Hallie Abrams shares a homemade wrinkle-release spray for linen: one cup distilled water, a tablespoon white vinegar, ten drops lemon essential oil, and optional aloe vera gel or hair conditioner. Spray it on, hang to dry, and skip the iron. Linen's wrinkles are authentic, not a flaw.

Can we talk about linen? Because people have like this love-hate relationship with it. I happen to love linen. It's cool, it's easy, it's modern, it's current, it's trendy or trending. But some people hate that it wrinkles, and I kind of get it because I don't want to look sloppy. But that's kind of inherent to the fabric. That's the beauty of it. It's like having a copper roof, like, and not wanting it to to patina and turn green. That's what shows you it's real. If it's not wrinkling, it's kind of fake, but you don't want it to be like a wrinkly, wrinkly mess. So what do you do? Do not iron it. Do not iron it. Do not starch it. It will look fake. So if you cannot fully embrace the wrinkle and just want a, like, a relaxant, there's a spray and it helps relax the fabric so it doesn't look as wrinkly. Think of it as keratin for your hair but for your pants. You could use Downy Wrinkle Release, like you could, but I don't love all the chemicals, and if I can make it with stuff I have at home, I'd rather. So this is what we're going to do. I take a bottle, distilled water. You don't want tap water because it can leave minerals on your clothing. So you're going to do about a cup of this. Then distilled white vinegar, about a tablespoon of it. And then I like to use, um, essential oils. I'm feeling like lemon works for warm weather, 10 drops. If you want, you can put aloe vera in because that is literally like a conditioner. I like using aloe vera, I just don't have it today. You also can use a bit of hair conditioner because it has the same effect, but I think this just works fine. Shake it up, baby, shake it up. It just helps relax it. That's what it does. And I don't even think these are that wrinkly. Tbh. So yeah, I would just let them dry, hang and dry. If it really bugs you, like a certain part, you can, um, like pull it, you know what I mean? Like help smooth it out with your hands. So it's like a hair relaxer but for your linen, right? Yeah, you got it.
