Well, there's not much time, Bets. About a week and a day before we either head over to family and friends for Thanksgiving or we host family and friends for Thanksgiving dinner of our own.
Right. And setting the table is kind of a big deal if you're hosting and it gets a little stressful.
I'll be honest.
You want it to be a piece of art.
That's the thing. You know, you got to pin all the pictures out and all that stuff. And you want that tabletop to be beautiful, of course. To show your family how thankful that you are. Yeah.
It is a special day. Our three News style contributor Hallie Abrams is sharing some great ideas. Your Thanksgiving table, no matter your style.
I think people really just want to have a lovely experience when they're sitting at their holiday tables.
For many, Thanksgiving isn't only about the turkey. It's also about the tablescape. Frannie Ross is a sales associate at Hedges Designs in Chagrin Falls. She says you don't have to start from scratch to make things feel new.
Things should absolutely be mixed and matched. I would suggest you take out all your favorite pieces that you've used for years and put them on your counter and then set your table with your linens, your plates, and then add the new pieces together. That will make it special for you.
And the team here at Hedges put together three special tablescapes to help us get inspired. First up, a more casual option. Franny, tell me about this table. It is gorgeous.
It really is. We have our Italian linens on the bottom with the colorful fall colors. And on top, we have our Casanova, beautiful white dishes with a little scalloped accent along the ridges.
I love how you can take a plate plain white dish and then layer in these colors.
Absolutely.
To make it feel very Thanksgiving festive. This table shows it's perfectly okay to mix both fresh and faux elements.
We just put these together, and they have a lot of beautiful color and texture. But we also have in the centerpiece some artificial pieces, which also add a lot of interest with our pumpkins, which can be reused every year because those were made to last.
Frannie says another way to make things feel cozy is through lighting.
We usually have candles on tables, but this is a brilliant alternative. All you have to do is tap the top and you have lights.
Next up, if you're looking to get a little fancy this year, Frannie says formal does not have to mean stuffy.
It's very elegant and inviting, even though it's very formal.
Even if the linen doesn't perfectly fit your table, it. It still looks very intentional. It's almost like a grounding centerpiece to the table, even if you see the wood on the end. And when it comes to centerpieces, there are some important considerations to keep in mind.
But the crystal candlesticks, too, you can see through them, and they're really not intrusive. You can talk to the people across the table.
And one other thing I really noticed. Those are things I'm thankful for cards. And that really is a great conversation starter. And that's what Thanksgiving's about.
Exactly.
And, Franny, we can't forget about the kids table. Everything here is kid proof and meant to be touched.
So we really wanted this to be a welcoming, fun center for kids to come and sit at so their parents don't have to worry about them breaking or spilling anything so they can enjoy the day, too.
You can even incorporate some crafts into the table.
Design these little hats that you can wear, which are absolutely adorable. I have to try one on and show it to you because it's my favorite part of the kids table. Cute. Even if I was at the adult table, I would be wearing this.
So from festive to formal to fun, there's a little something for everyone. Franny, thank you so much for your time and for all the wonderful holiday inspiration. I encourage people to come to Chagrin Falls and to visit you guys.
Oh, please do. We are happy to help you here.
