Heather Aardema suggests a decluttering trick: look at an item without touching it and ask if it feels light or heavy. Light means keep it. Heavy means it carries baggage and might be clutter worth examining.

One of my favorite tips when it comes to decluttering is the following. Let's say you have a shirt and you're not sure whether you should get rid of it or not. Look at the shirt. Don't touch it because if you touch it, that creates an emotional bond. Look at the shirt.
And say, does.
This shirt.
Feel light or heavy?
If the shirt.
Feels light, it's not clutter.
You keep it. If it feels.
Heavy, you know that.
There'S a story there.
You know that you've.
Created some kind of complicated.
Meaning that.
Is optional. And so when something feels.
Light, it's.
A heck yes.
And you know you want it.
When it feels.
Heavy, it means that.
It'S clutter and you can get curious.
About it and.
Figure out why it's feeling heavy.
Why?
What's the story that you're holding onto that's probably not doing you any good? You can choose to make a change.
