Coming on here today with a towel on my head. But I want to tell you about a really exciting new gadget I got. It is the Dyson Airwrap Complete. I have really thick hair that is so somewhat curly. And I have to be honest, I've been the kind of girl that gets a blow dry once a week like a grandma, and I've always loved that. But then with quarantine, I realized that I am really not capable of doing my hair. I can do it where I just like leave it curly, but that sort of is weather dependent. Like, it has to be the right humidity and the right dryness and all that kind of stuff. And a little bit of like beach makes it better. So I've always wanted to be able to blow dry my hair and not add a ton of chemicals and also not burn it and fry it. And over quarantine I had gotten. And I was really excited about this Revlon dryer and it worked. But I was not that healthy for my hair. I have to be honest. Like, after a few times, I realized I really was like, burning it and then on top of it, I would need to go over it with a flat iron. So all in all, it wasn't great. So I started reading reviews for this Dyson Airwrap Complete. And because of the Dyson technology, I thought it uses like, ions or something and it would work. So. So I tried it one day last week and it was amazing. Like, actually so good that I canceled a blow dry and showed it to Nick who does my hair. And he was like, this is good. So I'm going to take you through today and sort of show you how it works. It is like a serious whole system. So let me show you sort of what it entails. Okay, so now I feel a little more like me because I have my glasses on and I can see. But let me show you how beautiful this is. I mean, it comes in this, like, gorgeous leather case. It has a magnetized closure. Beautiful. Like totally beautiful. And there are all these different pieces and parts to it. So it starts with like the wand. And the wand has different attachments depending on what you want to do. So there is a like, general hair dryer part just to like rough dry your hair. Then there are a few different brush attachments. I have not found these to be super useful. I used one of them to sort of get up near the roots, but it was not even really necessary, to be honest. And then there are two different sized barrels and each of them have arrows on them because they are supposed to go on different sides of your hair. So again, depending on the kind of curl you want, you usually want the arrow to be facing from your ear backwards. So yeah, I mean, just gorgeous. I'm not sure how I'm really going to take this on vacation with me, but I'm thinking you could take like just that piece and like those are the two that I use the most. So just a thought. Your hair needs to be somewhat dry in order to do it. And I think that's part of what helps it not get too burnt. So here we go.
Okay.
So typically when I do my hair put a like a deep conditioner in it in the shower. I have to take my glasses off so I don't get like spray stuff all over it. I like to use like a protectant spray just to help it stay healthy and also smooth. I think it helps it not get super frizzy. And then I use like frizzy's oil. That's probably like. If you're a real like hair person, you're probably like crazy cringing at the fact that I use 10 pumps of John Frieda. But I do find that it sort of like works the best for me and it doesn't. There's sort of like no smell to it. Sometimes some of those have such a smell that it like, I don't know, I don't enjoy I guess is what I would say.
So that's that.
I also feel like a good. When I'm wearing it straight and not curly, I like to brush the product through it. I also think it helps in this partial drying process. The other piece I would say is really important to have are like clips.
To section off your hair once.
You'Re doing like the final drying part. So for me I like to use. These kind of clips, you know, like the. I think those hold my hair personally the best. But okay, it's a really easy like you click it on and then there's like on and off your fan and your heat.
It's 2:37. So I just want to look at that because I'm curious how much time this takes. I would say that when I'm at the salon and like a professional is.
Doing.
Takes a 40 to 45 minutes to blow dry my hair just for like a benchmark. If someone has done it a lot and they have like a really good method, I would say they might be able to get it done in 30 minutes. But for sure when I go to the salon and like normally would be a 30 minute time slot they always make me take a little more time. So just a frame of reference. The other nice thing is that this is pretty lightweight, but I don't know if any of you get like tired arms from doing hair, but this is generally, like, not that heavy, which I think is a lovely, lovely thing about it.
That's sort of like the front bangs piece. That's the part I do last, like the face frame. The other nice thing about this is to get the curl, I do not need to use any sort of like curling iron or flat iron or anything like that. So it is making me have to use less heat things on my hair, which I like. Okay, so now let's see if this even works.
Oh, it does.
Okay, so now that I've already used this, there's an easy, like, on, off, or like to flip it off switch there.
And then.
I like to use the big barrels. And I like. I'm doing this side. I want the barrels that face away. So that's sort of. It just clicks in place. And when you're doing the curl, you want to make sure that both of these switches are up. And then let's see. Shall we start at the beginning? So they say it's like a 4 inch section. I think it's like this.
And the crazy thing is it, like, Although I'm doing the wrong way, I think I just switched to the other side.
See, it makes a nice curl, though. So. And again, I don't mind switching different ways, but let's see what happens with this one.
So literally, you put the hair there and it sort of like automatically, like wraps itself around. I like to go in and out a bit, only because, again, my hair is curly and I think it helps make it straighter. But there's lots of nice bounce that ends up happening.
Put those other ones on it.
And then there's a cool shot that I'm doing now by putting the, the switch up so it like cools the curl. And then.
Now that is a serious, like, Nelly Olsen from Little House on the Prairie curl. But it will calm down as time goes on. So. And it will also help last like a week or more. So let's literally I will go around my head and do this everywhere. And if there's like a piece here I missed, I'll put it in the next section. So it's literally going through section by section. If you do not have as much hair as me, you will be lucky because it'll go really, really quickly for you. I also like to brush it a little bit before because I think it.
Helps the curls be smooth.
Okay, so now not too hot. Switching out the section for the other side. And I'm still using, like, the big barrels 3:11. So getting close to the time. And like, after I sleep on it, if I need to, I can just take a couple sections, like a few minuscule pieces and do this, and it will help it sort of refresh. I haven't had last week. I did not have a huge need to do that. Okay, there you go. So this is my last step. I take a little oil, like one squirt, and I rub it really well through my hands and just sort of comb it through everything so that it doesn't get dried out and it has little shine. And it also helps.
Make some of.
The curls not quite as far a faucet bouncy and. Yeah, so. And I feel more like myself because I can actually see with my glasses on. But anyway, I hope that this was helpful. I hope if you have super crazy thick hair and are concerned about doing your own blow dry, you think this piece is as miraculous as I do. I'm gonna call it my new best friend, and I'll put links below if you want to get your own.
