I sometimes use the term corporate soldier to describe a person in an organization. In my playbook, this is not a term of endearment or respect. I use it to contrast this person from a true leader. The corporate soldier knows all the rules, all the regulations that govern the organization, all the entitlements, the written and unwritten do's and don'ts. He knows them all, and all his actions are driven by and based on those rules. You may think great, perfect employee. Well, not in my view. A corporate soldier lacks everything that makes a great leader. Creativity, initiative, dynamism, originality. A corporate soldier is not not an entrepreneur, not a business builder. Therefore, organizations get rid of your corporate soldier. Power to the intrapreneurs.
