Use the Freedom App to get yourself, well, um, more freedom

Tina Tower talks about the Freedom app, which blocks distracting websites and apps to help you focus. It's designed to keep you on task during work sessions by removing temptation.
Hi and welcome to this week's Tina's Tech Tip. So today I wanted to show you.
Freedom, the Freedom app.
So this is Freedom. I have it downloaded on both my.
Laptop and my phone.
And what it does is it locks.
You out of websites and apps that you don't want to go to.
So you can see at the moment.
I'm currently in a 90 minute session of lockout. So I usually go in 90 minute sessions where I can't get distracted in that time because I like to work.
In 90 minute blocks, get stuff all smashed out and not when you have that little moment where you're needing a bit of a brain break. And sometimes you can get in the.
Habit of flicking over to Facebook or to another website that may be your vice.
The thing that I really like is.
The recurring session here.
You can do kind of an every morning from 9am till 12pm every morning.
Of the week so that you've got three hours in the morning of the week that you have all distracting websites.
Cut out for that you won't be.
Able to go online. And so you can nominate what your distracting websites are. So I have six of them in my block list. These are all the common ones that they kind of suggest for you. So I've got Facebook and Instagram are my main ones. So they're always the ones that I tend to block out everything else I seem to have really good discipline over.
You can add another block list as.
Well, depending on your habits and what you need to block yourself from. And sometimes you go, you know, what is it worth having an app? Because can't I just not go on there?
But sometimes, you know, we get distracted. We're humans and that's what we do.
And having a block means that it's taken, taken out of your hands. And so if you put it on your phone as well, you know, it can get frustrating because like, oh my.
Gosh, I just want to check. But often it's a habitual thing.
So locking yourself out is a way to add that extra layer of discipline so that you can get some productive work done. It's a couple of dollars a month and I think well worth it.
So see how you go and see.
How much that lifts up your productivity. You can do a seven day trial, which I totally recommend, and see how.
You go, let's do it.
