It is a single-speaker personal talk/presentation in which the speaker, drawing from a functional medicine perspective, discusses minimalism and self-care. They outline the five modifiable lifestyle factors (exercise/movement, nutrition, relationships, sleep/relaxation and stress transformation) and share practical, non-cluttering items that support wellbeing: a five-minute gratitude journal, stainless-steel mug and water container, daily raw apple cider vinegar in water and hydration guidance, non-toxic cleaning solutions, using the library rather than buying books, a squatty potty for better toilet ergonomics, and an acupressure/"accusweed" mat. The speaker emphasizes keeping only items that positively impact health and happiness and removing the rest as clutter.

Hi everybody. Welcome to today's Boost. I am at my happiest when I'm living a simple life. This means I'm constantly trying to get rid of clutter. Emotional, mental and physical clutter. There are so many things outside of our control. So I try to focus on the things that I can control. In the functional medicine world, we call these the five modifiable lifestyle factors. What are they? You probably can guess at this point. Exercise and movement, Nutrition relationships, Sleep and relaxation and stress transformation. I'm going to share a few of my favorite products with you today. These products don't represent clutter to me. Instead they help me with my self care which is imperative for that stress transformation to occur. So, so what are they? Here are a few of the things that I would not want to live without. We're going to start off with what I do in the morning. So first thing in the morning I write in this gratitude journal. It's called the five minute journal. You write a little in the morning and a little in the evening. And this is something that really makes me be able to focus and fills my heart with joy. The next thing is I like to drink tea, herbal tea and I love having a stainless steel mug to have that tea in. The other stainless steel thing that I use is my water container. So I don't drink out of plastic because I don't want to ingest any of those plastic nanoparticles. So even just a little bit is still pretty toxic. So I feel good and it removes the stress when I know I'm drinking out of something safe like stainless steel. Glass is another option. Another thing that might seem silly but is really truly part of my self care routine is the raw apple cider vinegar which I put in my water every single day and every single day I am drinking 60 ounces of water with about a total of a tablespoon of the raw apple cider vinegar. Hydration is incredibly important for self care and the recommendation from the Institute for Functional Medicine says that we should be drinking half our body weight in ounces. So what else do I like? Well I love cleaning with non toxic products so I will use thieves sea salt and water and I will make my own cleaning products and they are fantastic and they smell great and I don't have to be concerned about smelling any of the fumes. What else makes me happy? I will tell you this makes me happy. This is a library card. I love to read. I don't like clutter. I used to buy tons and tons of books and now I get to return those books and my home stays just clean and uncluttered. Okay, this next one you're gonna really laugh at, but it is something that physically helps with stress and makes things much more comfortable. But this right here, have you ever seen something like this before? It's called a squatty potty. So toilets are relatively new inventions, and ergonomically, they're not very good for us. This has transformed that experience for my whole household, and I highly recommend it. What else beyond the squatty potty? You know, just two more things to share. So try and have good relationships with your neighbors. I came home today to a huge bag of fresh peaches from a neighbor, so work on those relationships that can help with your stress as well. And the last thing I want to share with you is this. This is my accusweed mat. I love it. So I will stand on it during the day. It's real prickly, but it just keeps me very present and it opens up any kind of tenseness or soreness in my feet. And then if I'm feeling tight in my back, I will lie down on that and relax with it as well. So those are a handful of my favorite things. They absolutely do not represent clutter to me. But you would have to look at those things and say, are they useful? Are they worthy of being in my home? And go from there. So at the end of the day, find things that will have a positive impact on your well being, on your health and your happiness. And then what you do, you get rid of all the rest because it's just clutter taking up space.
