Spiritual Warfare The Armor of God Part 8

In episode 59 of the No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, host Greg Ryan frames the Christian life as a battle against a cunning, deceptive enemy—Satan. He announces his work on a new Christian community called “Warrior, Hear My Call,” intended to sharpen believers for spiritual warfare. Ryan emphasizes that merely reading the Bible is insufficient; believers must believe what they read, inviting the Holy Spirit’s help to understand and apply Scripture. He illustrates Satan’s tactics by comparing the serpent’s temptation of Eve (Genesis 3) with the devil’s temptations of Jesus in the wilderness (Matthew 4), highlighting a pattern of questioning God’s word, mixing truth with lies, and appealing to fear, doubt, and division. Ryan argues that knowing the truth—through deep, meditative engagement with Scripture—enables believers to discern and reject Satan’s lies, likening this to how Federal Reserve agents learn to spot counterfeit money by intimate familiarity with genuine currency. He urges listeners to immerse themselves in the Word, rely on the Holy Spirit, and join the upcoming community to become stronger “warriors” for Christ.
Welcome to episode 59, In the Beginning Was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 59. If this is your first time, thank you for being a part of this. If you are a frequent flyer, you will know that I have not had a sponsor in forever on this program, and he is wearing me out, but he's not going to get a chance to, to be yapping on this episode either. But what I did want to, I did want to tell you is that we are going to have, I am, we're I'm working on the community that I talked about, oh, 8 or 10 episodes ago. I'm working on a Christian community where kind of iron sharpens iron. I think I'm going to call it Warrior, Hear My Call, because what I believe that I'm called to do is help Christian warriors get into the battle. I think this life is not a game. Life is a battle, and it's a battle to the death. And I believe that, you know, we're supposed to fight for our friends and family. We're supposed to fight for all of God's kids, all the people that don't know Jesus. I mean, 29 years I went without knowing Jesus. Someone had to give me the gospel message because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. People aren't just going to get saved on their own. That Satan is— he's a punk and he's very good at what he does. And we're going to talk about that in this episode. We're going to talk about because we're in the armor of God. We're talking about the armor of God, or at least I'm attempting to, and God has not allowed me to go into putting on the armor. We are preparing ourselves to put on the armor and to get into the battle. But I think part of the whole situation that we're living in today is we are fighting an enemy that is very cunning. In fact, the Bible calls him the serpent, and he's more cunning than any of the beasts of the field. So we're dealing with someone that's very good at what he does. He knows his craft. He is a deceiver, a discourager. He is into doubt. He is into division. And I'm running out of D words, but he also is really good at stirring up hate and fear. And the whole reason that I'm here on this podcast is the No Doubt, No Fear only believe. We have got to combat all of the stuff that Satan is giving us with the Word of God. And it's not just the Word of God. We can't just read the Word of God. We got to stop— in fact, I think one of the biggest things and one of the simplest fixes we could do is in our quiet time, in our Bible time, as we're reading, instead of reading the Bible— and I've talked about this before— but instead of reading the Bible start believing what you read. And I know that is— it seems like the same thing, but it is not. It is nowhere near the same thing just to read the word as it is to read it and then believe it. And part of that— and that's why it talks about meditating on the word and just milling it over in your head and trying to figure out what's God trying to tell me. That's why you need the Holy Spirit's help. That's why every time before you start reading his word, I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit said he'd never leave you nor forsake you, or God did. Well, the Holy Spirit is there with you. The Holy Spirit is there to help. He is the Comforter. He's your Helper. All of those things, he's there to help. Ask for his help. He wrote the book. So just ask God, God, help me with this. I'm struggling with this verse right here. I'm struggling with this concept. God is waiting for— he's a The Holy Spirit, I've been told, he is the perfect gentleman, and he is not gonna bull his way into your life. You have to invite him in, and you have to invite it, you need to ask him to help. And God does not take that as, you don't have to cue the eye roll and go, "Oh my gosh, this guy." I mean, if he does, then he does this multiple times a day with me, because I'm constantly saying, "Well, what is that? Why is?" What is that going on? And I— God and I will have conversations. Mostly I talk to him and then I try to listen, you know. And I get— sometimes I just get thoughts in my head, you know. And I'm not that bright. If you haven't— if you follow me for any length of time, or if you know me personally, you'll know that I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. But I am willing to learn. And I think that's part of the reason that I'm here and that God allows me to do this is because It— this isn't about me. This is about God. This is about God's word. And really what I'm here to do is I'm here