How to tie a sweater!

Hallie Abrams shows three ways to wear a sweater without it taking over your outfit: draped over shoulders for an editorial look, tied loosely for a relaxed layer, or wrapped around your waist like a belt, especially with dresses for color blocking.

I don't know about you, but like sometimes I'm hot and sometimes I'm cold, and my thermostat's all over the place. So I always like to have a sweater in case I'm cold, or that I can take off. But then it's like, how do you carry the sweater? Do you just carry it with you? Do you wear it? Do you not? There are 3 ways I like to style, uh, like a sweater so it's like part of the outfit but not part of the outfit, but you know what I mean. Okay, one, I would call this like editorial style. Or like librarian style. My librarian growing up that used to read James and the Giant Peach to us would wear her sweaters this way. But you're wearing it over, it's keeping you warm, but it's not like you're not really wearing it wearing it, right? That's option 1. Option 2, I gotta button it up, hold on. Okay, so then another, which we've done a lot, right, is just over the shoulder. Get it? Got it? Fine, we're good. You can keep it open, you can tie it, that kind of thing. This is the third one that I've been seeing lately, and I've kind of been using it, and I like it. Okay, so you fold it similarly to if you're wearing it over your shoulders, meaning at the armpit you're sort of folding it over, then taking it around you, but you're not tying it like— remember when we were in college and we didn't want to show our tush, that kind of thing? It's not that. You're tying it, you're using it as a belt to sort of create— I've been doing it more with dresses, to be honest, so I'm curious how it looks with this. I think it needs a little bit of— yeah, this isn't working with this outfit. It's not working, I will tell you. But it's kind of like this. It almost needs something out and over, like a bigger button-up that it goes around. I'm going to try it with something else. That's how I would do it. I still like it with the dress best, but with this I think it's like kind of cute, and it takes something that's a little wider and has it feel a little more like snatched. So I love the dress on its own, but if it feels like too much, or even if it's a solid dress, you can sort of like color block it that way. I think it's like kind of cool. You can tie it. Sometimes I just tie it once, but if I feel like it's going to slip, I tie it twice. Yeah, what do you guys think?
