YouTube Bible Study Genisis Adam's Wife Eve Adds to Word of God

God told Adam not to eat from the tree of knowledge, but Eve added words to the command, saying touching it would kill you. The speaker argues this addition to God's Word was the first religious error, and warns against altering Scripture today.
Chapters
Good morning, everybody. I wanted to start the week off with the understanding and knowing the Word of God. And we're gonna, we're gonna have a couple scriptures. Romans 10, I think it's 10:17, says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. And we're going to go back to Genesis where Adam and Eve— we had the, um, original, original, uh, word, the word God. Remember yesterday, or last, the last message was God commanded, uh, dominion. He gave, gave Adam and Eve dominion over all the, all of the earth. And so we then see God give him a command in Genesis 2:16 and 17. And he heard the word— Adam heard the word of God. Remember, faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. God said, you're free to eat of any of the trees in the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, because on the day that you eat of that tree, you will surely die. So Adam was given a He was given a command, and so it was his responsibility to then tell his wife and teach his wife. And obviously, when you go into Genesis 3, when you go into Genesis 3, I think it's 2 and 3, where the serpent comes and, and tempts Eve. I think it would have gone a whole lot better, and we're going to read what Eve said, but Eve was told, uh, Eve, the serpent asked Eve, hey, did Can you eat of all these trees? And she said, of all the trees— and I'm going to paraphrase so I don't look down and read the Bible— but it said, all these trees we shall freely eat, but the tree in the midst of the garden, if we eat of that tree, or if we— it says if we eat of the tree, if we eat of the fruit, or even touch it, we will die. So Eve added to the word of God. God told Adam, don't eat it, don't eat of that tree. You can eat of any of these trees, but don't eat of that tree because as soon as you eat of it, you will die. Well, Eve somehow added the fact that if you touch it, you will surely die. And when Satan heard that, because I believe Satan was there, the serpent, Satan, Lucifer, whoever you want to call him, but he was there when he told Adam not to eat of the fruit. And I think, I mean, we're not going to talk about the punk right now, but when there's— I think pride came in and he, you know, he got mad because God gave Adam this whole world and Satan still had to follow the rules and Adam could do whatever he wanted. The only thing Adam couldn't do was eat of that tree. So Satan had made his mind up, well, he's going to get him to eat that tree, eat of that tree. So that's the kind of the short story on, on why I think Adam and Eve fell, is Satan got full of pride and made up his mind he was going to have them eat of that, eat of that tree and have them fall, have them die spiritually. But I just wanted to, I just wanted to set the table for that. We're going to talk about this a little more, but Eve actually added to the Word of God, and I think that's the first part of religion is, or it's a religious moment, the first religious moment is that we actually had an adding to of the Word of God. So it's very important that you understand, it's important that you read the Bible, it's important that you learn the Bible, but it's important that you don't add to or subtract from. Just take it, and that's why it doesn't— you don't have to hurry through it. You can take your time through the Bible and just read it. It's not going anywhere. So just take a scripture or verse and just read through it, and then just sit there and think about it, meditate on it, and think about how that applies to your life. Well, we're going to pick this up tomorrow, but thanks again. I wanted to start the week off, wanted to get you thinking. You may have never seen this before, but Eve really did add to the Word of God., and that is where it got her in trouble. So we're going to find out tomorrow what all this means, but I wanted to start the week off, get you thinking, and get you reading. Go in there and read Genesis 2 and 3, and you can get the whole story. Thanks again, I appreciate you stopping by.
