Creative Halloween costume ideas from items you already have in your closet

This is a TV/YouTube segment (studio demo) where style contributor Hallie Abrams shows easy Halloween costume ideas made from items commonly found in viewers' closets. The segment walks through examples from families and individuals — e.g., Clark Kent (suit + Superman shirt), Ted Lasso (tracksuit + visor + whistle), the Brawny man (flannel + drawn scruff), Queen's Gambit (retro dress + red wig + chessboard), a bachelorette/beauty-queen dress idea, and kids' costumes (bunny, Rosie the Riveter, lobster, chef/apron). The piece emphasizes low-cost, last-minute, and eco-friendly approaches and points viewers to the WKYC website for a fuller list of ideas.

We officially just have 11 days to go until Halloween. Crazy3New Style contributor Hallie Abrams is here. You have some fantastic kids to show us and adults.
Yep.
And these are costumes that literally you can find in your closet.
That's literally what we did. We actually talked, and I was like, okay, what do you got in your closet? And we made costumes out of it, so.
And look at this. Okay.
Yeah. This is awesome.
So first we have Leon Bibbs family, which we are so happy to have them here. His daughter, son in law, grandchildren. This is amazing. Alison, Ron, Jack, tell us all about your costumes.
Well, we found this in our closet, and with the help, of course, Ms. Abrams and our great stylist in the back, Haley, we have Clark Kent. I just put together my own suit. The cool action suit, by the way, coolactionsuit.com I love it. And just added a Superman shirt to it.
This is so easy. This is what we did, right? We went through with each of them. Ron had a suit. I was like, what do you got? He's like, I got a suit. I'm like, ok, we're gonna find glasses and a Superman shirt. And you're Clark Kent. Right. Rory had a tracksuit. We did have to get the mustache. She did not come with a mustache.
That's hilarious.
That's Ted Lasso.
Right?
A visor. The tracksuit. The whistle. Easy.
Pants on a regular. Wears the pants on a regular basis. Perfect.
Yeah. And then Jack had this flannel, so I was like, awesome. Let's make him the brawny man.
So good.
The brawny man. And then Haley, the makeup artist, was able to put the scruff on. It looks very real. You're gonna have to go home and shave. And then last but not least, we have Alison, who had this great retro dress. And we're like, okay, let's make it the queen's gambit. We have. You know, this is a magnetic chess set so it doesn't move around the red wig. And boom.
Amazing. I love it. Okay, you guys look great. Let's come on over because Monique Zappa. I know she looks like a beauty queen because she is. She's our what's new producer.
Yes.
And what is she?
Okay, well, do you taint this rose?
I would say the bachelorette.
Yes. So how many women have a ton of bridesmaids dresses in there?
Right?
It's ridiculous, right?
So that's it. That is the easiest. One, two, three, boom. We just glammed up her makeup. She's gorgeous to begin with, but, like, she had probably how many five, 10 dresses that you could pick from. Not 27.
Not 27, but.
Right. And get a rose at the grocery store. And that's your costume. Easy. You don't have to plan ahead, really. Which is the beauty of this. It's economical. It's good for the environment. And if someone asks you to go out to Halloween last minute, you didn't plan. You got some of these things there.
Easy and timely. Okay, let's go. You look so good, Mo.
You look so great.
Let's go on to the Maloney girls. Madeline and Olivia, their dad, Ryan, he works in our engineering department. They look so cute.
They are so cute. Right? So same thing we talked with mom about. What do they have in their closet? And Madeline had pink head to toe. So we're like, okay, what can we do? And she had an Easter basket that is actually her Easter basket from Easter. So, yeah, bunny ears. And if you're crafty, you could make your own bunny ears. I'm not that crafty. I got it from Amazon. It was delivered overnight.
Smart, smart, smart. And we have one more guest. Oh, Jim's bringing him in. Oh, yes. No, first Olivia.
And Olivia. Because Olivia's roasting the riveter. So cute.
And the eggs.
And the eggs. And then the last surprise we have is your baby.
Here he comes.
Wow, bubbas, you're a lobster.
Look at this little lobster.
Oh, and I have an apron, right? So I have this. You know, you can use an apron.
Yeah.
I'm learning from you, Hallie. You can put an apron, you know, any old apron, you have a secondhand costume, like the lobster. Jim, I'm gonna get you a chef hat.
All right.
Thank you.
And here we are.
He is doing great. And it's Betty buy time, too.
Oh. End time at 7 o'. Clock.
16 minutes past Betty buy time.
Yes. You know, now you know his schedule.
Thank you.
Now, these are great costumes. It's really easy. Find what you have in your closet. You don't have to spend a lot of money. And everybody looks so good.
