Watch a silversmith cast a spoon using Delft clay, pouring molten sterling silver and annealing it until it glows dark orange. Interwoven with the technical steps are lyrical verses about strangers and longing, creating an unusual blend of craft tutorial and poetic meditation.

I am still holding This annealing process is taking much longer than usual because the room temperature is a about 0 Celsius, which is 32 Fahrenheit. When the spoon glows dark orange, it's ready. It's much easier to see this in the dark. Annealing the silver spoon will reduce the hardness of the metal to make it more workable. It's left in the open air to cool down. It's freezing cold outside and takes only 5 minutes to get down to skin temperature. Because the silver is very thick at this stage, it actually takes an entire hour to cut the spoon shape out. Showing it in time-lapse mode speeds up the process. The hammering started at 8 AM in the morning. At this point, it's 8 o'clock again. Again, but in the evening, outside is pitch black.
The first snowy day, I will melt away cuz I'll be with you. Thanks for watching.
