You do not want to be a double minded or lukewarm Christian.

Greg Ryan warns against lukewarm Christianity, using Revelation 3:15 to describe God's revulsion at churches that are neither cold nor hot. He argues true faith requires all-or-nothing commitment to biblical worldview, rejecting cultural relativism, and cites Matthew 13:45 on the kingdom as a pearl demanding wholehearted pursuit.
Welcome to episode 214, In the Beginning Was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 214. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, I am continuing to talk about the idea that God wants us to pick a side, and we went to Revelation, and it was Revelation 3:15. I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth. And I just got to have you kind of picture this. If as you're driving down the road or mowing your grass or sitting in your hammock or whatever you're doing right now, I can't think of a thing that I like less than throwing up. And I'm telling you, that is just awesome to be talking about this on a podcast. I know you were just fired up, Greg. Let's talk about vomiting more. I know this is going to be just like your favorite episode, but I just need you to picture that God Almighty, the one and only, the one true God, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, is telling you, "Hey, I'm going to throw you up out of my mouth." That is how repulsive this lukewarmness is to me, this middle-of-the-road Christianity is not gonna get it. And Father God, if he, if Jesus is the perfect representation of Father God, lukewarmness is not what our goal should ever be. You are not going to hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant," by standing in the middle of the road and just getting along with everyone. And I'm not saying you should not love people and And I'm not saying that you shouldn't ought to be kind and gentle. All of those things are true. But there is a place where you take a stand. And one of the things that you take a stand with, if you stay in the Word of God and you stay with the Word of God and you continue to use the Word of God as your biblical worldview, it makes it a whole lot easier. You don't have to go fall into all this garbage. All these pronouns. I was just talking to my son this weekend, and I, again, I'm 58 years old, don't watch a lot of news, so kind of giving you just a, just a general background of who I am and what you're dealing with when you listen to me. But I'm not all that hip when it comes to what's going on in the world and the Instagrams and the YouTubes and the Facebooks. All of that stuff, I'm struggling to even give a care. On trying to be there. And if you've noticed, I just, I fall off very easy when all of the, the Twitter stuff— I got on Twitter 100 years ago when it started and had like 7,000+ subscribers or followers or whatever you can call it. And I just figured out way back then that, man, this is a colossal waste of time. It was like just this huge big old rabbit hole that I would find myself in, and I'd look up and it'd been an hour and a half and nothing got done. I didn't sell a house. I didn't talk to anybody. I'm reading what someone else was thinking in like 20 words or characters or 144, whatever it was on Twitter. I said all that to say that I'm not really all that hip, and my son was telling me that people introduce themselves and then they use, and I like the pronouns he and him. And I looked at him like a dog looks at a new bowl, and it's like, what are you talking about? And he said, yeah, that's how people sometimes introduce themselves, and they'll give me their name and say, and I like the pronouns he and him, or I like the pronouns they and them. And I said, someone actually told you that they are plural? I have a hard time understanding this. I mean, I really do. And if it wasn't so sad, it would be comical. But that's what happens when you lose your foundation, when you lose the fact that God created men and women. We're at the Genesis 1 is where everything is lost. When you as a Christian do not believe the word of God, then you won't be able to answer that men and women is how God created us. God created us male and female. I don't care how you self-identify. I do not care. You can look into the chromosome, you can change whatever is on the outside that you want, but your chromosome is either 2 X's or an X and a Y. And that is no way to get around it. Every cell has either 2 X's or an X and a Y as your— I guess it's a sexual chromosome. So now I'm getting out of school. I'm outside of my league as far as scientific thing. I want to call it the 23rd chromosome, and that's just by memory, but I have no idea. I did not research that, but we are in a place where their foundation— they're trying to destroy the very foundation of our society, and they're doing a pretty good job. If you look at the worldview that's going on right now and all the chaos that's going on, I think you can go back and you can look at how they really honestly are not using the Bible as their reference and as their guide. And if you do that, then anything can happen down the road. You can have any standard, and you can have anything as your guidepost. And if you start walking toward a guidepost that is moving, you're not going to have a very straight line, and you are not going to have a very wonderful life if you keep moving the goalpost or the signpost or whatever you're walking or moving toward. And I think that's what's going on with our world today, is that we have just gotten into such a strange place. In my worldview, I mean, if I look at everything based on the Bible, this thing is way out of hand. And if you can't see it, if you're wondering why it feels like we're walking on the ceiling, it's because I believe the punk has tried to turn this world upside down. And it's our job as the church to turn it right side up again. And the only way we're going to do that— and here's the soapbox moment— is that we get into the Word of God, let the Word of God get inside of us, and start planting our flag and say, "No, this is what the Bible says. This is what the Word of God says, and this is the standard that we're going to live our lives by." And if you can't do that, or if you won't do that, or you refuse to do that, then I'm thinking you're going to kind of sort of be lukewarm. You can't pick and choose the things in the Word of God. That you want to embrace. You've got to embrace the whole Word of God. And I want to go to one of my favorite scriptures. It's found in Matthew 13:45. