YouTube Bible Study-How to pray for healing- Moment of Truth

A speaker shares how he prayed aloud from 1 a.m. to 5:30 a.m., invoking Jesus' 39 stripes, and woke with severe throat swelling and body aches completely gone. He grounds healing prayer in Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24, arguing that believers must speak their faith aloud to activate what Jesus already finished.

Good morning, everybody. I was going to continue my talk or my lesson on the power of words, and it's kind of similar to what I was going to talk about, but I really want to tell you what happened to me last night. And so since, since I'm talking to the phone, I guess I can do whatever I want. But last night, um, and it has to do with the scripture. My favorite scripture is Revelation 12:11, and that's, and they overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives unto the death. And I don't know, I guess that's kind of a warrior kind of scripture, you know, to where we got a little bit of fight in us, and it has to do with our testimony. And that's really what I want to give you today. I want to give you my testimony about what happened to me last night. But before I, before I do, I want to tell you a little story. These two old boys, they were sitting on the porch of this one guy's house and they're drinking a cold drink. And so they're just sitting there visiting and this old hound dog, they just, just starts moaning. He's laid up there on the porch, just starts moaning really loud. And they stop and then they go back to talking. Well, this happens 2 or 3 times and finally the old boy that's visiting says, man, what's wrong with your dog? And he said, "Oh, he just laid himself up on an old nail." And the guy looks at him and says, "Why don't he get up?" And old boy says, "Well, it don't hurt enough to make him get up. He just wants to complain about it." And so I think that's where a lot of times where I kind of live my life, you know, and you don't want to bother God with all this. You know, he's busy. He's got a lot of stuff going on, so I'm not going to bother him. I've had this hacky cough cough and a congestion in my nose for sinuses or whatever for over a week now. And it's just, it's just bothered the fire out of me. So I'm just going on my day, just dealing with it, hadn't felt well. But last night at about 1 o'clock, I woke up and the right side of my throat was just all swole up and it was hurting and I could feel that achy all over my body. And if you've ever had tonsillitis or strep throat or something. You can tell, you can tell it starts coming on you and you start feeling bad and your skin starts aching. Everything was hurting. And I woke up and I said, oh no, heck no, we're not gonna have any of this. So I started putting the stripes on, the 39 stripes that Jesus took before he went to the cross. And so I just started putting that on at 1 o'clock and I woke up again. I woke up 3 more times. Every time I was feeling worse, and I'm just, uh-uh, we're not, we're not gonna deal with it. When I wake up, I'm gonna be fine. And long story short, at 5:30, I woke up this morning, clear as a bell. No pain, no achiness. My congestion in my nose is like 100% better. My chest, I'm gonna deal with it. I'm gonna deal with it the rest of the day. But I mean, I am totally healed from where I was last night. And I just want to encourage you that Jesus said, "It is finished." And when he said that, he's done everything that he's going to do. God— and, and if, and if you really want to learn how to pray for healing, I mean, this is, this is the first step. And it, and it has to do with your words. And that's why, that's why I went ahead and told the story, because this is really— I mean, it has to do with Revelation 12:11. I mean, it I mean, Satan's a punk and he's going to come upon you and he'll do— and we tend to deal with it and we don't want to bother God. And we— I mean, all of that stuff that goes through my head, and I don't know if you deal with it too, but it— I just finally had enough, you know. And it got to a place where, you know, the heck with this. And so then I used my faith and my words and I came against it. And in, in Isaiah— and to, to talk about those stripes— Isaiah 50 I think it's 53:5, and I wrote it down in the post, but 53:5 is, you know, it talks about he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, and the chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by our stripes we are healed. And then in 1 Peter 2:24, I think, he talks about, Peter says, by our stripes we were healed, by his stripes we were healed. So I want you to look at Isaiah was like 700, 800 years before Jesus, and he's looking forward and he sees this, he sees this, these stripes that Jesus took, this beating that he took before he went to the cross, and he said, you know, by those stripes that he took, he did it and we are healed by those stripes. Well, Peter is looking back because Peter had already seen those stripes. He's seen Jesus, he saw Jesus He saw Jesus take those stripes. And so Peter, if you look at it, they're looking at the same— they're looking at the same thing, they're looking at the same beating Jesus took. But by those stripes we were healed. Peter's looking at it from past tense. Isaiah is looking for it in the present tense. He's looking at it as it— as if it's happening. But anyway, I don't want to stay too long on that because I don't want this to go too long. But I want you to just be encouraged that Jesus said, "It's finished," and that God has done, Jesus has done everything for us right now. He's not going to have to come back and do something else. He's done everything that we need to do. What we need to do is figure out how to use what Jesus did, and that's called faith. And so what we're going to do in this, you know, by the power of our words, and we're going to get around to faith. I mean, it's a huge topic, But I just want to encourage you that it works, that faith works, but you've got to have, you've got to plant it in you and you've got to believe it. In Mark 11:22-23 said, you know, have faith in God when Jesus had cursed the fig tree, but he was telling his disciples, have faith in God. If you say unto the mountain, be thou removed and cast into the sea, and do not doubt in your heart, but believe what you say, you shall have whatever it is you say. So, when Jesus, he was teaching, and like yesterday's lesson, God spoke in Genesis 1:1, he spoke everything to existence. If you'll read Mark 11:23 again and see how many times Jesus said the word, if you say, and it's talking about words. So, we have got to use our words. We can't, and I'll give you an example. Here, let me pray for you. All right, now let me pray for you. God, who Whoever's watching this, I pray in Jesus' name that you would give them the courage and the power to read your word and to take action on the word. That's a whole lot more powerful than just a silent prayer. Words have power, and we're going to learn that, we're going to dig into that, but I don't want this to go too far and too long, but you have the power inside of you that raised Jesus Christ from the dead, and it's high time we start using it. Satan's a punk and he needs his butt— he already got his butt kicked by Jesus, but, but we still got to, we still got to get after him here. And I did last night, and I want to encourage you that you can too. So if you're struggling, if you've been laid up on a nail and just whining and moaning, just go into it and start praying about those 39 stripes. Jesus took those stripes so that we could be— we could say that with faith and be healed. So Thank you again for stopping by, and I appreciate it, and I'll see you again tomorrow.
