What does believing the word of God look like? Free Online Bible Study

Abraham left everything when God told him to, and that obedience is what believing God's word looks like. The speaker connects this to Romans 10:17: faith comes by hearing God's word. Read Scripture, act on it, and exercise your faith muscle by doing what you hear.

¡Hola! Good morning, guys. I want to welcome you to Jesus Mighty Men: The Moment of Truth. I want to continue talking about faith and unbelief, and really we're going to go into what believing the Word of God looks like. And for that, I think a great example in the Bible is Abraham. And in Genesis 12, Genesis 12:1 through, I think it's 4, I'm going to read it real quick. It says, now the Lord had said to Abram, get out of our, get out of your country, from your family, and from your father's house to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. That's Genesis 12:1-4. And I, I changed his name. God eventually changes his name to Abraham, uh, I think father of many nations, but it was Abram who God spoke to And I, and I want to remind you that in, in remote— in Romans 10:17, it says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So God spoke, and I don't know, I mean, I really don't have a clue if that this was the first time God had spoken to Abraham— to Abram. I keep wanting to call him Abraham, but it's Abram. And, and so, but when he does, he makes an impression. God says, you know, get out of the country. Get out of your father's land. Separate yourself is really what he's saying. And Abram does it. Abram hears from God and does it. So I want to encourage you as you open the Bible today, you know, the Bible is called the Word of God. So when you open the Word of God, I mean, it is an opportunity for God to speak to you. So, you know, reason number 27 why I tell you, you know, it's good to be reading the Bible I mean, just read scripture and go in there and kind of read it and listen to what God is telling you. And so I just want to encourage you, we're going to look at Abram for the next few days. We're going to take a look at how he hears from God and what his response is, but it's all about hearing the word of God and then acting on it. And that's what builds that belief muscle up. You know, you gotta exercise your faith, and we'll talk about that too, but it's not anything, you know, you are given the measure of faith when you accept Christ, you have been given faith, and it's planting into your heart, into your spirit man, but it's your job or your calling to grow that faith. So it's how you use the faith that you're given that will separate you. And that's kind of what we're talking about. And faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. So when Abram heard from God, he acted on it. And so that's kind of what I want to encourage you to do today. When you read the Bible today, when you read the word of God, listen to what he's saying. I mean, I want you to, I want you to equate reading with hearing because, I mean, the Bible is the word of God. So grab a cup of coffee if you so desire, or a glass of tea or something, whatever your favorite beverage is, and open up the word today and listen to what God's telling you. And then when he talks to you, when you hear something, act on it. You know, it says, I think it's in James, it says don't just be a hearer only, but be a doer of the word. So that's really what we're trying to encourage people to do. We're trying to encourage you to do the word of God. So that's enough for today. I appreciate y'all stopping in, and I'll be back with some more on Abram tomorrow. Thanks again.