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he found the one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it. I want you to think of this guy as being all in. I want you to think of this guy as being hot, as in, I wish you were either hot or cold. This guy that finds this pearl is not lukewarm. And I'm not trying to get on to anybody. I'm trying to encourage myself as I encourage you, because we have to take a stand. We have to be the salt and the light. Jesus told us that we were going to have to be the salt and the light of the world. Jesus was the light of the world, but he has gone to the right hand of his Father. He is in heaven making intercession with us right now. He is helping us. He's encouraging us through his Holy Spirit. But it is our job to be the light of the world. It's our job to bring that standard that says Hey, God is the one true God. We need to follow his word. We need to follow this Bible, and we need to turn this world back right side up because it is jacked up. If you're not paying attention, if you're ever wondering, man, what is going on? It is Satan trying to turn this thing upside down and destroy the foundations. And we need to either be hot or cold. Don't try to be half Christian and half worldly. Because I'm telling you, it's just not going to work. I think James says it best in James 1:5: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all of his ways. I just need you to picture yourself as being unstable if you are trying to walk down the middle of this road. You either need to have a Christian biblical worldview, or you need to embrace the worldview that's going on in the world today with all of this jacked-up mess, and then you just don't need to wring your hands anymore and wonder why everything's going to hell in a handcart. Just know that we're not on the biblical worldview. We have lost our foundation and we have lost our way, and that is what's happening is we are letting people decide things that are not foundationally scripturally sound. And so when you feel yourself getting out of control, you feel yourself getting nervous and anxious, it is the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. It is the peace of God that will keep your heart. If you don't stay in the Word, you will lose that peace of God, and it will get out of control in a hurry. And you sure enough don't want Jesus vomiting you out of his mouth— a lukewarm, double-minded, going either way, either side of the road. I'm going to be Christian on this view, but I don't want to make any waves, and so I'm going to be worldly on this idea or this view. You need to— and again, and I hate to sound like I'm thumping my Bible, but I am. I am a Bible thumper. You need to fall in love with the Word of God because God is the Word. Jesus is the Word. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. He sent his word and healed them. God is the Word. He heals all kinds of sickness, all kinds of disease, all kinds of idiocy, all kinds of just screwed up thinking, it all comes from the Word of God. If you want the answers, if you want some clarity, get in the Word of God. Well, I'm pretty certain I probably ruffled some feathers on this one, but you know, sometimes we have to just face the fact. There is black and white. I just don't do good and gray. I've just figured it out. I either need to be black or white. I mean, it's either off or it's on. It's not kind of sort of on. You can't be kind of sort of pregnant. I mean, you either are pregnant or you're not pregnant. You're either going to be a Christian and have a biblical worldview, or you're going to not be biblically worldview. And that don't even make any sense, but you can't be a Christian and have a non-biblical worldview. I'm just telling you, it's not going to go well with you when you stand before God and say, well, you know, that word, it was just a little bit tough. It was a little tough to deal with, so I just kind of, I kind of did my own thing, but I really want to make heaven. Look, I'm telling you, just get in the word. Buy it like a pearl of great value and go all in. That's what God's telling you. It's what he's telling me, and I just want to encourage you just to go all in. Just do all you can to build the Kingdom of God because we are one day closer to His return today than we were yesterday. Let's pray. God, I thank You so much for Your Word. God, I thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus. Jesus, thank You for coming and living that life and dying a death that I deserve to die, but allowing me to become part of Your family and to be translated into a brand new kingdom. And God, I pray for the person listening to this episode. I pray for this person, Lord. Holy Spirit, encourage them with your word. Lord, if any part of this sounded bad to them, Lord, either let them go back and listen to it again, or let them get in the word of God, and Holy Spirit, you comfort them with your word. God, we thank you. Your word is life, it is spirit, it is the truth, and Lord, help us to understand that it is the only thing that makes sense in this crazy world we're in. God, we thank you. We love you. We ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you in the next episode.
