Hey, welcome back home, everybody, to Front Row Friday.
After a cold, long winter, many of us are looking to spice things up in our spring wardrobes. I know I am definitely falls in that category. As it turns out, one of the biggest trends this season is all about having fun with color. So I met up with three new Style contributor Hallie Abrams at Dillard's in Beechwood today to talk about this bright and bold new trend.
Looking around any store, it's not black, white, and gray anymore. There is color.
Forget those muted tones this spring, wear the rainbow.
They're calling it dopamine dressing because the idea is that after what we've all been through the past 24 months, everyone is ready for a shot of the happy hormone. Dressing in color really does that.
3 News style contributor Hallie Abrams has it covered, no matter the occasion or your color comfort zone.
I always joke it's sort of like salsa. Mild, medium, or spicy. And how comfortable are you?
First, let's get dressed up in a bold blue.
I love the idea of a formal dress that is not black. It is just this beautiful blue. We made it even a little more dopamine with a rainbow earring and a rainbow clutch. Again, that's not in your comfort level. You don't need to go over the top of the dress on its own. Works well.
Halle says asymmetrical styles can be a versatile choice.
You don't feel like you're showing too much skin, but it allows you to show leg and a shoulder.
Next up, Halle says floral prints are an easy way to dip your toe into the trend.
The leaf looks so gorgeous in this floral. Not the boldest color, right? This one is a little less bold, but the orange pops and I like the idea of adding this rubber bag in orange with it. You could wear this on the beach and and you could also pair it with a clutch and wear it to a wedding.
Halle says a nude shoe is a flattering fail safe choice to balance out any level of bright. Just be sure to choose a match for your skin tone.
There are all different nudes the same way. We all come in all different colors. So trying to find one that really is a good match for your skin tone is great.
Another great way to look current, adding.
Color to the oversized power suiting trend.
A little bit of a bolder shoulder without being totally working Girl Melanie Griffith, where it looks professional and you can break the pieces apart. The great thing about a suit is she could wear this jacket over a little floral skirt or a pair of black pants and it would be great. The pants alone would be wonderful. With a little sweater, even something like what I'm wearing. And that way you get sort of three outfits in one.
So I love how you just did a white cami underneath. Keep it simple, but this sort of fills up the space.
That's the word I was going to use. I have taught you so well, Sarah. By filling up the space, it makes it not feel as low cut, but you're still showing enough skin. You know, there needs to be a balance.
And if you feel like going bold in a smaller way, try an accessory.
A purse, a shoe, a necklace, an earring. It's a great way where you can wear other things you're comfortable with and then incorporate that little bit of color. Or you can do what the outfit I'm wearing is. It's all done for you. It's turnkey. Put it on and go.
There's a way for everyone brighten up their spring.
I am a big believer of what lights you up. Tuning in to sort of that inner voice of what you are attracted to and drawn to is the first place to start.
And speaking of fashion, we need your help. National nurses week starts May 6, and along with Hallie, we would like to help a deserving nurse feel special so you can nominate an outstanding nurse in your life. Send an email with a photo to 3News makeovers@wkyc.com don't forget to include where they work and where they live. And you've got until April 13th to submit those nominations. They must be available to film the day of April 19th.
