Rich dad, poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki. When I was 13 years old, most people that watch my stuff know that he's very close. Dear personal friend of mine now, which I never could have imagined when I was 13 years old reading his book. So Robert has the ability to break down such complex financial topics into third grade ideas that billions of people can understand. I was 13 years old and I understood it. I was like, oh, assets, put money in your pocket. Liabilities, take money out of my pocket. My goal is to build assets so I don't have to be a slave and work for money and I can make money in my sleep and I can have financial freedom and I can live a life that I want to live. I was like, I don't really need any more information than that. I'm going to do that. That sounds really good. And then you know the entrepreneurship piece, which is mind your own business. Like you want control over your life and your business and your ability to produce. And Robert teaches me the three most important skills that his rich dad taught him were capital raising, public speaking and sales. If you have those three skills, you can really create anything. And so reading that book, I decided I'm going to be a real estate investor. I my license at 18, started selling real estate as a broker. My first deal was a commercial sale. My second deal was a luxury sale. Bought my first property at 18, lived in it, renovated it, bought another one with my real estate commissions, rented the other one out as an Airbnb. I was doing that while I was an engineer. That was a great experience and I absolutely loved it. I also learned from that job is I have zero control over my income, zero control over taxes. I didn't really see a path to freedom even as a high paid engineer. Freedom has been the foundation of every decision I ever made make in my life.
