YouTube Quick Bible Study What happened when Adam ate the forbidden fruit?

When Adam ate the forbidden fruit, his body and mind stayed alive but his spirit died, shifting humanity from spirit-led to spirit-dead. This created shame and the need to be born again, which explains why Jesus had to come.
Chapters
Good morning, everybody. I wanted to talk today, I want to continue the talk on Adam and Eve. And when we look in Genesis 2:25, it says they were both naked, man and the woman, and his wife, I think it says. And they were not ashamed. So they were, they were naked. And if you go back into Genesis 1:26, I believe it's where God said, let us create man in our image. And so in order to get an idea of what died, I want to talk about what died when Adam and Eve bit the fruit. To get an idea of this, God was— God's three three distinct parts, one God. He is Father, Son, Holy Spirit. And so if we're made in his image, we've got to be three distinct parts in one person. So we are spirit, soul, and body, with the soul being— I just defined the soul as our mind, will, and emotions. So I kind of got a picture, I got a picture, you know, and there's other things that you can you can see in the, you know, in the world, like the elements, you know, there's 3 different, like water is an element and it's in 3 different states. You know, you've got the gas, the liquid, and the solid state. So, I mean, we're not gonna get, but there's a pattern and it's, we're made in 3 parts. And so I've got these cups, I don't know if you're gonna be able to see them, but there's 3 distinct cups, and I've got them stacked on top of each other. But if you can picture your spirit, your soul, and your body as 3— because I like to picture stuff, and I think it'll give you a little better understanding of what actually died when Adam and Eve bit the fruit. Because when they— after they bit the fruit, and we talked about yesterday, you know, they were covered, they were naked and not ashamed. But after they bit the fruit, something died, because that's what the Word of God said. In the day that you bite of this fruit or eat of this fruit of this tree, you will surely die. Well, what died? Well, their body didn't die because they were naked. You know, their body was naked, and they tried to sew fig leaves on themselves to cover themselves. And then you see that in Genesis— I think it's— I put it in the notes, but it's Genesis 3, I think 7 through 10, where they realize, hey, we're naked. And so they try to cover themselves, and then God starts coming. And so then they— in 10, Adam said, you know, I heard your voice and I hid from you because I was naked. And they— so they were— they went from being naked and unashamed to being naked and ashamed. So what died? And so we go back to the, we go back to the spirit, soul, and body picture. And the body was naked and it was still alive. And the mind, will, and emotions, the soul, if you can picture the soul, that's the one emotion that he was afraid. So he was still cognitive. I mean, he was still alive. His soul was still alive. It was the spirit man And if you can take, if you can take the spirit man out of the equation, this is what happened, this is now, this is gone. So the spirit man is dead and so now we're, God was left with, or Adam was left with, a dead spirit and an alive soul and body. So, and it, you know, we're going to talk about tomorrow how all this ties, maybe, maybe get it all together, but it I want to keep this quick and kind of short, but just kind of get you thinking and kind of get you, you know, getting an idea of what really died. You know, because you hear, you know, you, you, uh, you've got to be born again. Well, you know, I mean it, why, why do you have to be born again? Because I mean, I'm going to teach on why, but you know, suffice it to say, when Adam bit the fruit, something died and it wasn't his body. And it wasn't his soul. So it was his spirit man that had died. And so instead of— if you, if you go back to this real quick, and I'm going to end with this, but Adam and Eve were walking. See, this is the spirit man and this soul and body. But Adam and Eve were walking in the spirit, and so the spirit man was leading. They were being spirit-led, and their body was just kind of trailing behind them. So they didn't realize— the reason they didn't realize they were naked is because they were being spirit-led. They didn't really even know that their body— I mean, they knew they had a body, I guess, but they never— they didn't consider it. So they, they went from being spirit-led to spirit-dead. And so it changed everything. And I want— I mean, I just kind of want to just set the stage for— and I'll talk to you again tomorrow about this, maybe hopefully finish up with Adam and Eve. But I just wanted to— I just wanted to get y'all thinking. I mean, because that's kind of what I do. I want y'all to just kind of ponder you know, what was going on with Adam and Eve. What, what actually happened when they bit that fruit? And you know, why did— I mean, we're going to get into why did Jesus even have to come back, so, or come here. But, uh, anyway, that should be enough for today. I don't want to drag this on, but think about it. We are, we are spirit, soul, and body, and God is Father, Son, Holy Spirit. We're built in his image, and we're going to continue this again tomorrow. But again, thanks for stopping by. I hope this kind of cleared it up. It probably didn't, but I hope it did. I hope you guys— give you something to think about anyway. And if you got any questions, you know, you can ask me in the chat, uh, you know, with comments. I try to read them and try to respond back. And you know, if you, if you like this, go ahead and go ahead and share it with some people. You know, we're connected. The body of Christ is connected. So if, if you think somebody might can benefit from, from some of these teachings, you know, I'm trying to make them short and, and try to get them to the point. I chase rabbits a lot. But anyway, like and share it, comment if you have a question or, or anything. I'll try to get back to you. Again, thanks again for stopping by.
