You have to be endued with power to release the power

Greg Ryan argues the church suffers from a power shortage, claiming every believer has the same divine power that raised Jesus from the dead if they truly believe. He uses Peter's healing in Acts 3 and his own life transformation as proof that faith and the Holy Spirit enable believers to act in Jesus' name.
Welcome to episode 181, In the Beginning Was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Spending time in the Word of God is the best way to spend time with God. Welcome to No Doubt, No Fear, Only Believe podcast, where we will encourage, inspire, and empower you to live your best life in Christ. Here's Greg.
Welcome to episode 181. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome back. We're going to jump back into the Endued with Power teaching. We're on step 5 of the mountain. I know we went from step 1 to step 5, and I know that's a big jump and a big step. So we went up the mountain as an introduction. We went to each step in order. But the reason I'm on Endued with Power is because if someone asked me, and I think someone did recently, What's the one thing in the church you wished you could change? And this is the one thing that I wish that we would just all come together and understand that we have a power shortage. And I'm not talking about what the power that's on the inside of us. That power is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We have unlimited godly power living on the inside of us. And I wanna read that because there's somebody out there that don't believe it. Romans 8:11, but if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. And now let's go to Ephesians 1:17, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, The eyes of your understanding be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceedingly greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and seated him at the right hand in heavenly places. Now I want you to take Romans 8 11, and I want you to take Ephesians 1:17-20. And I know I have superior reading skills, but I want you to just kind of let that meditate. And that the same power that is on the inside, that was on the inside of Jesus, and the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, he has quickened our spirit. And to give you the spirit of revelation— I mean, this is a prayer from Paul telling believers of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Father may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation and knowledge. God has got to put this in you. And, and you know, I can say it, I can say that you have the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead living on the inside of you, but you've got to believe it. I can say that you are a saint and not a sinner saved by grace, but you've got to believe it. You've got to receive it for yourself. You have to understand in your understander, wherever that is. You've got to figure this thing out, and you've got to personally know it and be able to understand. And I want to go back to a, a lesson that I talked in Proverbs where it talked about the difference between understanding and knowledge and wisdom. And knowledge is just like this podcast. Knowledge is just an audio or a video. It is something that you hear and that you can just listen to, or you can watch. That's knowledge. That's just information going into your mind, but you don't have to do anything with it except just receive it. Now, understanding is the next step. That's where you take it and you get kind of twisted into where you kind of get an understanding, or you kind of can apply this and reason about what it means, you know, get the meaning of it. And not only do you hear it— that's the knowledge— but you also understand what you're hearing. And so you got a working understanding of what all this means. And I'm not going to go back and teach that lesson. I'll try to link to that in the show notes. But then when wisdom is, is then taking that knowledge and the understanding and then using all of that to apply it to your life. And that's kind of what I do on Saturday's episodes now, is I take what's going on in the world and I take the biblical worldview of what I think the standard that God uses, his word, and then I apply it to what's going on in our world today. And why we're so messed up and why we're so jacked up is because there's no standard. You have got to have a standard in your life. It doesn't have to be the Bible, But I'm here to tell you the Bible has changed my life. And if you want a testimony from just a yahoo that for the first 29 and a half years didn't know God from a billy goat, and then I started to apply this— not perfectly, but started to apply God's Word to my life and consistently use this Word, this Bible, in my life to change my life and to change the people, my my friends and my family around me. I use the word of God to change me, and when I change Greg, then things around me change. And so I just believe that this Bible is so strong that we just need to get it inside of us. And I want to go to one more example, and I've used this before, and it is in Acts 3. And I love the Apostle Peter. If you follow this You know what's coming next, but this is Acts 3. Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple, who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. And fixing his eyes on him with John, Peter said, Look at us! So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk! And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked, and entered the temple with them, walking, leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God. Then they knew it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Now I want you to notice, that was a lot of reading, but I want you to notice what Peter said in Acts 3:6. Then Peter said, silver and gold I do not have, 'But what I do have, I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.' Jesus knew that he had something on the inside that had to get out, and he had just been baptized. He had been endued with power. Jesus told them to wait. Peter waited. Peter was endued with power. Now, we don't know if this was the next day or 3 months later, but Peter walked into the temple through the Gate Beautiful and saw this lame beggar. And he didn't say some fancy-pants prayer. He did not say anything other than, "What I have, I give to you." You've got to have something to give it. And Peter knew that he had been baptized in the Holy Spirit. Peter knew that he had the power. He was given the authority. He was given the authority before he was baptized in the Holy Spirit. And we go back to Matthew 10 where Jesus gave his disciples the power and authority, where Jesus said, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead. Freely you receive, freely give. Peter had already been given the authority to heal the sick, but now he had the power of the Holy Spirit on the inside and on the outside, and he was ready. And he took this power, he brought it into the physical realm. This is a spiritual power. This is God's power. This is not our power. We're gonna talk about this on the next episode, but we are not conducting our power. This is a spiritual power, and it is the spirit that is found in the word of God. The words that I speak, they are spirit and they are life. It is the word of God, and when you dig into this word and you start believing everything that you read, you don't have to understand it, You just gotta believe it. That's the first step is you first you gotta read it, but then you gotta start believing it. And it takes a minute. I'm telling you, it takes a minute. And I told you on a previous episode when I decided, man, I'm gonna start believing everything in this Bible, and then I opened to David's Mighty Men where the first guy on the Mighty Men list was like Adino the Eznite or something like that. And it said that he killed 800 men at one time, and that is a big number. If you don't have a machine gun or you don't have a big old bomb or something, or hand grenades— this guy killed 800 men. And I read that, I had just— I mean, I'm telling you, God's got such a sense of humor. I love God. But I had just said that out loud, God, I'm going to believe everything that I read in the Bible. And he gave me this Adino the Eznite that killed 800 men at one time. And I shut my Bible and I said to God, I said, man, that's, that's kind of hard to believe. My little physical pea-brain mind, then I've got to start figuring this thing out. Then I've got to say, man— and I told you in an episode, and I, I'm not even going to pretend that I'm going to link to it because I can't remember where it was, but I talked about if, if you had to serve 800 Cokes, if you were at a concession stand and you had to fill up 800 glasses, those little plastic wax Coke glasses where you scoop ice and you put them there and you get a 2-liter Coke and you unscrew the lid and you pour Coke into this cup and then you hand it to a person, you take their money, you either give them the change back or you go to the next person.
That's one.
Now if, if you're serving Cokes to 800 people without a break, and let's say you serve one person per minute, and I know that's probably moving slow, but let's say you got to walk back and put the Coke back or they ordered a Dr. Pepper Dr Pepper, or they ordered a Sprite. You gotta walk over there, get the glass, get the ice, get the Sprite. All of that said, let's say 1 per minute. In 60 minutes, in 1 hour, you've only served 60 people. In 10 hours, you've only served 600 people Cokes at a ballgame. 10 straight hours. You don't take a smoke break, you don't take a bathroom break. Nothing. You're still got 200 more people to serve. This guy killed 800 people at one time. That is incredible. He's got a— probably got a sword or spear, and he is getting after it and killed 800 people. I'm not here to tell you that you're just going to read everything in the Bible and just start believing it, but you have to meditate on it, and you need to start learning to own this stuff and You will find that as you meditate and as you start repeating it and as you start believing it, then something changes. I don't know how, but something— the Holy Spirit will help you with his word. He plants it inside of you and it starts growing, and you just start owning it. And it takes a while, and I'm just telling you, just trust the process and trust the word of God and trust the Holy Spirit, and you will come through with this same power. You will have this understanding that Jesus Christ— there's a part of him, or Father God, or the Holy Spirit— there's a part of God inside of you, and that power is the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Well, that's enough for this episode. Let's pray. God, I thank you so much for the power that you have placed on the inside of us, Lord, if we have accepted you as our Lord and Savior. We have been changed. You have made us a new creature, and we are in your kingdom. We are seated in heavenly places. Our spirit man is the same as Jesus. God, we thank you for that. We thank you that we are changed. We thank you that we can continue to renew our mind in your word. Holy Spirit, help wash our mind with your word. Lord, we thank you. We love you. We ask it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Well, thank you for being a part of this, and I look forward to visiting with you in the next episode.
