Short YouTube wardrobe-consulting clip by Hallie Abrams explaining when to tuck or untuck sweaters and shirts. She demonstrates a partial front tuck and leaving the back out, notes that front tucks can fail if garments are too long, and explains that a sweater hitting the hip bone can be worn untucked while still suggesting waist proportion.

To tuck or not to tuck? That is the question. No, I am not Shakespeare, but I'm Hallie Abrams, the wardrobe consultant, and I've heard from so many of you that you're like, I want to tuck my shirts. I don't like how it looks. I have a belly. I have a menopause belly. I don't know what to do. Everyone's telling me, talk. I don't like to talk. Blah, blah, blah. Okay. To talk or not to talk. It's really your choice. Let me show you. Okay, so this sweater, great. I love it. I tucked a little bit, right? And then I let it hang out the back. The front tuck is not dead. It is dead. If your sweater or your shirt is too long, then it sort of, like, hugs your tush, and that's not attractive. But the way this is working totally works. However, it also looks really nice untucked, and that is because this sweater, which I love, it's like, just the perfect weight, and I love the color and the brightness and all that. It hits just about at my hip bone, right? So I can wear it untucked, and it totally works. And it still gives that proportion as if you're kind of tucking, but you still have the comfort of, you know, a little coverage here. And you can also tuck it in a little bit, and it looks cute and gives even a little more waist definition. Did you like it? Did that help? Did it not help? Let me know.
