Heather Hester hosts a conversation on positive masculinity and parenting LGBTQ teens. The speakers stress curiosity over judgment, creating safe spaces, and personal growth. They argue for thriving in family relationships rather than just surviving them.
I met other people that were LGBTQ+ in the world, and that let me know that I wasn't the only one. I wasn't alone, right? It's about us finding that path to be true to ourselves, whoever that is.
The idea of being curious instead of judgmental, right?
I try to create places, safe places for us to have conversations so that people can see, hey, we're all just human and we're all just trying to figure this out, and none of us have all the answers. So let's give each other a little grace along this journey.
In being curious, a lot of times that will bring— it's going to bring up feelings and they're going to be uncomfortable, and that's okay.
Push through because I wanted to grow. I wanted to have a better life. I want better relationships in my life, you know. I want to thrive. Not just survive.