to help you get stronger in his word. Well, I don't know who was supposed to hear that. That was an absolute— that was a big old fast rabbit we tried to chase because it's taken me almost 5 minutes to get all that mess out, and I haven't even talked about what I was going to talk about today. And that is the wiles and how Satan is so cunning and how he uses it. What he does is he twists things, and he'll dabble in some of the truth, and then he, when he, the thing that's really nasty about him is he mixes the lies with the truth. It's hard to sometimes discern it if you don't know the truth, then the truth can't set you free. That's the Bible, is 8:32, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." If you don't know the truth, what you don't know can hook you or trap you. And that's what Satan— if we're going to go to Matthew 4, we're going to go to the temptation again just to show you how he works. This is his way of doing things. He questions the word of God. He's always questioning. If you ever wondered why you battle, you struggle reading the Bible, It's because Satan does not want you in the Bible, because if you're in the Bible, then he's got to fight the truth, and he don't want to fight the truth. He wants to fight you. He wants you— he wants to put all the garbage and all the crap that's going on over the airwaves and the TVs and the internet and all that stuff. He's not wanting to— he's not wanting to fight the word of God. He's wanting to fight the words of men. A lot of what you hear on the news and all of this other stuff. I mean, it has nothing to do with the Word of God. In fact, most of the newscasters, most of the TV, anything, they— the people that are there and the people that are bringing all that news, they're— I don't know that they're all believers. And if they are, they're not, you know, they're not bringing— they're sure not bringing the good news. They may be bringing— I would argue that it's the bad news. It seems like anytime I turn that garbage on They're always telling me some kind of negative, some kind of something. I'm gonna— the 27th time, and if you haven't figured it out, 27 is my exaggeration number, but for the 27th time, I'm gonna tell you, get in the Word of God. It's the only way to fight, truly fight evil, is knowing the truth. One more thing while I'm on my soapbox, I was— I have heard, and I haven't studied this out, the The way an agent at the Federal Reserve is trained on finding or telling the difference between the real— a real dollar and the counterfeit dollars is they just make them handle the real thing over and over and over, like weeks on week, like 8 hours a day or 10 hours a day. All they're doing is touching, they're looking at it, they're feeling it, they're, they're getting to know this dollar or this $100 bill, these $20 bills. They're getting to know the money. And they're holding it so when they see the fake or when they see a counterfeit dollar, it doesn't feel right, it doesn't look right. They know the truth so well that they can spot a counterfeit from a mile away. And that's what I just want to encourage you to do is get to know the truth. And you will, when you hear Satan's voice, the punk starts condemning you or starts telling you something, you'll know that's not God. You're like, no, that has nothing to do with me. And you'll be able to bind him up and cast him out. Well, I, I want to do something different. I want to read what Satan says to Jesus. I also want to read what Satan says to Eve so that you can hear the pattern and you can hear— try to hear the punk's voice. In Genesis 3:1, and he said to the woman, has God indeed said You shall not eat of every tree of the garden. Genesis 3:4-5. Then the serpent said to the woman, you will not surely die, for God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. Now we're going to go into Matthew 4, into the wilderness, when Satan was tempting Jesus. Matthew 4:3. Now when the tempter came to him, he said, if you are the Son of God, command these stones become bread. Matthew 4:6. And he said to him, If thou art the Son of God, throw thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Matthew 4:8, 9. Again the devil took him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory. And he said to him, All these things I will give thee, 'If you will fall down and worship me.' Well, did you notice the pattern? Did you see how he questioned the word of God? Every time he comes at you with a question, because he cannot fight you head to head, he cannot, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. He cannot take you on as a child of the King unless you allow him, unless you fall into his trap or his deception, and you believe his lies. And so the only way to fight Satan, and that's— and I'm gonna get off of this, I've looked at the clock and I know I'm getting over my 10-minute mark, but the only way that you can defeat Satan is by knowing the truth. And Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Jesus is the truth, Jesus is the word, the word is God, and Jesus is God. So all of that, if you want to spend time, and you hear it every time if you listen to my episodes, my little intro guy, he always talks about the truth. And I just encourage you, I want you to get to know the truth. I know you know where I stand on this thing, but get in the Bible. I dare you. Well, that's enough for this episode. It's run on. I kind of rambled, and I apologize for that. I— someone must have had needed to hear what I had to say, and if not, I'll listen to it again and see if it was me. Well, thank you, and I look forward to visiting with you in the next episode.
