and there's no reason to try, or whatever the punk is saying. He's a liar. You can't believe anything if it doesn't line up with the Word of God, then it's a lie. It's just plain and simple. Then it's probably the punk talking to you, or somebody in your life that had said something to you in the past and it has anchored inside of you somehow. You have just made an agreement or you've agreed in your mind that, "Yeah, I am worthless," or, "I'm always gonna be overweight," or, "I'm just not that smart," or any of those things, or, "I'm always gonna be broke. Seems like I'm always gonna be in debt." Whatever the negative thing that's going on maybe in your head, it is a lie because you are a child of the King, and your Daddy owns the cattle on a thousand hills. And just because you may not have it now doesn't mean that Dad, Father God, doesn't have it. And even if I'm talking to you in a different, a whole different country, and you're not in the United States, and you're quote, and I'm putting air quotes up, you're maybe not as prosperous as we are here in the United States, there's still, God can still get to you and he can still prosper you. It may not be with money, but it may be with favor. And it may be with authority or with power. There's, there's so many things that God can do, and it's not, you know, we're not talking about running after prosperity or anything like that. We're talking about getting into the Word of God and listening to what God says. What I'm hearing from God is that we have to put this on every day. We have to put the armor of God on every day, and there are 4 items. I think there's 7 items. I used to say there's 6 items, but one of them is prayer. And so that's kind of— that's something that, that it talks about, that Paul talks about. It says praying always. So we're gonna pray is going to be one of our— one of the things that we're going to do with the armor on. There are 4 items that you put on. You put on the helmet of salvation, you put on the breastplate of righteousness, You put on the belt of truth, and you put on the gospel of peace, the shoes of the gospel of peace. So those 4 items you're wearing, and then there's 2 items that you're carrying. You're carrying the shield of faith, and you're carrying the sword of the Spirit. And those, those 2 items you got in your hand, and then you're praying, that's what's in your mouth. So your, your biggest weapon is the Word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit. But you have to, when it says praying always, I believe you're gonna have to speak it out and you're gonna have to bring it forth, bring it out of your heart or out of your spirit man and bring it out into the world. Well, I just looked at the clock and I'm trying real hard to kind of make this one a little bit shorter because I think I've gone over the last couple. But I wanna thank you for being a part of this. And next week or in the next episode, We are gonna— we're gonna get into each item of the armor, and we're gonna have a little, maybe just a small lesson on what each one represents. And you may have had a better class on this, you know, in 10 minutes it's going to be hard to represent each item properly, but I'm, I'm going to do my best. But I want to thank you for being a part of this podcast, and I want to thank you for being a part of my life. And if you haven't hit the subscribe button, go ahead and do that.. And if you haven't given a review, I, I'm reading all the reviews. I appreciate it. I'm not overwhelmed right now with the reviews cuz there's not that many, but you know, everybody that takes the time to write it, I do appreciate you taking the time to doing that. And I want to thank you for that. I'm told that it helps the algorithms or the powers to be rank this podcast. If you enjoy this and you want to help other people find it, I appreciate you being a part of this and I look forward to talking to you in the next episode.
