Youtube Quick Bible Study- Genesis God gives man dominion

God gave humans dominion over the earth through His spoken word, and we're made in His image with a three-part nature: spirit, soul, and body. Adam lost this authority at the fall but it was restored through Christ. God's words carry power human speech doesn't have.
Chapters
Good morning, everybody. I want to finish the week on a high note. We're still talking about the power of your words, and I want to go back to Genesis 1, and we're going to start at 26 through 30. This is where God gave man dominion. And what that pretty much did is he gave everything, the whole rule and reign of this earth, over to Adam and Eve, over to mankind. And so, I mean, God, we learn in Isaiah 55:8-9, he says, my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways. And it says, as the heavens are higher are above the earth, so are my thoughts above yours, and my ways above your ways. And what he's saying is, you know, I don't do things the same way you do things, and I don't think about things the way you think about things. So, I mean, God is not— I mean, here's a big news flash: God is not like you and I. I mean, now we have been built in his image, and we're going to find out in Genesis when you read it. I'm not going to read it to you. I can't. I haven't memorized Genesis. 1:26-30, but it is where, it is where he gave man dominion. He said, let's build man in our likeness. And so what, what that means to me is, is God, God is Spirit. I mean, God is Father, Son, Holy Spirit. God is a three parts, one. And we're not going to get into the Trinity, but God in, in our image means something. And he gave dominion to man, and man had a spirit, soul, and body. So he was three parts, one person, and God was three parts, one God. So anyway, we're not going to get involved in all of that right now, but, you know, I have a teaching on spirit, soul, and body, if you can believe it. But the, um, and that's a, you know, the foundational lesson here is that God used his words to give man dominion. And so, you know, you and I, you know, we probably say things. I, yeah, you know, I've just got to make a confession to make. I've lied before, got my butt kicked by my mama too for doing it. But it wasn't anything— I mean, it's something that we do as people. You may have never lied before, but I have. I try real hard not to, but it's You know, it's something that, that we as human beings, you know, we'll break our word. Well, God doesn't do that. God, that God does not lie. And he said in, in Psalms, uh, Psalm 80, I think 89:34, uh, and I can't, I can't quote it, I wrote it down in the, in the scripture, but it says that, you know, my covenant, my covenant I will keep And I will not break the words that came from my mouth, or the word that came from my mouth. So he, you know, he's going to keep— and a covenant is like a contract, and he made a contract with Adam and with man. He said, look, I made all this. God's the builder of earth, he's the creator, but he gave, he gave ownership, or if you want to say lease, he leased it out to man. And dominion. He gave dominion to man. So in order to rule and reign here on earth, you have to have a spirit, soul, and body. And we're not going to get involved in that today, but it— I mean, I just want you to be thinking about this, that man has been given dominion over this. Now, you know, we'll see at the fall where Adam bit the fruit, he, he gave up his dominion to Satan. But we'll get into that too. But needless to say, man was given dominion over earth, and Jesus came back and took the dominion back. So that's the good news. But what— excuse me— what we, what we see is that God built the whole world in Genesis with using his words. He said, let there be light, and there was light. So he created man in our own image in his own image, and then with his mouth, with his words, gave us dominion. And you know, I just want that to sink in. We're going to continue with the power of words next week, but I want that to sink in and just how, I mean, how wonderful God is. He just gave it over, all of this to us. And so most of us don't understand that, and I still, I mean, it takes me a while to kind of get a grasp of it. But we have complete and total dominion on this earth. Now whether we exercise it or not, I mean, that's a different story, but it was given to us. And so I just want you to— I want you to think about how God does things a whole lot different. And that's why it's so important to get in his word, because his word is power. His word— and it says in another psalm, I believe, that he said that he has elevated his word above his name. And I'll try to find that quote, but it says that, you know, and every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess at the name of Jesus. There's so much power in the name of Jesus, but it says that he has elevated his word above that name. So with that, that's enough for today. I just want you to chew on that, that you have power. The words that you speak are important, and the words that God speak are so much more important than we've probably given him credit for. But that's why you want to get, get in there and read your Bible. That's why you want to dig into this word. That's why I want to encourage you. That's why I'm here to encourage you. It's okay to study the Bible. It's okay to, to not understand. That's why you ask for help. I mean, and that's why I'm doing these free online, uh, Bible lessons, if you will. Or I mean, I'm just trying to, trying to get you encouraged that it's okay. To read the Bible. And you don't have to know everything, just study it and you can know something. Something's better than not knowing anything. So anyway, have a great weekend. Thanks again for stopping by, and I'll see you next week.
