A short TV-style segment (Fashion Friday) where Kiara Cotton and style contributor Hallie Abrams showcase summer accessory trends and offer styling tips. They demonstrate items at Ladder in the Van Aken district (store), show pieces for both men and women, and highlight: bucket hats (Stussy), bandanas/scarves, sunglasses (Goodr brand sold at Luster, $24), handmade/sustainable bags and locally made earrings (approx. $38). The piece emphasizes bright colors, woven/crafty handmade looks, and simple rules for balancing accessory “zones.”

All right, now it's time for a little style inspiration. And today's Fashion Friday. We're focusing on accessories from jewelry to hats. And it's an easy way to really jazz up your look. But what trends do we really need to know about our care? Cotton as the scoop.
The really cool thing about accessories is they are the frosting on the cake, the ribbon on the present. You can have a really basic outfit. White T shirt and jeans and whatever accessories you put on those all make the outfit.
3News. Style contributor Hallie Abrams says accessories are an easy and inexpensive way to update your wardrobe. And there are a few key trends to look out for this season.
Bright colors both for men and women, things that are woven again for men and women, things that are crafty and somewhat handmade. And of course for some are hats, bucket hats, and baseball hats.
We met up at Ladder in the Van Aken district for some tips. And we're trying on some things today. But first, we're going to get the male perspective. So you have a friend that can help us out with that, right?
Absolutely. Because the trends are both for men and women, in most cases, it just gets interpreted a little differently.
Our first trend throws it back to the 90s.
Emmett is wearing one of the great trends, which is a bucket hat. Okay. That can work for everybody. They're super cool. They shade your face. And this one is by, you knew the brand.
Stussy.
Stussy. Yeah. So it's super cool. It's from exhibition and it's $50 neck wear. Bandanas are a big trend. Bandanas and scarves, you're gonna see that coming in the fall. Also. It's not just for summer.
It adds a little something so multi purpose. We can get bang for our buck with that one.
Bang for your buck. And you can do like an old school bandana, too. But I do think it needs, from a guy perspective, a guy that's a little more fast and forward probably to carry it off.
I don't think, like, you're gonna have a little style. Ladies can have plenty of fun with this trend, too. I got to try it out with this Claire V Style from Double Rainbow.
I love tying it in your hair, how we did it. I like it when people can wear it as a head, whether it's this way or this way. And then one of my favorites, if you don't want to wear it on your body, tie it on your bag.
Oh, I love it.
It can be little and simple. You can tie it in a knot and it just adds A little bit of panache.
Another way to show some personality is through your eyewear.
Sunglasses are also a really, really cool way to add some pop with your accessory game. These that Emmett are wearing are from Luster, which is also at Van Aken, and they have a really cool backstory. So they're by a brand called Goodr, and they were originally made for runners and athletes. They're super lightweight. They have grip on the back so they don't fall down when you get sweaty. And they're $24.
Another big trend you can even feel good about. Sustainable styles, a specialty here at Ladder.
This bag falls into that handmade category we were talking about. It's handmade in Guatemala, and it really has this cool stripe in the leather, and I like that it has a little wristlet. So when you're going out, if you don't want to carry your bag under your arm, it's just easy peas. They also have the earrings that you're wearing, which are so cool. They're light, they're bright, and they make a big impact. And those also are locally made and handmade. And I want to say they're in the $38 range.
Okay, awesome. But when it comes to piling on all the accessories, Halle does have some style guidance to keep in mind.
My one general rule when I speak and this is more to women, is if think of it as zone. So your earring and your earrings and your necklace are a zone, and your hand and wrist are a zone. So if you're doing big earrings, maybe do a more subtle. More subtle. Or no necklace. If you're doing a big cocktail ring, maybe do less bracelets. But again, if you feel comfortable in it, I say go for it.
