Short YouTube interview segment (May 17, 2021) about 2021 swimsuit trends featuring Hallie Abrams. Covers current swimwear styles (asymmetry, "floss" crisscross details, long-sleeve rash guards with bikini bottoms, mix-and-match solids), notes one-pieces and tankinis remain popular but harder to find, gives brand recommendations (Target, Athleta, Somersault, Everlane, Eloquii), and practical tips (highlight what you like, tailor suits, cover-ups are in).
For many of you, the past year has meant comfy clothes, pajama pants, comfort foods. Right? And it may be gaining a few pounds in the process of all of that. This mom minute Monday, we are getting real about swimsuit season. I talked to Hallie Abrams about the top trends of 2021 and how to rock your swimwear with confidence.
We're talking bathing suits today and many of us have been living in pajama pants for the past year. Plus, so tell us what trends are in right now for moms. So there are a few trends that I've seen happening in swimwear. Asymmetry is big. A lot of one shoulder and then the other thing that again, we're seeing in fashion and I'm seeing in bathing suits is this floss trend. There's an additional string that sort of wraps around and crisscross crosses in your abdomen. So it's sort of hip and cool to have a long sleeve rash guard and sort of that long sleeve swim shirt with a bikini bottom. Mix and match tops and bottoms, but in solids. So it doesn't necessarily need to be a match set, which is great for people that are different sizes on the tops and bottoms. So really the key is highlighting the stuff you like and sort of downplaying the stuff that you're self conscious about, AKA hiding it.
So that's really important, Halle says, to find the style that works for you.
And some of Halle's favorite brands for swimwear. If you want to go to a physical store, she loves Target and Athleta. If you want to shop online, Somersault, Everlane and Eloquii are her picks. So Halle also says one pieces and tankinis are still very much in but are already getting hard to to find, even online. January. So if you find something that you love but the fit is slightly off, bathing suits, just like anything else, can be tailored.
All right, that's good to know because I will just be wearing a sheath because I still have 30 pounds of baby weight to lose. Girl, don't nobody want to see this. Oh, well, guess what? Cover ups are also in. We didn't get to that part because it didn't fit in the minute, but cover ups are still in. That's the next package and they look really great. That's right. Put a whole T shirt on at this point. Why can't we just do pajama pants and a tankini top on the beach? Thank you, Holly. Thank you. Start our own trend. Trendsetters.
