YouTube Bible Study Destroy Unbelief By Believing The Word of God

A speaker reads 2 Samuel 23 about David's mighty men, including one who killed 800 opponents. He compares 800 to serving that many Cokes at a concession stand to show the scale, then argues believers should trust Scripture's claims. He says all followers of Jesus can become mighty men in Christ's army.

¡Hey, guys! I just want to say good morning, and I want to start off the Moment of Truth this week with a— we're going to continue with the belief and unbelief, but we're going to concentrate more on belief because, you know, the biggest thing is learning how to believe the Word of God.. And I think the best way to kick out unbelief is just start believing. So when I— just to kind of give you an idea how Jesus Mighty Men started, I got, um, I opened up the— I just made up my mind one day that I was just gonna believe the Word of God because I knew I had unbelief. And I'll explain to that this week how I knew, I was certain, and I'm pretty confident I can show you that you've got some too. But I mean, I just decided, look, I'm gonna believe the word of God. And so I opened up my Bible and it, it was on 2 Samuel 23 in verse 8. I'm going to read it to you because it's got some names in here that, that I'm sure I'm going to butcher. But there were— this is David's mighty men, and it says in 2 Samuel 23:8, it says, these are the names of the mighty men whom David had. It says, Joseph Bashib— Bashibeth the Tekmonite, Chief among the captains, he was called Adino the Eznite because he had killed 800 men at one time. And I set my Bible down after I'd read that and I'd made up my mind I was going to believe everything in the Word, and I just thought, wow, 800 men. I mean, that's a lot of men in a battle. And you know, they didn't have guns, they had knives or swords or arrows. But I mean, I just started thinking, golly, that's— I mean, in my thought to myself, that's kind of hard to believe. So as I just pondered it, I was just thinking about it, and I had to get something that I could relate to because I just recently had served Cokes at a concession stand, you know, and not the scoop the ice and have the fountain drink Cokes, the ones that you had, the 2-liter stuff. So I had to scoop, you know, get the cup, scoop the ice, open up the Coke, pour it out, wait for the fuzz or the foam to, to settle down, and then hand them the Coke. And I just imagined, wow, 800 people. If you had to serve Cokes in a line and, and just to do that, and if you served one a minute and you— just to put it in perspective, if you serve one a minute, there's 60 minutes in an hour, you would, after 10 hours of serving Cokes, you would still have 200 people left. That'd be 600 people you would have served, and you still got 200 people. And that's with no smoke break or no bathroom break or anything. I mean, you're— I mean, you're— that's a lot of work serving Cokes. Imagine killing 800 people at one time.. And so I just wanted to encourage you. I just wanted you to think about that. You know, the Bible, people say that it's hard to believe, but excuse me, the Word of God, I mean, all of it's the truth. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. And when I read through David's mighty men, it's in 2 Samuel 23, but when I read through that, I just, in my spirit, in my, you know, I just said, I mean, if David had mighty men, why can't Jesus? He already does, but I just wanted to call them out. The Bible also says once Jesus came, there's no longer a Jew or Gentile or male or female, so anybody can be mighty in Jesus' army. I just want to encourage you, that was kind of the genesis, if you will, of Jesus Mighty Men, that those verses. But when I read that, I just put my Bible down and I was like, wow. So I just started picturing that, and I just, I mean, I just, I just believed it. So I just want to encourage you on a— I want you to pick out a scripture, and I just want you just to, just to dig into that and believe it. So that, that's your homework assignment today, is find your— find your scripture— and then just, just stay on that scripture and just believe the Word of God. So that's enough today. I'm going to move into Abraham probably tomorrow, and, and then I'm going to give you my testimony on one of the reasons I know that I had unbelief and how I'm working on getting it out. But anyway, thanks again for stopping by, and I'll see you again tomorrow.
