This YouTube fashion segment (Fashion Friday) features wardrobe consultant Hallie Abrams demonstrating how to transition summer clothes into fall looks. Key guidance in this chunk: wearing white after Labor Day is acceptable; convert a summer white dress into a fall outfit by adding a chunky sweater, leather booties, and a textured autumnal bag; turn summer shorts into fall outfits by pairing with high 1970s-style boots and a chunky turtleneck; and adapt white jeans with a kimono by swapping a tank for a thin long-sleeve turtleneck and adding a chunky, weatherproof lug-sole bootie.

All right, everybody, it is Fashion Friday. Not only is it Friday, but it's Fashion Friday and weather is changing. And that means it's time to break out the boots and scarves. But that doesn't mean we have to put our summer clothes away just yet. Hallie Abrams, the wardrobe consultant, shares some new ways to wear our summer favorites this fall.
So the first question I am always, always asked about summer to fall dressing is if you can wear white after Labor Day. The answer is a big yes. But there are a few tricks that we can apply. So, for example, this little white dress that I am wearing has been a staple of mine all summer. When I was wearing it in the summer, however, I was wearing it with a pair of sandals and a straw hat. I'm taking the exact same dress and transitioning it for fall by adding a chunky sweater. Additionally, I paired it with a pair of leather booties. And then again, I added a bag that has a little texture to it and is in more autumn colors. Another way we can transition our summer pieces into fall is by adding again, shoes and a sweater. So these are shorts. But instead of wearing it with a silky summer top and a pair of sandals, to transition it for fall, I put it on with a really high, sort of 70s inspired boot and then a chunky turtleneck that I tucked in at the front. Another tried and true summer outfit is white jeans and a kimono. Again, there are a few easy ways that it can be changed up in order to take it from summer to fall. Quick change. Instead of the tank top, I put on a really thin long sleeve turtleneck. Same kimono, same jeans. But I changed out the shoes to like a really cool chunky lug sole bootie that actually is weatherproof. And all of a sudden the entire outfit feels a little more.
