YouTube Quick Bible Study Adam and Eve lose their Dominion

Greg Ryan argues that Adam's dominion came from having spirit, soul, and body together. When Adam sinned, his spirit died, leaving him with only soul and body, so he lost his authority to rule. Jesus' incarnation restored what Adam lost, and believers regain dominion through spiritual rebirth.
Chapters
Good morning, guys. I want to try to pull all this Adam and Eve stuff together. We talked— and I brought my low glasses back again today, I hope that helped. But we talked about the spirit, soul, and body, and then when Adam bit the fruit, his spirit man died. So he was, before, you remember, he was spirit, soul, and body, and now he's just soul and body. And you can see that because when he bit the fruit, it says that his eyes were opened. And so with his eyes opened, he now, he lost his spiritual eyes. So he has, he had spiritual eyes and physical eyes. Well, his physical eyes were closed because he was using his spiritual. Eyes. Well, he didn't have the spiritual eyes anymore, so his physical eyes were open, and so he saw that he was naked. So all of that, and I want to put that I believe that, you know, you hear that Adam lost his dominion, you know, that he gave it to Satan. Well, you know, I don't think he gave it to Satan. I think he disqualified himself, because I think to rule, and I've got a picture of all this, and I just want to give you something to think about. Because it may be, you know, maybe off a little bit, but I've been thinking about this a while. But the spirit, soul, and body, you've got to have all three to have dominion here on earth. And since Adam no longer had a spirit man, he was no longer, uh, he was no longer able to, to rule and reign here and have dominion on the earth because the spirit man was dead. Now Satan had a spirit, but he didn't have a body. See, he had to and he had to get into a body of the snakes because to have dominion and to have power here, you got to have a spirit, soul, and body. So Satan was walking around, he's a spirit, he's an angel, but he had to get into the body of a snake to then have dominion. I don't want to go too deep into all this, but Adam lost his dominion, and so he Satan was then cursed. If you see what God said in Genesis, I think it's 3:12 or 3:15 or whatever, but he then curses Satan and tells him, you know, on your belly you will crawl. But he proclaims, he proclaims a proclamation telling, you know, this Satan and Eve, you know, I will put enmity between— I think it's in 3:15— I will put enmity between you and the woman, between your seed and her seed, and he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel. And the seed— and one of the reasons, as a side note, one of the reasons I don't— I saw this— I do not capitalize Satan. I know the English teachers go crazy, but it's a proper noun. I understand that it's his name, but There's a little seed in his proclamation, and a capital Seed when he proclaims that his Seed, God, will destroy, you know, will come. So it took 2,000 years for God to come in the form of a man. He came as Jesus, the incarnate Word. The Word became flesh. We saw that in John, you know, we see that in John 1:4. But Jesus came, had to come as a man to gain back dominion. And you can see all through the Old Testament, I don't know if you ever looked at the Old Testament and wondered, you know, why they didn't talk about Satan a whole lot, or Lucifer, I mean, and actually it's Satan. But it's because God didn't have an answer for him yet, because man had given up dominion by having a, he had a dead spirit. And we'll see tomorrow, we're going to see what Nicodemus and Jesus had a conversation about the spirit. And, but it's kind of fascinating, but I just want to give you something to think about. But God, man, he gave man dominion, and then man gave up his dominion by killing off his spirit man. And since Satan had a spirit, if you'll notice, you know, you hear people about being possessed or, you know, oppressed, or whatever you want to call it, but Satan or spirit or demon has to take a body form to have any kind of power here. So I don't know if you'd ever even thought about that or pondered that. I mean, it's a pretty big deal because when Jesus came back and took the keys, you know, he took everything that Satan had stole, and he got it back. So Jesus has it all, and then he gave it back to us. So when you become born again, your spirit man comes alive, and you now have the power again, the same dominion that Adam had, you have. I mean, whether we exercise it or not, I mean, that's, that's the issue, isn't it? And so we now have the the same power that Adam had, and we just, really we just need to learn to use it. And that's why I continue to say, hey, get in this Bible, you know, figure out this stuff. And I, you know, and I'm trying to give you a picture, and what I'm trying to do is just make you think, you know. I'm not trying to start a new, you know, a new following on, you know, that how Adam fell and what it looked like and all that stuff. I mean, I'm trying to get you a picture. I got to picture things to understand it. But Adam's spirit was, is dead. And every person that's born, uh, now sin has come into the world. And in fact, I kind of, I wrote a book, it's on Amazon. I may have a link in here, but, uh, I wrote a book on what does sin look like. And, and part of what I've got to kind of picture Christianity, I've kind of got to see things to kind of understand them. So I got to mentally kind of picture them and get a picture of them. So the picture that I use is really just to kind of help me or help you understand what all this stuff is. The real, the real truth is in the Word of God. When you read it and you ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand it, I mean, that's where, that's where true freedom comes, is to know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. So what all I'm trying to do is encourage you to get in there and try to understand this thing. And I'm just trying to help you, kind of give you kind of keys, and, and kind of just kind of send you in a direction. But, you know, I mean, the way I see things is, and my wife would agree, is a little different than the way other people see things. But it's really just to help you, and it's just like a teaching tool, is to try to see things, picture them, and then get an understanding. Because once you have a picture of something, you tend to remember it better. So anyway, I just want to stop there. Spirit man is dead. And there's really no, there's no answer for Satan. The whole Old Testament talks about Satan a few times. I mean, you don't even see him mentioned because God really doesn't have an answer for him. Because he gave dominion to man who's lost it. So now you see that Satan is the prince and power of the air. He, he is the ruler here on earth. So because God didn't just destroy the earth when man fell. Satan had, he had a pretty, he had a pretty long reign for 2,000 years. But we will see that when Jesus came and the proclamation, that's when in Genesis 3:15 was a prophecy, or God's proclaiming that, hey, I'm going to send somebody to take care of this. But he had to do it, he had to do it with words. Again, we're gonna go back to words. Everything revolves around the Word of God, and he built this thing with words. So really, I mean, in just the simplest of terms, he had to speak Jesus into existence. And that's kind of where the Bible, the Old Testament, the way I kind of see it, is it was God speaking the prophecies that allowed Jesus to come to life. So I mean, I know that's either real simple or really deep, I don't know, but it's It's kind of cool when you start thinking about it, but that's why God didn't just zap himself down here. He had to hit, because the way he starts this thing and the way this thing works down here is you use your words. So I think that's enough words for me today, but I hope that kind of got you thinking and kind of, you know, got you— I mean, really, my motivation is to get you to dig into this word. But again, thanks for stopping by, and I'll, uh, I'll talk at you later.
