Shoe style tip!

Hallie Abrams shows how shoe thickness changes the way wide track pants break at the hem. A chunky Frida Salvador sneaker creates multiple folds, while a slimmer shoe gives a cleaner half-break. She prefers the subtler look but says choose what feels best.

Here's a little style tip coming at you, and it has to do with shoes. And I know you guys love it when we talk about shoes, and in particular it has to do with sneakers and comfortable pants, so you're going to like it even more. As I was putting this outfit together and I was trying on different shoes and thought that this was an important thing to point out. So first of all, kind of obsessed with these track pants from Daydreamer. They're super soft. The shirt's from them too. I've worn this jacket before. Great, cute, adorable outfit, right? But let's talk about the shoes, and both are great shoes. I love both of them. This is Frida Salvador, and I love it because it's a sneaker but it has fur and it has a cutout. So it's— I kind of think it's like being in a convertible with the heat on, do you know what I mean? Like, I love that feeling. So it's great, and it's a great white sneaker. However, This is a newer shoe. It's a lower profile, you know, kind of look. And in theory, I would have thought this shoe was too delicate for the fit of the wider track pants and that whole thing, but it's not. I actually like this better than this. Not meaning I don't like this shoe. I like this shoe with a lot of other things. But it's a very subtle difference. Let me see, see if I can show you. Do you see how with this shoe, because it's a little bit of a thicker shoe, like a heftier shoe, there's much more break on this side than there is on this side, right? It took a second. Like, I showed my husband, I'm like, which one do you like better? And he was like, I don't know, I think they both look good. And I'm like, do you see this difference? He's like, oh, now I can't unsee it. And you might not be able to unsee this either. But do you see that? Do you see how this just sort of like it's straight and there's just a half break, but for some reason this one has like a break and a half or two breaks? I like this look better. Now, would it be wrong if you did this? No, it would not. And the shoe's great, and if this is a more comfortable shoe for you, you should wear it that way. But this is sort of a newer iteration of sneaker that I'm getting used to and trying to figure out how I'm wearing it so then I can help my clients figure out how they're wearing it. And I was very pleasantly surprised to see how much I liked it with this sort of casual, colorful vibe. Um, yeah, so I just wanted to point that out. There we go. So that's a little style tip for you.
