Tina's Tech Tip - use Canva for consistent branding. It's super easy!

Tina shows how to use Canva to create branded social media posts and marketing materials with a consistent look. She walks through customizing templates and using her own Tina Tower color palette as an example.
Hello and welcome to Tech Tips. So today's tech tip is all about using Canva. So, so often, you know, you want to do branding appropriate posts on your Instagram channel, on your Facebook channel, with all of your print materials, all of that sort of thing. And really great to be on brand with everything, but it can be time consuming if you need to send it to a graphic designer and wait for it to come back. It can also be very, very costly. So a quick, easy way to do that yourself or to have an admin assistant or a assistant do it for you in house is to use Canva. So with Canva, absolutely fantastic. There's a free version, there's a paid version, if you've got lots of things going on. And it does give you suggestions for all of the sizes, so you don't have to worry about getting the size right for different things. You can see here that you've got, you know, if you want to do a Facebook post, it's the right size, Instagram posts, all of that sort of thing. Everything is all there, all set out. So all you have to do is really change the content in there and customize that for yourself. So the way that I use it most often is, you know, you see things when you're scrolling on Facebook or Instagram and you think, oh my gosh, I love that quote. I want to share that on my page. And so you might screenshot it. And rather than just sharing the screenshot of that, you can change the quote to be in your design. So you can see here, I've got all of my designs saved. So these are ones that I've made previously. And once you've made them, really easy to update that and change that depending on the quote and that sort of thing. And to match your branding, which is the most important one there, it's often. I'll often use it as well. For if I'm at a conference or something like that and I hear a really good quote, I will put that in there. The important thing is to put who said the quote. So you can see here it's attributed to Mary Oliver because you want to be able to attribute wherever possible. Sometimes when I see quotes online, they won't have who actually designed the quote there. So I'll Google search the entire thing to find who made the quote. And sometimes you just don't know. So sometimes you can put unknown or in the caption on your Instagram post, put quote unknown, that sort of thing. But to show you how easy it is, we'll go okay, we want to do an Instagram post that's opening in a new window. Hang on, let me see if it will open there. Yes. Okay, cool. So you've got all of these different layouts that it has to suggest for you. So you can spend ages scrolling through these and finding all of the different ones. There's a lot of free backgrounds, or you can pay for some really super cool ones, or you can design your own. So say you like the look of this, but you want to change the colors. You can just drag it on there, it'll come up and you can change the colors and customize all of this sort of, sort of thing. Um, so with this, you just click. It's exactly the same as like a Word document and you can just change it to whatever font you use in your business. Um, you can change the color. So up here, now you can see I've already got colors programmed in for the different things that I use Canva for. Um, so for my Tina Tower page, this is the color palette that I use. So I could change the background to the green and then, oh my gosh, look how big bad the red looks there. So we're obviously going to want to change that red. So we can either make it light pink maybe, maybe it won't look so bad once the other bits red, once the other red has changed, but we can change all of that. And so really it's just having a play around until. Until you're happy with what you've got. And then what's a good idea is to always put on your logo. So in this section where we've got uploads, you can see these are all photos that I've used before as backgrounds, because you can uplo a photo and put the photo in the background if you want to overlay a quote over a photo that you've got. Or you can put your logo on this so you just get it, drag it in. It's too big, so we'll just resize it there and then that can stay down in the corner of all of them as well, so that it looks really branded. That doesn't look good because you've got circle and circle there. So I take that one off but have a play around with it because it's a way to make something of your own that looks really good, that suits your brand as well. So jump into Canva.
