In this video, I'm going to walk you through the exact steps you need to transform your relationship with your LGBTQ child with optimism and without fear. Focus in for the next 5 to 10 minutes because you'll want to take some notes. In the last 3 videos, I talked about the Pillars of Transformation. I shared how they help you understand what your child is processing, know how to best support them, and to ultimately transform your relationship with them with optimism and without fear. I also shared two tools and techniques for getting started, including my VAST technique. If you haven't watched the first three videos yet, make sure you do right now because they are filled with super helpful and practical information that will empower you and help you empower your child. So with that being said, let's jump into the Pillars of Transformation. There are 4, and intentionally so, as 4 solid pillars can balance, withstand the weight of just about anything. In the second video, I highlighted the first pillar to embrace. The idea of embracing is not just physical, even though as a hugger I cannot emphasize enough the power of a good hug. To embrace is to mentally, emotionally, and spiritually wrap yourself around whatever the issue and the person or people involved. This allows you, or forces you in some cases, to be present. Being present is important for so many reasons. The two most important are it signals to your brain to focus and to take note of all verbal and nonverbal information. It lets the person you are with know that you see them and you hear them. The second pillar is to educate. This one is a bit more straightforward. Open your mind to the possibilities. Remember, the ultimate goal is understanding, and to do so, we must become educated. Many people struggle with shifting their mindset as they learn new information. Steve and I both did. However, I want you to remember this very important thought. Evolution and growth are part of life. Shifting your thinking does not mean you are abandoning your core beliefs. In most cases, the shifts actually help you align even more to your authentic self. The third pillar is to empower. I love that empower is both a noun and a verb. To empower in the sense of supporting your child and giving them a strong home base so that they feel confident going out into the world. To be empowered in the sense of taking care of yourself in ways that fill your cup and give you strength to be the very best version of yourself. One reason being the very best version of yourself is important is because Only then can you give full attention to the needs of those around you as well as your own. The fourth pillar is to love unconditionally. It may seem ridiculous that I have to say this, but unconditional love is love without conditions. Love no matter what. Love through good, bad, messy, beautiful. This one is much harder than it seems on the surface, but offering it to those you love and to yourself is perhaps the greatest gift you can give. So many details, resources, how-tos, and literal handholding will be available with my upcoming course, Learning to Just Breathe. I hope you can join me because I cannot wait to share this information. Make sure you click on the link below to put your name on the early bird waiting list. Everyone on the early bird waiting list will get access to registration one day before the public. In the next video, I will share a specific example of how the pillars work in a real life situation. It is awesome information and I don't want you to miss it. See you soon.
